I am forever grateful to Beth for her help in not just cultivating my creativity but helping me find what was hidden and bring it out on my own. She creates a safe and fruitful atmosphere to thrive. Each person has five minutes to share and then another five minutes to receive explicit feedback. I sat there the first night and as I heard what she said to the others I developed an absolute trust in her wisdom and kindness. I believed and trusted what she said to me. Beth creates a supportive space where we all want each other to succeed and she brings out our best. If you are even THINKING about taking this workshop, you should. It's for everybody.

I first came to Beth's workshop when I was frustrated over trying to write fiction, and on a lark to improve my ability to tell funny stories, as in be more amusing at dinner parties. I got so much more than I bargained for! Beth is an encyclopedia of creative pursuits and has killer taste in comedy. She helped me make decisions on every aspect of my creative endeavors, and greatly encouraged me to not only find the humor in, but shape my life stories for best comedic effect. I also got to see how she brought out the best work in my classmates, tailored to their highly individual goals. Over a year of Beth's sessions, I also got a wealth of comedic knowledge and some of her "secrets" that I haven't heard anywhere else. I was a frustrated writer and jittery public speaker when I walked in, and ended up feeling confident in my plans and abilities. I've gone on to workout regularly at open mics and have performed in a few comedy shows. Truly something I never would've imagined!

I had the privilege of taking a class here that reminded me of our basic tools to make an improvised scene occur. It is taught in a true 'drill' like fashion. Getting 'the reps' in feels good as it takes the pressure off the end result. I had the pleasure of having the fantastic teacher Echo Cullem. He teaches from the heart, knows the rhythm of a scene and how things should feel. He is a person we could trust as a group collective and one that made me feel open and able to adjust and learn. Eco reminds us that 'The most important person in a scene is your scene partner.' Our class was lucky to be given this amazing experience and I will miss each and every one of my talented classmates. Training at The Groundling is an honor for any funny or talented person who might be blocked or need to hit reset and you owe it to your talent and your Los Angeles story to train here.

The culture is amazing at relaxation exercises that Lee taught specifically to the chair was awesome and I loved being taught it here. From day one the fantastic Holly Hart taught us levels of awareness and how to name things in terms of boundaries. My teacher Anne DeSilvio reminded us that we are just on a leaning journey and take the pressure off of 'nailing it' every time. The on Camera class with Chris Prinzo is upbeat and his notes are constructive and always help. No matter what he has your best interest in heart and wants to see you connect to the emotions within the relationship of the characters, the scene and the exchange between both actors. We were lucky to be taught by two family members related to Lee Strasberg himself here. The fun Sasha Krane took us through a very smart, sharp and dynamic scene study and would sharpen identifying factors to quickly break down these with the script. David Strasberg is great to work with and gives a session that is packed with information and new ways to use old tools we might not have remembered or knew how to use before. He teaches a monthly drop-in class which I look forward to being a part of as well. Jenny at front desk sets the kind tone from day one onwards and no matter what my question was I never felt dumb. I found them through a friend who did a voiceover workshop there, and I am so grateful I did! The acting coach, Joe Salazar, really takes an individualistic approach toward each actor, learning more about them with each class and allowing them to develop in a way that works best for them rather than using a more blanketed or singular approach. He delves into each characters' truths, guides you through building the world in a scene, and understanding what your characters are fighting for. Joe is phenomenal, and one thing I especially appreciated was that he knew how to support you without coddling you and critic you without discouraging you. He and this actor's haven are truly a hidden gem. This is not the type of acting class where you can get by doing only 50% of the work. He expects a lot out of the actors that come in and does not shy away from challenges that ultimately help you realize your potential. I would recommend anyone who is serious about acting to check out The Actors Company.

I spent a long time skeptical about taking a course and worrying it would lead to generic comedy or hack style. But I've known countless alumni of the class over the years and always wondered what was so special about it because they'd given me glowing reviews. This year I found myself wanting to sharpen tools in joke writing and re-invigorate my perspective on stand up altogether. The class achieved exactly that - plus introduced me to a really great community of people who are funny, smart, and kind. Gerry cultivates an environment that is rare in stand up comedy culture in that it goes against the negative cliches of being brash, cutting, competitive and toxic. The instructors are very generous with giving guidance in and outside of class. Besides feeling inspired personally, I saw classmates flourish and felt a tidal wave of love and appreciation coming out of class. Not to mention a brand new tight 5+ minutes to take around. I think it's a very smart move to start your stand up journey here, and if you're already involved but looking for a huge breathe of fresh air, it's here too.

I signed my 16-year-old son up for a summer fashion design program on the West Side of Los Angeles…read more The course was advertised as: **2026 FASHION DESIGN CAMP - WEST LA** **JUNE 29TH-JULY 2ND** **CAMP TYPE: TEEN CAMP (AGES 13-18)** Four days before the camp started, I noticed that it was being held at an elementary school, so I contacted the company specifically to confirm that this was in fact a camp for teenagers. I was assured that it was. On the first morning, my son arrived to find himself in a class with elementary-aged girls. There were no other teenagers there, not even a 13-year-old. When I called to clarify what had happened, I was told that unfortunately no other teenagers had signed up. This is where I have the biggest problem. The company presumably knew who was enrolled before the camp began. I think parents should have been informed that there were no other teenagers attending the advertised teen camp and given the opportunity to decide whether they still wanted their child to attend. The way you teach and structure a class for elementary-aged children is also very different from the way you would approach a group of teenagers. And summer camps are not only about what children learn. They are also about being with peers and potentially making friends. A 16-year-old arriving to find himself with no teenage peer group at all is a very different experience from the one we believed we had booked. I contacted Unincorporated Life and spoke to a member of staff who told me that sometimes this happens when no other teenagers sign up. He offered my son a place at their Hollywood location, where he said there were perhaps "one or two" other teenagers attending. I explained that my husband was traveling, I do not drive, and I had specifically chosen the West LA location because I could get my son there. I was also concerned by that vague assurance, of one or two other teenagers, given what had happened at the existing location. Hollywood was therefore not a workable alternative for us. I requested a refund and received no further communication. What also bothered me was the way the situation was characterized in writing. In an email, the company described the issue as Isaac wanting "a larger group of teens" and said that the "size of the teen group" had not met his expectations. That is not an accurate description of what happened. I had been told on the phone that no other teenagers had signed up for the West LA camp. There was no teen peer group at all. That distinction matters. I subsequently disputed the $800 charge through my credit-card company. The company responded that its terms and conditions state that bookings are non-refundable and that, because it had offered me an alternative location, it considered that it had fulfilled its obligations. My credit-card company therefore ultimately allowed the $800 charge to stand. So I paid $800 for an advertised teen camp that my son did not attend beyond arriving on the first morning and discovering that there were no other teenagers there. Had I simply changed my mind about the camp, I would understand a non-refundable policy. That is not what happened here. I specifically checked beforehand that this was a teen program, and nobody told me that my 16-year-old would actually be attending alongside elementary-aged children with no teenage peer group at all. What I found perhaps most disappointing was that there was no real acknowledgment that the experience my son arrived to was not what we reasonably believed we had booked. It left me with the impression that enforcing the non-refundable policy mattered more than whether the educational experience itself had actually met its stated purpose, whether we were satisfied, or whether we would ever consider using the company again. No prizes for guessing the answer to the latter. That is my experience of dealing with the administrative side of this company. I cannot comment on the quality of the teaching itself because my son did not stay for the program.
