    What should have been a routine phone upgrade turned into a devastating experience due to poor…read moremanagement and complete lack of accountability. I came in on a Thursday to transfer data from my old phone to a new one. Diana, the employee who initially helped me, was kind and genuinely tried to assist. A coworker even called me later that evening with an update after Diana had left. At that point, I still felt hopeful. Everything fell apart when the situation was handed off to the store manager. When I returned the next morning, the manager had no idea who I was or what had been going on. Despite me calmly explaining the situation and how critical my data was, he was dismissive, condescending, and clearly uninterested in helping. I was told nothing could be done. Canceling the transaction would take hours and would cost me a $50 restocking fee. Pressed for time and needing to return to Lincoln City, I felt forced to proceed based on his assurance that once an update was initiated, everything from my old phone would appear on the new one. I explicitly begged him not to erase my old phone until I could confirm the transfer was complete. He told me that was "not possible." It turns out my cloud backup only went through 2020. I lost the last five years of my life: irreplaceable photos of friends and family members who have since passed, critical text messages for my vacation rental business, and important documents saved on my phone. All gone. This loss is permanent. It was completely avoidable. And it was made worse by a manager who showed zero empathy, professionalism, or care. I am sharing this so others understand the risk. If your data matters to you--especially photos and business information--do not assume it will be handled responsibly here. One careless decision can cost you years you can never get back.

They won't tell you on their website - you have to call their 800 number and wade through their menus. After waiting on hold and giving my name, address, and phone number to someone who spent 5 minutes verifying that they have service in my area - no shit! - she transferred me to someone else who would supposedly give me pricing information. But that person needed to start from scratch by collecting all of my personal information again, before she'd just give me basic pricing information. Fuck these people for wasting my time, and for giving every potential customer such a run-around.

Second, they are stupid expensive and jack your prices up after you have been a loyal customer. Then after you waste that 30 minutes of your life waiting for a real person they don't want to offer you (their long time loyal customer) the same low rate a new customer receives. Then after you decide Dish is just a crappy company and don't want to give them any more of your money you decide to cancel your service. You agree to send back their equipment within 30 days. Great! Get rid of it! Netflix, Hulu and YouTube tv is way cheaper! You wait 1 week for the stupid box and return label, then someone shows up to pick it up but you have no tape to close the box. No worries, they say they will be back tomorrow to pick it up. Great! I go out and buy the necessary tape and have it ready to be picked up the next day. Problem is no one shows up to pick the junk up. I eventually send it off at a local delivery company and get my tracking number. One week later I get notified of the $500 charge on my account for un returned equipment!! WTH??? I call dish again, waste another 30 precious minutes of my life, and am told I'm SOL. Too bad. When they get it they will return my money. They tracked it and know it will be there the next day! Shame on you Dish. You need some lessons in customer service. I vow to warn everyone I know of your ugly business practices and I hope Netflix can one day run you out of business.

They told me I had to wait a week and put it on the side of my house. This morning some guy (driving a hatchback- hardly a work vehicle) jumps my fence and TRESPASSES to get the dish. No call. No knock at my door. Just jumps my fence and trespasses. Homeowners carry guns now, guy... Then this guy has the audacity to tell me I wasted his time. Don't call these people. I make my payment on the 6th of each month. Today I go online to pay and find that my bill is $5 higher than it was before with no explanation. So I call them to see what the $5 if for and they say it is a late fee. I tell them that I have never received a late fee before and this is the same day I always pay. They tell me because I am 20 days late, they now charge a late fee. I tell them I am not 20 days late that my payment is due on the 2nd and it is only the 6th. They then say the 20 days starts when they send the bill out on the 13th of the month. I then ask why don't it say that on line, but says current bill due date is 1/2/17. I ask if I can change my pay date so I don't get the late fee. They say NO! There is nothing we can do. I know this is not going to make any difference, These large companies can say an do anything they want. Receiving $5 more a month from thousands of customers is worth millions of dollars. Who cares about me and my little $5.

Now they say they will arrive tomorrow which will be our 3rd attempt. This equates to more than just loss of internet but 3 missed 10 hour shifts of work for me. Trying to actually talk to a person requires an act of God as the only option for communication is to do a "chat ". My problem is my internet so I CAN'T CHAT! When I finally got ahold of a human -after a 25 minute hold and a drive into town for a connection,he was very kind and made a next day appointment but that didn't happen as they had no linesman available. The second thing is that they charge the same as their competition (3.2 megabytes per second vs 100+ megabytes per second). The competition also has a tier system for how much you pay. CenturyLink charges you the same as folks getting 40 Mbps. The third thing is they charge $200 to cancel unless you suffer their service for two years. I got stuck with them by ordering DirecTV while living out of state and this was the bundle they offered. I just spent most of my tax return to sever ties with them. I just HATE to pay for garbage or pay $200 and getting nothing for it.
