But at 5:00 am I was awakened by planes taking off seemingly directly over the hotel. The employees were very nice, especially the breakfast attendant. It's walking distance from the beach and the main strip. We parked our car when we arrived and never touched it all weekend. The hotel also provides bikes to rent but we found that most places are walking distance and the roads/paths are not very bike friendly. Check in was super simple. Our room was very clean and updated. I wish they had smart TVs to connect to Netflix but we didn't spend much time watching TV anyways so it wasn't a big issue. The restaurant did seemed to get a bit noisy at night which drifted up to our room. The breakfast baskets were a BIG hit! The frittatas tasted so good! The fruit cups were also so fresh. I tried the prosciutto croissant on our last day which hit the spot. The quality of food was top notch - just wish we were able to order more! I had an appointment at the spa as well during our stay. The spa staff is super friendly. I used the robe and spa slippers provided in our room and spent some time in the salt water pool and hot tub before my appointment.
I'll start with the pros:…read more We loved this hotel because the rooms are pretty close to the lobby, not tons of walking. Easy to navigate with a 3 year old. The decor is very nice and the hotel has an overall just nice classy aesthetic with a beautiful actual working fireplace in the lobby. A HUGE one, they were nice enough to let us check in early. This is huge if you have children especially ones that need to nap. The hotel was super clean. Our room was spotless. The king suite offered so much space for the 3 of us. The location is pretty central to most things you'd want to visit in the area. The in-room breakfast makes it super easy in the morning to have a stress free bite to eat in the AM. All the food we enjoyed seemed a step above typical "hotel food" Another HUGE plus, it was basically empty the day we visited. We had the entire pool to ourselves. My 3 year old was in heaven. This alone was amazing, lol Ok so now the cons: The hotel is super DARK inside. It's just more geared towards adults. The room was painted black and also super dark. Just took away from the beautiful sunshine that was outside the walls of the hotel, Advertised in the room for smores roasting but was told by the front desk they stopped doing that. Advertised for Ben and Jerries Hotline which is another added cost when you are already paying so much for the hotel. Not much for families to do here. Or if there was activities or things to do, no one really explained them. All in all would stay here again being mindful of the caveats!!!!

One time we got their last room, and reported it as being a little musty. The hotel manager drove in from home, horrified, and put an air purifier in the room and sprayed. Fixed it right up. They also gave us a steep discount although we didn't ask for one. Every other stay we've had clean, fresh rooms. We've stayed about ten times. There is a nearby HI Express but we had issues with staff professionalism, and they cost twice as much as Super 8. At Super 8 you get a continental breakfast; for double your money at the HI Express you get eggs and sausage. That's it. Super 8 is the best value in Plymouth. If they show being sold-out online, call them directly, they can almost always accomodate.

As soon as we stepped inside we were hit with the smell of cigarettes. We thought it would be better but we were sent to the back of the hotel to get to our room and it was almost worse. We walked In and the smell was worse in the room even though it said non smoking. The toilet was dirty. The sheets had blood or something on them. The floors were wet and spongy. Definitely had mold under them. There is a reason there were no cars in the parking lot. When we approached staff about canceling our reservation as my daughter is highly allergic to mold they told us all they could do was offer us another room. No chance we'd be doing that. Save yourself the trouble and don't bother staying here.

We attended a concert at the Blue Gate venue next door, so for convenience, we decided to stay at the Blue Gate Inn. Breakfast was what you would expect, with made-to-order omelets, waffles, and other options. We had a double-bedroom room, and the total costs was $344.99 including fees. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing when it came to the cleanliness of the bathroom. The toilet had a BLACK rim around the inside of the top of the toilet. it was absolutely disgusting! You couldn't see it standing in front/top of toilet. It was visible when standing in bathroom doorway. This was not something that could be attributed to one missed cleaning. A toilet does not become that back without a significant buildup. A couple of days after our visit, I called Blue Gate Inn and informed a woman about the situation, including our room number. She asked if I had reported it to the front deck. We were in a hurry when we checked out, so I had not. I explained that if I owned the Inn, I would absolutely want to know about something like this so it could be addressed. She indicated that she would inform the manager and housekeeping. Several days have now passed, and I have NOT heard anything back. I wasn't necessarily expecting anything other than a response acknowledging the concern and letting me know it would be addressed. I thought that would be a reasonable expectation after bringing a cleanliness issue to management's attention. I guess I shouldn't have assumed that would happen. The location was convenient for the concert, and the Inn was beautifully decorated, but the condition of the bathroom toilet, expense of room and the lack of follow-up definitely left me disappointed.

Starting with the positives: The resort staff are wonderful, helpful, and accommodating. We forgot a toothbrush and they helped us locate one in their small store next to the front desk. Check-in was simple and finding our room was a breeze. The hotel is very long so expect to get your steps in! As far as the wedding goes, the staff were so kind and made my family member feel at ease for their big day. They have both an inside and outside venue so getting the chance to choose was also nice. The not so positives: the food we were served was okay. The morning breakfast was pretty standard but I could have gone without the eggs. It was the underbaked pizza that really did it for us. I couldn't bring myself to eat it. Twice while we were there we ended up ordering food in. The exterior of the resort needs a serious updating. Pulling into the hotel area had me a bit worried. Another reviewer mentioned it looked like a nursing home and they aren't wrong. The parking lot is in bad shape, landscaping is dead, sidewalks are broken and some of the cabins were boarded up. The rooms were comfortable but the decor and technology was dated. See photos. I believe this resort is very golf focused and could truly use a sprucing up. Thankfully the wedding was beautiful and service was great. No complaints there.

I'm going to give ALL the pros and cons because if I'm going to tell it I will tell it ALL. Good value for the rate of 300.00/weekly or 1200.00 monthly since utilities, full kitchen, bathroom, and WiFi are included along with some dishes and kitchen ware. I do like the Hammock and the Gazebo in the summertime Pros! Indoor pool--not operating now-- --if I didn't swim somewhere else--it might be a plus; but seasonal. It is more spacious than what you will get with most lodging hotels at the price and that is also a plus. And it is always a good thing that at least there are NO bedbugs. I can say that much for now. Always glad of that. That being said we all know there's no such thing as perfect. (You win some and you lose some. ) Cons! Currently dealing with a RODENT infestation. I didn't bring any with me so I don't want to take any back to my permanent home. The place is out in rural area but still doesn't explain why there are rodents when there is a cat kept next door in the shed/ cottage. I think that if you don't mind staying on top of the Inn Keeper's head to keep him focused then you may not have any problems or take issues that I did. I suspect things may also go differently for you if you are a male type guest instead of female in this cottage back here. I don't like to bother people and I don't want to be or expect to bothered myself! That is part of why I THOUGHT I was paying the money that I do for the stay back here. Not w/o hassle. I'm sure if Inn Keeper prioritized prompt upkeep and address of maintenance issues the same way he seemed prioritize asking about when and where I would be w/o clothes next or 'when I was going to Sunny Haven next' --his own words-- it wouldn't be now since July that lock on front door has still to be fixed, or these critter bugs and cobwebs removed from the corners of ceiling, and now rat problem, and slow toilets and tub drains fixed. With that said I really think that InnKeep could use some extra help around the property truthfully and that is the issue. One person trying to manage all this by themselves. I hope Host gets that resolved soon for this business which is otherwise/aside from current issues, a great place to stay / good value for pricing. I get the impression that degree of helpfulness is somewhat reflective of / varies according to InnKeep's hopefulness or expectations of friendliness / familiarity on part of the guest. Like I said I payed the 1200.00 monthly to have a place to stay when not at work or traveling somewhere else and especially NOT to be bothered. That's my one job. I expect Host to do his. Cash the checks that I give him and keep the place operational and repairs if needed promptly. SMH Dude called at 2130 while I was in the bed last night about the repair for the bathtub drain which I told him I would Yelp about if it was not done by days end. Really!?! So he said he got busy with ..... I stopped listening after that but he did agree to come out and fix it after he got off work today. Bankers/Postal hours should equal sometime after 1700 or 1800.
