Liquor bottle found in the second room thy gave me closet

This was the worst hotel stay ever in my life. The front desk staff was okay but the rooms were terrible. When I checked into the hotel and received my key and went to my room the door was open and tv on. I have never got my key at a hotel and the door be open with the tv playing. When I questioned the staff they told me something about the housekeeper. I was already running late for a meeting so I put my luggage in the room and left. I told myself that I will deal with this when I return. I got back to the hotel later and grabbed my things and went back to the front desk. The other ladies were gone so I had to explain my situation to the night lady (she was wonderful by the way). She understood why I didn't feel safe sleeping in that room so she called her manager but she didn't answer or call back. So the nice lady found me another room. The room didn't even seem to be bad. However, when I went to hang up my dress in the closet there was an empty E&J VSOP bottle sitting in the corner. This right here tells you that their housekeeping team half a** their jobs. Since I booked with a third party, the manager told me that she couldn't refund me. She did tell me if I signed up with Choice thatI she could give me some points. I stepped to the side to do that and she took down my number. However, today 10/13 makes a whole week since my stay and I have yet to see them Points. I was not the only customer in that hotel that was having problems. My one Soror sister had to use her shoulder to get her door to open. Another one could never get into her room with her key and another one could not leave her room without closing the door all the way. This hotel need to be remodel and updated ASAP. Because when I tell you that I will never stay at this hotel in Clinton, Mississippi as long as I'm on this earth. This place is a safety hazard to anyone that lodge here. By the way, the one star is because I can't leave zero.

Start with the positives. Location is decent. It's among a busy business district area, right off the interstate. Check-in was semi-simple although stern (maybe the day staff is more pleasant). The rooms and hotel overall is indeed within the 2.5 star range. The bathroom is somewhat newer and the furniture fixtures are not worn or chipped. Plenty of light in the room and the location is a tad bit away from the major road so noise isn't a big problem. Negatives - checked all of the boxes! Found two roaches, or let me say, two found me on a mirror close to the bed area Bed bugs, yes. Photo proof attached (yes that dot was moving). Hair in the bed linens Breakfast was weak (using covid as an excuse of course) but machine coffee and machine juice with a few plastic muffins were available. Some reviewers would instantly one star a place for bugs/pests alone. I just think the hotel is being lazy. Yes, it's a small town hotel but that doesn't make it an excuse to not exterminate or freaking smile upon arrival. STOP USING COVID AS AN EXCUSE TO NOT CLEAN ROOMS! This isn't political, it's hygiene.

Clean and comfortable, things seem to be updated. There are several late night restaurants and convenience places around. I like that they have an indoor pool and gym at this location.

Room- we had to moved twice. First one had problems with the lock and key card wont work. Front desk had to come up and "fixed it" but it quickly stopped working again. Came up again. He said he "batteries might have to be replace" but he dont know how. Maintenance guys will do it Second room was fine but the dividing door to the other room where other guests were staying seem to be so thin so we can easily hear the screams and fighting from the kids, and parents yelling. Kids are kids-- I get it... But I wish they had thicker dividing doors! Our third room was fine. Bed was comfy and sheets were clean. Bathroom was clean Staff were friendly and polite. The front desk lady said "good morning!" when I came down the next morning for breakfast. During breakfast, boiled eggs ran out and when I informed the lady working the area, she quickly brought out more. Spa was broke (see picture) but pool was working and had warm water Fitness center- treadmill broke (see photo). Another review here from months ago mentioned about it too-- they havent fixed it? The elliptical was working great, though

Only upon settling in to our king suite room did we find many inexcusable deficiencies. Since is was late, we opted to tough it out and get to sleep, since we were only there for one night and needed immediate rest before an early departure in the morning. Here are a few of the more notable items: light would not work in the bathroom, outlet was defective in bathroom, floor in bathroom was nasty (we hand mopped it with a towel to show how dirty it was), toilet seat was completely broken in half, paint splatters were on the floor, someone had left stray pills (medicine) on the floor. We rang the bell for the manager at the front desk and waited almost twenty minutes with no one ever coming to the desk. We finally spoke to the breakfast area staff and told them we needed to speak to the manager. She said the manager was on a conference call and did no know when she would be available, but assured us we would get a call. We left the detailed list with our keys and room number and departed. It has been over a month and still no call and no assistance. This is definitely not the Fairfield experience we have been accustomed to, and certainly does not live up to the Fairfield Promise.

Bathroom very large also and well appointed. Exceptional lighting. 2. Kitchen access upstairs for ice, free soda, coffee, tea or water, homemade cookies bt elevator or stairs. Wish we could have seen them in bloom. 5. Can order nicely prepared meals to room or eat in library lounge - breakfast or dinner. Def an old southern feel to the place. Cons: 1. Parking was tight and hard to to manuever but they did have a cart available for rooms that are further away - partially broken. 2. In downtown area, kind of dingy and run down - but somewhat charming w many old craftsman homes around. 3. Could have used some hanging baskets and annuals for more color and charm - would help brighten the mood of the run down area of town - 4. And wish theyd answer the phones. We left messages almost everytime we called (they were good about calling back). This leaves one feeling disconnected from a warm hospitable experience.

To be fair, Jackson, MS wasn't my destination, it's simply a great midpoint for me to rest when I'm road trippin' between Dallas and Atlanta. The Good: The hotel is relatively new and It's conveniently located near the University of Mississippi Medical Center and VA hospital. A few restaurants are within walking distance, which is a plus. It's also pet-friendly, which is fabulous since my fur babies love a good road trip. Also, the staff is really nice (shoutout to Francine!) The not-so-Good: There's an appearance of clean in the rooms, but not really. On my last stay, I was greeted by couch stains, rusty shower, and some leftover "mystery gunk" in the kitchen sink. It's the second time the TV didn't work, and the fourth time my digital key failed. The entire fridge moved around the kitchen whenever I opened it, LOL. Also, the lobby can get quite loud, since it occasionally turns into a hangout spot for large groups. Know before you go that the surrounding area can feel a bit mixed and while I've never felt unsafe, staying aware is a must. Pet owners, take note: The designated dog areas can get very messy since not everyone picks up after their pets and the hotel doesn't seem to maintain these areas well. If want your pup's paws clean, you'll need to find another spot for walks. Bottom line: When the price is right, this a decent option for an overnight stay. Just know there are some "quirks", and plan accordingly. Happy Stays!

The staff I will say are great and try to help with what they can. The first room I checked into was so hot and filthy, I had to request a room change. Not sure why I was given a handy accessible room with a broken faucet, dirty floors and dirty walls. I know it's been hot lately (78F) but the AC units don't seem to keep up in this building at all. The temps in the rooms barely budge lower and sometimes even creep up! Also power seems to be unreliable as it goes out at least once a day! Building looks a little neglected with lots of hallway lightbulbs not working, and just small issues like paint and cracks on doors. At first glance everything will look fine until you start looking more closely. Breakfast is just your usual complimentary fare of eggs and bacon, bagels, yogurt, juice and coffee. You can make yourself some mini waffles with syrup if that's your preference. I did enjoy the coffee very much. Couldn't access the pool as the room cards don't seem to unlock the gate and staff don't really know why. Wifi is also very spotty at this location as I regularly get disconnected for 30-60 minutes at a time. No water is provided so you'll have to get your own. Showers are nice and large with nice smelling soaps. Unfortunately, no moisturizing lotions but Jackson is fairly humid so you might not need. Beds are large and comfortable with those terrible hotel pillows. It's kind of your no frills residential hotels for a decent price.

Noticed the cleaning lady cleaned the room before mine then after mine, collected the towels but didn't replace them. Had to ask her for more. Realize Wednesday morning that the valet took some items out of my vehicle, hotel says the valet company is separate from the hotel. Had to get Jackson PD involved and I'm still missing my items. By Wednesday they still hadn't came into my room to clean it, no big deal I guess, I'm not a filthy person. Had to get my key card reset for some odd reason and my digital key in the app had never swapped to the new room and nobody at the front desk knew how to do it. Sitting at the desk Thursday doing some work. Just happen to look back a certain way and realize the bed is a bed like your house and doesn't sit flush on the floor. It was not my choice but it did the job. There was no backup plan at the Hilton. Since there was no staff available, the rooms that were occupied had to write their name on a list to get fresh towels, toiletries and etc.... There was a black American young lady with red hair that was remained calm, posed, attentive and professional as the crowd grew with disappointment. She was very helpful. She answered the phone while the others ignored them. Thats how we were able to get moved. Crazy part, it was her second day and she ead still in training. What an experience for her. Hopefully, they retain her and she don't walk out like the rest of the staff. Did I mention that there were a bus load of high school students that they had to find rooms for. So sad. They should have notified guest in advance that this occurred so guest could have made adjustments before arriving to the hotel. The outside and inside were clean and look decent.
