Tom is the barber you had as a kid and hoped to find again in your new city! Even though, this is the same city I once lived in, 10 years later. Tom has been cutting hair for 55 years and as he says, "you have one view of your hair, I have the best!" He really takes pride in giving you the best cut for your head. Which, sounds weird to say, but in his words 'everyone's hair is different' and that's what fascinates him the most about his job! He was explaining why I should have shorter sideburns for my longer face. He also explained why I shouldn't go shorter than the length he cut my hair to. I went in with an idea of why I wanted, he delivered and next time I may let him do what he thinks would be my best cut. Ultimately, we all just want to look good with a new cut - he's the expert, after one visit I already trust him fully! Amazing. Straight edge razor - he uses one to trim the edges around the neck and sides. Cost? Okay, let this set in... $13. That's right, it's incredibly affordable at $13 a cut! It's actually a great motivation to let him leave it a little longer knowing the next haircut won't break the bank! Can't wait to go back for good conversation and a great cut! read more

The gentleman is very nice, and the first 2 times I had my hair cut by him turned out good. The 3rd time, he sat m in the chair, and was talking to his next customer, and just cut my hair without me saying a word, and he literally left my hair a mess. I think he was in a rush? That being said, after having to elsewhere to get the cut repaired, and then having to leave my hair grow out enough to get a decent cut, I won't go back. This is a surprise old fashioned business. He did a great job on my shave. I called in and got an appointment at a normal time. The owner/Barber is great, and makes me consider going back for a hot shave. He knows what he's doing and very nice. Make sure your neck is stretched, it'll get a workout haha read more

I feel like a lot of barbers take more time than they need to, talking and chit-chatting, in order to make you feel like you're getting your money's worth. What I love about Tom is that you're in-and-out in 20 minutes max. Not only is it fast, but it looks good, and it is so cheap. Sure, you don't get the head wash and massage, the high tech shop with nice TVs, but seriously... $13 for a haircut and a straight razor with warm cream? You can't beat it. And while he does the job quick, he is great to talk to as well. Honestly, I wish every barber was like Tom. Highly recommended. read more

Great cut at a great price. Tom has been cutting hair for over 50 years. He is fast and precise, especially since I'm very picky about my flat tops. Friendly and engaging without being super talkative. Location is on a corner, so it is easy to find. Parking is right on the street. Has a kiddie barber chair for little boys too. Today was my first visit to Comb 'N Shear. Tom knows what he's doing! He gave me a modified pompadour-style haircut and he did a nice job. Also, he suggested that my beard line under my jaw be tightened up some too. He was so right! After he cleaned it up I really noticed the difference. Thanks Tom. Good haircuts, good conversation. I usually avoid getting my haircut because I am a reserved man and dislike making phony conversation with random stylists, but Tom has a good vibe. He told me a great recipe for bread. He takes his time on your hair and even uses a straight edge on the ears/neck/sideburns. This is a great shop. Lots of great conversation, a great haircut and a fair price. Tom is especially good a the "flat top" style I like but, does many styles for young and old. I just had my first experience at Comb'n Shear. I was able to get an appointment on the day I called. Tom, the owner, immediately guessed why I was unsatisfied with my previous haircut. He did a great job and was really easy to talk to. I was in and out in under 20 minutes, and I left with probably the best haircut I've ever gotten. He charges $13 for an adult cut, which is an amazing bargain considering I'd paid twice that at the salon I used to go to. At that rate, I can afford to get my hair cut more frequently, so I won't end up looking so shaggy in between cuts. read more

I went to this barber shop because I was looking for a place to get my hair done and there are a bunch of people giving this place a good rating on this site...I should have known the moment that I walked in there that I should have walked right back out.... I seen an old white cutting hair for other old white guys, who basically had no hair. and here I am a young Black/white/indian male with 17 1/2 inch hair, but I figured what the hey, I'll give him a chance.... Tom was cool but he's never touching my head again.... He cut my ends the weirdest way I've ever seen, I almost had a heart attack.... Then when It came to lining me up.... He almost forgot the back of my neck.... He didn't do my side burns, I had to tell him to do under my mustache.... The guy goes your done and never even touched my Hair line, and left me with a crooked beard lining under my chin.... I probably could have done a better job if I lined my self up with a broken beer bottle and cut my hair with a nose trimmer.... what a waist of Gas and money..... On the other side of the story...
