Well after I douched it in vinegar, then sloshed it with brown sauce (try it, it's actually good) and washed every bite with a large gulp of Stella, it was bearable. Also I was really hungry. The next meal I ate was breakfast the next day in their restaurant called Chandlers. Open Hilton buffet, I expected the standard stuff. But wait, again I'm the idiot, its England. After spending about 20 minutes explaining to my Polish chef the meaning of 'egg whites only', and the waitress that instant coffee is not the international norm of hospitability, what did I get for breakfast? A crumbly 'omelet' and a cup of instant coffee. My third meal however wasn't all that bad. Stewed venison and mashed potatoes. Tasted well and looked fine when served. All in all, it's a regular Hilton in England. Don't expect the world, and you'll be just about satisfied.

This time however, there was little to no warmth in our checkin, minimal perks as a Diamond, and even the breakfast that was supposedly free for us cost me £19. But the worst part was the lack of cleaning - our floor hallway was never vacuumed and the pics bellow are o the same trash in exactly the same spots from time of arrival till departure. Our room was not cleaned either and after multiple requests, they came but only made the bed - bathroom was not cleaned, carpets not vacuumed and coffee/waters not replaced. Overall disappointing and sad that one of my fav hotels in the UK is not spoiled and I won't be going back to it.

With a moderate walk, you gain access to the central core of this historic city. However, our July visit was plagued by the horrible breakfast fare. For the money, the management could really upgrade the selections. The main issue was the broken coffee machine. In the height of the tourist season why would you not make every effort to fix this machine immediately. We asked and got no satisfactory answer. Bad, bad, bad. The grocery store across the street was our savior. We bought some fresh breakfast items and brought them back to the hotel as a last resort. The hotel was clean and well maintained. The parking is very tight and limited. Come on guys, you can do better!

The room was large and spacious, clean and tidy. It looked quite new, but i am not sureof it was recently refurbished or just looked after. The car parking facilities are good and ample for the amount of rooms. There was a complimentary breakfast included in our rate which was lovely. There was loads of choice and it was served buffet style in a large spacious restaurant which provided newspapers and a large tv screen. The staff were lovely and polite and abl to give me loads of information about what to see and do in the town.

My birthday treat for Mum was becoming ever-so-slightly sour having stood for five minutes in the lobby of the Royal Marriott hotel. We'd walk through its majestic doors, took in the gloriousness of the reception area with all its pomp and grandeur somewhat mystified by what a bargain we had nabbed ourselves. Receptionist: "...Oh wait. You want the OTHER Marriott hotel". Now, I know that Bristol is a fairly large city, but to have two Marriott hotels just a 15 minute walk apart - what are the odds?! (Apparently lots of people make that mistake. Hopefully.) When we eventually got to the right hotel, it felt ever-so-slightly anticlimactic after seeing the beautiful Royal counterpart. But it turned out that we had still grabbed a great room at a discount price. We had a view of the park, easy access to Cabot Circus and a very pleasant resident late night bar in which we had a night cap. The beds were of the sink-into-able kind, with a hot-hot-hot power shower for £70 for two people. To get the best deal, do a bit of internet shopping rather than booking direct - and make sure you go to the right hotel!

Reception staff we're friendly had were given a hot cookie on arrival which was a nice touch, we got into our room but noticed it hadn't been cleaned properly and looked as if someone had been sat on bed and had a half drank cup of coffee of the side. So went back to reception as changed rooms which was fine. The room was really nice aswell which over looked the front of the house. Although the window did brake slighlty when trying to shut. We had free access the gym and pool next door which we used but as it was open to the public didnt seem so relaxing as it should. Breakfast was Buffett style which was really nice. Rooms are spacious and have everything you would expect from a high end hotel. But probably the best thing about this hotel is it's wonderful spa. They really have gone all out and provided customers with ultimate luxury and relaxation. Prices are a little high, but for a one off special I reckon it's worth it. There is also a well equipped gym which is worth using as it's included in your hotel stay. The hotel is also situation in stunning grounds. The staff is absolutely wonderful, the bed and linens are extremely comfortable, the room is spacious and the amenities are very nice. The location is great and the rooms are extremely quiet. I used the laundry service since I was a week or so into my trip. They did an incredible job, they even got an old stain out of my jeans that I never expected to come out! I can't say enough great things about this hotel! I can not wait to return!

They had menu items I had never seen before on a Hilton breakfast menu. One option was Kippers which my brother and I tried out and split. It was basically a very omega rich fish in lemon and butter.
