If I could leave 0 I would. This was the worst hotel experience I have had in a long time and I have stayed in some scary places.
We chose this hotel despite its higher nightly rate because they advertised a heated indoor pool among its amenities. Because we were traveling halfway across the country with my children for their grandfather's funeral, we had hoped to allow the kids an opportunity to enjoy the pool as a reward for being stuck in a car for two days and 1300+ miles. When we asked about the pool times we were informed the pool was closed for repairs and would be unavailable for the duration of our stay (3 nights). When we asked about a discount for the inconvenience, we were told the manager, Imani Logan, would not be in until the morning after our 2nd night and she was the only person that could approve any discounts or refunds.
After traveling 8+ hours from the Comfort Inn in Tulsa, OK (a wonderful experience), the curved shower rod fell on my son 5'10" while he was taking a shower. This caused my son to slip and fall in the shower, hitting his back on the sidewall of the bathtub. Because the 0 button on the phone in our room did not work, I immediately went to the front desk to inform them that this was not acceptable and we needed to be further compensated for the difficulty. The "manager" on duty was only able to offer to move us to another room for the night. By the time this solution was arrived upon, it was 10:30pm and wife & children were already in bed and I was not going to make them get up, repack their suitcases, and change rooms that late. We agreed to re-visit it in the morning.
The following morning, after breakfast, I went back to the front desk to get the room key for another room that hopefully would have a secure shower rod. It took more than 30 minutes for them to confirm the new room was ready and get us keys for the room. The shower rod in the new room, across the hallway, was not overly secure, but it wasn't falling on us so we started to settle in. After her shower, my wife went to use the hairdryer in the bathroom and it pulled right off the wall in her hands. It was not properly secured to the wall.
On the second morning, I woke up early to make my complaint to the manager, Imani Logan. Despite the glowing reviews of her customer service on various travel sites, the only thing she was willing to offer was a $33 discount for the first night for the inconvenience of the pool not being available. She was not willing to compensate us for the shower rod causing my son to injure himself or the potential electrocution my wife faced with the hair dryer coming out of the wall. She was also unwilling to extend the $33 discount for the pool not being available beyond the first night. I demanded she contact the owner (Vaghela of SHRI, LLC) for authorization to provide an additional discount. Begrudgingly, she agreed to call and took the cordless phone around the corner to a small office where I heard her having a conversation in hushed tones and saying "Yes ma'am" before hanging up and returning to the desk.
She then outright lied to my face and told me she couldn't reach the owner, but had left him a voicemail to call me. I called her out on her lie (admittedly using profanity - although none was directed at her personally) and returned to our room fuming because I felt helpless to make the situation better for my wife and family.
A few moments after returning to our room, there was a knock at the door. I expected it to be Imani with news from the owners or even possibly the owner herself, but instead I was greeted by three Grenada police officers telling me that we had to leave. Imani was having us kicked out. Yes, on the morning I was to take my wife to bury her father (something Imani knew), I had to wake her up to tell her three of Granada's finest were standing outside the door and we had to pack up and leave the hotel as quickly as possible.
Imani Logan had no compassion for a woman who traveled halfway across the country with her children to bury her father, their grandfather and is a souless, heartless, awful person. I would highly recommend you choose another hotel for your next visit to Grenada, MS. read more
