This is a pretty standard older Fairfield Inn. Conveniently located right off of I-70 at the…read moreOhio-Indiana border. They did have warm cookies when we arrived around 5pm. A nice touch. The rooms are fine nothing special - it did have a large frig with a small freezer section which is not common anymore. Found it hard to believe that there were no rooms for a Gold upgrade in the middle of the week. The breakfast buffet was typical but it was crammed into a very small space - people were practically tripping on each other. Good for a one night stay on a road trip.

Even upon walking into the room, the beds were inviting and the overall look is nice. However, I immediately heard a dripping sound. Upon investigation, we found water coming in rather rapidly from the window (it was raining). The front desk wasn't much help, stating "Yeah, many of our rooms have that problem" (well, then maybe you should FIX those problems!!!!!) Then my friend goes into the washroom, and comes out horrified and asks me to please go in there and confirm that it was a cricket and not a cockroach. Thankfully it was just a cricket -- but EWWWW, no one wants ANY kind of bug in their hotel room. That wasn't the last of the bug infestation either. We ended up having TWO more LARGE crickets come in the room. One again was in the bathroom, the other we found crawling up the wall by the desk. EWWW EWWWW EWWWWWW (I apologize to any guests that heard the girly screams coming from our room) I probably wouldn't ever go back here.

I can't really imagine a ton of people need to find a hotel in Richmond, IN, other than maybe as a…read morepit stop on a road trip. But in the event that someone is looking for a place to stay for more than a night in this sleepy town, I'll go ahead and post my review. The Goods: It's cheap. It's convenient. It's on US40 and super close to I70; crossroads of America, baby. There's free WiFi. There's free breakfast. The staff are friendly enough. The Kinda Weirds and Mehs: It smells kind of funny. Kind of like a nursing home. Our keys stopped working multiple times, every single day. Although, they were (very noisily) replacing the locks during our stay... at all hours. The shower.... well, it screams. Never heard anything like it. After about a minute of running, an ear piercing, loud screech emits from the shower head. You can hear it down hall. Not joking. Breakfast is subpar, even as far as continental breakfasts go. Trains. Lots of train action. There's a very active railroad right next door. Trains run day and night. It's all pretty old feeling. Sometimes, that's a good thing. But in this case, it's more of a.... disrepair thing. The Bads: The room isn't very clean. There was trash under the cabinet in the bathroom, the sink itself had crud and old toothpaste in it and thank goodness I don't drink coffee because the pot had old coffee in it. The pool. It's bad. We chose this hotel solely because it has a pool. It was closed for most of our stay for some unknown reason. We did a walk through when it opened and decided against using it anyway. It's not very clean, the decking is all chipped and yucky, and it's just, overall, not a very nice pool. Also, it's not handicap accessible. It's supposed to be. But it's down a flight of stairs. There's a wheelchair lift available but it is.... wait for it.... broken. Again, Richmond isn't a hot spot for tourist activity but we stayed to visit friends and family. If we ever do again, I imagine we will try a different hotel.

There's a lack of cleanliness standards, and a lack of care. Quality needs to wake up before these new owners or managers continue to deteriorate their crumbling brand

Completely agree with Pete M's review on April 29th…read more We were very pleased with our overnight stay at this hotel. It felt as if we were staying at an upscale hotel, not an 'Express' hotel. Check in was quick. The lobby amenities were explained to us. Everything about the room was very nice. There is a microwave and a very large refrigerator in the room. Room temperature was easy to regulate. Beautiful large screen TV with good reception. We were very impressed with the complimentary hot breakfast. Instead of the common 'make your own Belgium waffles', there was a machine that, with the touch of one button, automatically made you two pancakes. The pancakes tasted great and there was no mess like you often see with those Belgium waffle makes. How about this list of the other items that I can remember were offered: egg omelet, biscuits, gravy, turkey sausage, cinnamon rolls, cereals, apples, bananas, blueberry muffins, chocolate muffins, hard boiled eggs, bagels and other breads for toast. Lots of beverage options also including orange juice, hot chocolate, coffee. If we come back to Sidney, we will stay at this hotel again

Its sleek lines and modern structure stand out among the modest buildings that surround it. Every inch of its interior and exterior are detailed in lavish sophistication. We stayed in the Spa Suite- a beautiful, spacious room with a deep soaking tub perfect for relaxing. Snacks, drinks and card games are within easy reach, tempting you from their station on the oversized desk (for a charge, of course). We skipped slipping into our robes and ordering room service and went down to the hotel bar instead. The bar offers a number of handcrafted cocktails, I was so conflicted about which to order that I told the bartender I would just go down the list- and she happily obliged. Dinner hadn't quite started yet so we ordered food from a limited lunch menu and made friends with the bar patrons. After all, it's still a small town and everyone around is incredibly friendly. Unfortunately, due to my overly enthusiastic cocktail buffet, I didn't make it to dinner. Luckily, I had a gorgeous room to stumble back to, and when I woke up, the minibar snacks and drinks truly saved my night. I absolutely think you get great value for the price of a stay here. You get the sophistication of a luxury hotel without the steep price and pretentiousness that you'd find at a similar hotel in a bigger city. I can't wait to return!
