    Paint peeling on bathtub floor.

My family and I were traveling for vacation. It was late and we got a room here to stay for the night. The only decent thing about this hotel was the exterior and the lobby. The hallway outside our room was nasty looking with stains on the carpet. Our room was just as disgusting, stains on the wall and bathtub. Our bathtub had pain peeling up and I was worried about us cutting our foot on the peeling paint. Lady at front desk couldn't give us a different room because they were all booked up. She gave me a shower mat to cover chipped bathtub paint. The bathtub mat was nasty looking with black stains on it. Don't be fooled by the pictures of the rooms on the website!!!

Away with the hubbs for a long-overdue-pandemic-cancelled-concert weekend. :-D

We stay exclusively at Choice Hotels when we travel, since they are typically the most affordable, plus we are rewards club members and like to accumulate the points. We have stayed at our fair share of Comfort Inn's over the years, and in regards to this one, I have to believe it is on the verge of a Quality Inn downgrade. All of the details are pretty worn and dingy here, just not the same level of care that the Comfort Inn usually provides. When we initially checked into our room, it reeked of mustiness. I opened the window to see if I could bear it, kneeled down to put something in the fridge, and my knees and hands were soaked in gross brown goo. The fridge was leaking and oozing something ewwwwe all over the carpet. The friendly desk clerk (Danielle) apologized and promptly moved us to a room across the hall. The second room was fine enough, but again worn and dingy. The walls were scuffed all over, the furniture was stained, the bathroom had no exhaust fan. Plus the shower water pressure was too low. The room was clean enough, the bed was comfortable enough, and the price was reasonable enough (about $100 per night, all in), so if you come here with lowered expectations than what the Comfort Inn brand usually delivers, you can save a few bucks and have a lackluster, but still comfortable enough stay with friendly staff. NOTE: I actually came back into this review to downgrade to two stars because I remembered something else unfortunate. We have been Choice Privileges Members for over 15 years, very loyal to the brand. We typically always ask for a late checkout, always within reason, usually just an hour. When I asked at the desk the night before our checkout I was told they NEVER grant late checkouts! He wouldn't even check if our room was booked the next day because he said he would be in trouble with management! Then he gave a litany of bogus reasons why they can't ever do a late checkout! I can understand on occasion if there is a time when a reasonable late checkout isn't possible because of occupancy and staffing. But to say NEVER is just preposterous. :-(

Some kind of filth plastered to the wall by the luggage stand.

As a super Yelper, I try very hard to provide honest and fair reviews. I try to view all my reviews from both the perspective of the business owner and the client. I try very hard to remain unbiased in my reviews and be as positive as possible. On this count though, I find it very difficult to leave a positive review. Let's start with the positive. We were greeted by a very friendly lady at the front desk. She did an excellent job making us feel welcome. That is about where the positive ended. I grabbed a luggage cart and could not find one that was not filthy. Sticky stuff, dirt and grime, they were all gross. We got to our room and the door was jammed. The locking mechanism had to be slammed shut to latch. It made leaving our room quietly a near impossibility. Upon walking into the room, we found it dated and dirty. Water streaks and spots were on the mirrors. It looked like someone had sneezed on the mirror. The tile floor just inside the door looked like it had not been swept. The arm chair was old and dingy. An equally worn out ottoman sat in front of it. It was the only true seating in the room minus the office chair. In the corner by the luggage table there was a wad of something stuck to the wall. It could have been anything from caramel to fecal matter. It was gross. The sink in the berthing area did not appear to have been cleaned correctly. The drain had white crud all around it. The bathroom was equally problematic. There was water damage in the ceiling that had not been properly fixed and the tile was peeling. Behind it was black mold. The picture over the toilet had been water damaged and it too was covered in black mold. The corners of the tub were covered in black mold. I have submitted pictures to support my claims. There were only two towels and a hand towel available. The shower had a thin curtain but no water proof liner, so the water was all over the floor by the time we had finished showering, despite our trying to tuck the shower curtain tightly inside on each corner. Water pressure and temperature both remained good during showers. No complaints on that front. The bed was a king size bed, which I had ordered. My experience with king size beds in motels is that they are usually deep and soft and movement on one side of the bed is minimal to the other. I have shoulder and neck problems relative to a car accident, so I wanted a large, soft bed that I could frequently reposition myself on without waking my wife. This was not to be the case. This mattress was about as cheap a king size mattress as one could get. It was hard, thin and neither my wife nor I found it remotely comfortable. There were minimal blankets. Plenty of pillows though. That I can credit the room. Two sheets and a light quilt was all that was available. The air conditioner worked correctly but it was a wall mounted unit, so one side of the room stayed cold while the other was not. Our biggest complaint about the air unit was that the vanes were immovable. The air blew straight across the bed. There was no way to redirect it. This meant fan driven air in our faces every time we turned our heads to the wall, which made my wife cough. The room did come with a very small microwave and a fridge. The fridge door was bent and didn't close without slamming it into the wooden desk in which it was placed. There were no vending machines upstairs, just a few snacks and drinks placed for sale in the lobby. Breakfast was as expected for the price point and was not bad. It appears bacon is on the menu, but it was gone at 7:30 when we ate. Sausage was good though. A decent breakfast is all that saved my review from being a one star review. Overall, this motel seemed like a relic of the 1970's into which very little money or effort has been placed. Ice machine was dirty and smelled of mildew. Black mold along edges of ceiling. The lobby is nice and modern, but the improvements stop there. It is run down, worn out and dingy. The ice machine had an odd musty smell and black mold could be seen in the corners of the room. Breakfast was actually pretty good and the only reason I am giving this experience two stars. Bacon was gone by the time we got there at 7:30, which was a disappointment. This room was priced just above mid point. I paid $113 plus tax for it. It wasn't in the bargain basement "roach" motel prices, neither was it a $209 premium room at a five star establishment. It was booked through Priceline.com however. So, I expected it to be better than I found it. Overall, it was a disappointment.

The restaurant was great. My husband had a steak he loved, the boys had chicken strips and fries, and macaroni and cheese, (although I do recommend to the hotel to get rid of the black bowls that you serve Mac and cheese to kids in, it's weird to them....looks like a witches brew) and I ordered the portobello ravioli, but I didn't get to eat it hot due to the kids. Looked delish though! We went to the pool, which was nice and clean, and they had plenty of extra towels. This was the only part of our stay. The lady asking us to sign in, was extremely bossy, and pissy towards everyone there. She walked through the pool several times yelling at people about where they were allowed to sit, or what floats they were allowed to use. Slamming containers as she put them away and putting the lock on it. Everyone in the pool was talking about it, all 8 or 9 of us she was trying to treat like Privates. My high ranking husband in the military, nor I, appreciated her superiority complex. She needs to be in another department that doesn't deal with people, but I'd bet my last dollar she's organized and on time. We had an extra cot brought up for the grands, and the man that brought it up treated the kids like royalty. They've not been to many nice hotels anyway, so this was an adventure in their hometown. So special to this Mama Lu that they slept like angels. I choose DoubleTree every time it's available to me because the pillows and bed are a guaranteed great night sleep, every single time, no matter the location.

Honestly I did not expect much because it was Binghamton. The food was good, the taste was comparable to some restaurants I've tried in the city. We ordered 2 Pan Roasted Atlantic Salmon Butter Milk Smashed Potatoes and Sauteed Mustard Greens ($14 each), a Grilled Chicken Panni with Portabello Mushroom, Smoked Cheddar Cheese and Sauteed Mustard Greens, and a Salad(forgot which one) with Grilled Ahi Tuna. All the dishes were presented nicely in terms of culinary art. I had the Pan Roasted Atlantic Salmon Butter Milk Smashed Potatoes and Sauteed Mustard Greens with Truffle Scented Mac & Cheese ($4) on the side. Personally I believe that I've had better. The salmon was not over cooked, the skin was maybe a little bit too crispy. I think it is pretty good for the price. The mashed potatoes and the sauteed greens went well with the dish. The sauce on the plate also went well with the salmon. As for the Truffle Scented Mac & Cheese, I was disappointed. The pasta could have been a little softer. I would give the Truffle Scented Mac & Cheese 3 stars and Pan Roasted Atlantic Salmon Butter Milk Smashed Potatoes 4 stars. I am comparing this to my Camaje and SMAC experience. For dessert we had 3 orders of gelato and an order of warm molted lava cake with vanilla gelato. I had the warm molted lava cake with vanilla gelato. It was pretty good, but I have had better dessert than this. I mean this is better than probably dessert from TGIF or Apple Bees. The cake was really moist. All of us were satisfied with our meal. This place is definitely has a great atmosphere. It is a little fancy and romantic. It's great for dates or special celebrations. I went for lunch and the bright light was shinning in through the window (does not have a nice window view) It seems like the restaurant is a candle light dinner or dim light type later in the evening. The restaurant is inside a hotel. So I would not dress too bum-like, lol... One thing that disturbed me was an unfamiliar object had dropped into my friend's glass of water as the waitress was filling it. But she kindly replaced it for us. They had really good service. I would definitely go again to try some of their other stuff.

My apologies that my mother DIED at an inconvenient time for you - so much so that I am now out over 600 dollars to cancel a room which you were able to turn around an IMMEDIATELY sell again. From the moment we arrived at Traditions at the Glen in New York, we knew we were in for something special. A sanctuary among stunning natural beauty, this hotel offers a rare combination of breathtaking scenery, heartfelt hospitality, and rich history -- all of which made our experience unforgettable. The scenery is absolutely impeccable -- nestled amidst lush greenery with breathtaking views in every direction, it felt like we had stepped into a peaceful retreat away from the everyday. The gardens adorning the estate were in full fragrant bloom -- Butterflies fluttered among pink blooms and red roses, while bees hummed softly, savoring each blossom's sweetness. Around the lawn's fountain, rose bushes blushed in full bloom as birds dipped playfully in the water, sending sparkling droplets into the air--a quiet ballet of nature in perfect harmony. Whether it was early morning mist rising from the hills or the golden glow of sunset through the trees, every moment was picture-perfect. One of the most remarkable aspects of Traditions is its origin as a private residence. That warm history is still very much alive in the atmosphere, creating a unique sense of coziness and charm that is truly a treasure in itself. The elegant architecture, thoughtfully preserved details, and welcoming common spaces made us feel like we were stepping into a beautifully cared-for home rather than just a hotel. But what truly made our stay exceptional was the people. The staff at Traditions are some of the kindest and most passionate individuals we've ever encountered. A heartfelt thank you to Barbara at the front desk who welcomed us with such warmth and professionalism that we immediately felt at home. She went above and beyond to make sure our check-in was seamless and that we had everything we needed throughout our stay. A special shout-out goes to Kayla, the bartender and hospitality waitress whose friendly smile, attentive service, and genuine care made every evening in the lounge and dining room feel like catching up with an old friend. Her attention to detail and warm demeanor added a personal touch that truly made a difference. And we can't forget Larry, who oversaw breakfast each morning. His pride in the kitchen and hospitality shined through in every delicious bite and every kind word. He brought such a comforting energy to the start of each day with a hearty meal and a kind smile. Though we didn't catch the names of every team member, it's clear that every single staff member at Traditions takes pride in their work and truly values their guests. Their collective hospitality and passion made our stay not just comfortable, but genuinely heartwarming. Traditions at the Glen isn't just a place to stay -- it's a place to feel at peace, to connect, and to create memories. We left feeling refreshed, deeply cared for, and already looking forward to returning. Thank you to the entire team for such a beautiful and heartfelt experience.
