Bed bug bites

Absolutely disgusting!!! Bed bugs are very prevalent in this hotel...DO NOT STAY HERE!!! Worst comfort inn I've ever been to, woke up in the morning absolutely covered in bed bug bites only to find them crawling on the sheets and pillows..confronted the manager on duty with the pillow and bugs and she tried to keep me quiet in front of other guests and simply act like it wasn't a big deal and that I was crazy for bringing it up...ABSOLUTELY MORTIFIED AND DISGUSTED!!

Had to make an unexpected stop around midnight. I didn't realize how hard it was to find an available room in Ohio but then again it was Saturday night. The lady working at the front desk was very friendly and accommodating. She got us one of the last available rooms. Our room was very clean and the ac worked so I was happy as could be. The entire building was clean and looked nice. They have an indoor pool and a cute little eating area. Free breakfast in the morning with later hours than most. If you need somewhere to stop near this area I'd highly recommend this location. In addition to being clean and comfortable it was very affordable.

This is a relatively new property in Marion. I think it has only been open 2-3 months. After…read moreturning off the main drag, there is a traffic light that marks the entrance to the parking lot, but it (the traffic light) has not been activated yet. There is not even a large sign that lets the public know that this hotel exists. I am quite impressed with this place. It is a three-story hotel with all the basic amenities of home; hence, the name..."My PlaceHotel". It has an adequate lobby that has sturdy seating (some sofas and low chairs as well as a couple of bistro sets) and a large tv. The check-in area reminded me more of a curved bar than a hotel desk reception area. Next to it is the convenience store/pantry, which offers a nice variety of items, from foods, pharmaceuticals, and even housewares. At check-in, I wondered why this store sold pots, pans and other kitchen items. My room amenities would later answer this question for me. Once we went into the room, we were greeted by a FULL-SIZE refrigerator & microwave, coffee maker, spacious cabinets and a small sink, complete with cloth towels, paper towels and liquid dish soap. All these things were in the kitchen area. WHAT?!?! For hanging clothes storage, there is a nice-sized closet that houses a full-size ironing board, iron, hangers and a large clothes basket. While the bathroom was not overly spacious, it had an adequate size and contained my personal favorite- Neutragena brand toiletries. The size of our room with 2 queen-size beds was a bit more spacious than the typical hotel room. There was actually ample space to walk between the end of the bed and the desk that is against the wall. In terms of space, It really seems like this room is wheelchair accessible even though it is on the 2nd floor. I hope the other rooms in the hotel have similar dimensions and spaciousness. For recreation, there is a covered picnic area with two charcoal grills, a few tables and numerous chairs. Since the hotel is pet-friendly, there are about four stations around the grounds that supply bags for you to clean up after your beloved pet. Let me repeat... I just cannot stress just how impressed I am with this property. It offers just about all the amenities of home including a friendly and helpful staff. I believe we have found the place that we will stay on our repeated trips to Marion.

The grounds and building are spotless. The staff was nice and helpful. I'll definitely be looking for more of these in my travels. Only thing missing was the recliner it said that was in my room. I could tell that they were working hard to satisfy the patrons, supply our needs and keep the place clean & disinfected. Though, there were a few questionable things that made me lower the stars for this place. First, The decoration and decor were outdated. Though, I am more concerned with cleanliness and decent services than decor and decoration. So, the uninspiring decor was not a huge hit against them. However, the elevator was broken and supposedly, according to the front desk staffer, it happened immediately before we arrived. I found that claim hard to believe once I looked at the elevator and its surroundings. It appeared to have been broken for much longer. Thank goodness we were only on the 3rd floor. Secondly, even though our king suite was laid out nicely with French doors between the bedroom and living area, the entire room smelled of old cigarette smoke. It was not super strong or overwhelming, but there was a slight stench of smoke. Thank goodness the smell was not strong enough for us to demand a different room. Thirdly, the bathroom floor in our room seemed not to have been mopped in its entirety. While the area that could be seen easily (around the toilet, in the tub, in front of the shower) was somewhat clean, the area under the sink (where no one would really need to look) had a couple drops of dried reddish-brown substance. I thought, "well, they quickly mopped only where people walk and stand in this bathroom. No need to fight to get a mop under that sink." Finally, we had to wait a long time to check in and to check out. I don't know if they were understaffed or under scheduled. The pandemic negatively has affected the hotel business, so long wait times could just be par for the course of travel, at least for the foreseeable future. Though, even with these things, I would choose this place again versus the other lodging options in Marion.

I'll preface it by stating that our previous two nights in "no-name" mom and pop motels far exceeded the higher dollar mess that the BW provided us... Starting out with being on hold with the location for almost 10 minutes, calling back and getting no answer after numerous calls...to the desk clerk talking/listening to someone else on her cell phone/ear buds...then our room had some type of oily mess on the floor that we had to clean up...the bathroom door wouldn't close...the room was not clean...the door to the laundry room (about 4 doors down from our room) was open, filling the hallway with steam...yeah, that is just the beginning... There are plenty of options out there--just because the name says best sure doesn't mean it is.

While we were checking out, the front desk staff and the manager were completely apathetic to the issue and stated that "these things happen". Bed bugs are incredibly easy to bring home, and very difficult to get rid of. The manager had the audacity to state that "because of the issue we would not be penalized for our early check out". DO NOT STAY HERE! BED BUGS ARE NOT WORTH IT!

The name has changed to Wingate by Wyndham and the service is horrible. Don't do it!…read moreManagement is really really bad. I booked the wrong date in error and Wingate flat out refused to reverse the reservation. It did not matter that I called immediately after doing it. Or that I was trying to schedule respite while caring for my stage 4 cancer dying mother. Once the reservation is made there is no cancellations... so I paid for a room that I didn't even set foot in. I've tried several times too ask the manager for some consideration and was blocked by associates who claimed " he just left right before you got here". I have also expressed my concern at corporate office customer service and still waiting to be acknowledged. This should be a one star if there was a zero star that's the rating I would give. Caution when considering when gate you have several hotels around this location it would have 10 times better service and facilities.

I had at least 3 out of state guests tell me that their room was given away well before the time on their confirmation email due to your hotel overbooking. One of these guests drove 8 hours that day to be there for our wedding and had to drive at least an hour to find a hotel room after the wedding because all other hotels were booked in the area. Another male guest was given a room key, and when he entered the room found that there was a woman already in the room. He was completely mortified to walk in on her. Another guest was already checked into her room, and when she came home from the wedding at 1:30am found her key was deactivated. When she went to get a new key, she found they had changed the name on the hotel room. It then took over a half hour to fix this issue and she couldn't get into her room until 2am. Finally, I was notified that the elevator broke on Thursday and for some unknown reason it could not be fixed until Monday. Many elderly guests had to haul their bags up 2 or 3 flights of stairs, and we even had a guest fall while using the stairs. There are no words to express my how upset I was to find how my wedding guests were treated during their stay.
