Wild Animal Safari - Two toe the Giraffe

Wild Animal Safari

Came here for a celebration and truly enjoyed our time! The experience is so incredible, being able…read moreto safely interact with safari animals. The speed limit is 5mph, essential to follow because animals come very close to the cars and sometimes put their heads inside vehicles. We only ordered one bag of food per person in our squad (this was definitely not enough, I would've ordered a half bag or another bag more per person). The food is what keeps the animals engaged and attracted to you - so if this is the experience you're looking for make sure you keep this in mind. Being able to pet wild animals and feed them was so fun! Few things to note: you can rent a car ($30+) or use your own. Also, there are interactive experiences in the walk around area of the zoo I would recommend participating in if you are an animal lover and if so make sure you do reservations in ADVANCE. These are typically sold out. In summary, although the location is a little out the way, I'd definitely come back for the uniqueness of the experience.

Although there's not a large variety of exotics, there are enough very large heads coming at you to make it exciting! We laughed and squealed the entire time! Don't look away from your open window though, you'll end up with an animal head nudging you over!! We got the big giant reusable bag of food and so glad we did, we were able to feed animals all the way to the very end! We took our own car through and although a little anxious about it, the animals never touched it, just stuck their heads in the window and moved along when we started moving. Highly recommend for the entire family!!

We were surprised to see the newest residents, capybaras that arrived only two weeks ago. We could have spent the entire day watching the playful antics of the adorable capybaras playing in the water and also on land. Another favorite were the kangaroos. A baby Joey was in and out of his mother's pouch. Adorable and so much fun to watch. The driving part was truly an experience. Our vehicle was approached by llamas, zebras, buffalo, and deer seeking food from the buckets we had purchased in the gift shop. The animals roam freely throughout the hundreds of acres. The camels tried to grab the entire bucket of food! We had to hold the buckets tightly while they ate from them. The employees are extremely friendly and helpful, happy to discuss the various animals. The entire experience was very educational. We spent several hours here and truly would have enjoyed staying the entire day if we could have, but had previously scheduled another engagement. We want to return and bring other friends along for the experience.

Fed all sorts of animals from the car and in a walking area where they are behind fences. The animals are friendly but on the greedy side so they will snatch the feeding bucket out of your hand! Be prepared to get your car dirty as well as yourself. A great event for the family.

One star is giving this place far too much credit. It appears to be run by teenagers and people…read morewho can't get off their personal phone calls long enough to help paying customers. Teenagers (employees and guests) overran the place, pushing small children down, attempting to tear up the blow up slides, climbing onto the blow up dinosaurs to try to tear them down, bouncing small children off of the slide, and screaming profanity at any parent who asked them to stop sitting on the toddler gym blocking them from playing. There is no ice available for birthday parties, though they did drop stale popcorn in tiny paper bags and warm Capri Suns in our room, but the employee didn't say a word, or even smile, when she came in and I said thank you. The equipment is disgusting - no way it's cleaned daily, or even weekly. None of the bumper cars worked, the ball pit has no balls in it, the bounce houses have no lighting over them, making it so dark inside that children were banging into each other in the dark. "Children" larger than adults were freely playing on equipment clearly made for toddlers. Staff did nothing, despite our repeatedly complaining that the toddlers at our party were being hurt. The entire building seems old, dirty, and not at all taken care of. Would NEVER recommend this place to anyone, especially when paying so much for a birthday party. For a little more, Monkey Joe's would been light years better for our little ones, in safety, amenities for birthday parties, fun experiences, and cleanliness.

I LOVE this place. It's relaxed and not over bearing like its competitors. They allow you to bring…read morein your own food, lunches etc from where ever. They are affordable and do not impress upon you the need to spend money at a mind-numbing arcade section. I can see my kids play from one spot, and they LOVE the huge jungle gym! They are always changing things up as well. It's excellent. Also, if you have parties on Friday is cheaper and less crowded. I've never actually even felt like it was ever crowded but there are busier times than others. Overall, I will drive from Bonaire every time To come here! Also, it's clean and there is not staff to "monitor" your children, but I consider myself perfectly equipped to monitor my own children and do not require this service from a bouncy house business. That's what babysitters are for.

I can only imagine…read morehow hard it'd be for one to drive past and see the AWWW GOATS!! and not want to pull in; however, to visit the Hand Me Down Zoo, one needs an appointment ... and it's totally worth every cent! :) Kerry, who owns the property, is like a Mom to these animals that she rescues, protects, cares for, fosters, and educates visitors about. She is clearly passionate about what she does, and her efforts should be greatly appreciated. Hand Me Down Zoo gives a home to unwanted animals including exotics too, and she let us know which of her animal friends were available, and if you follow their Facebook page, you can get updates on new critters and creatures. She started our tour promptly right after we met her spunky kangaroo (to our huge delight!), and began with a safety intro and background story. The full hour was super fun and informative, and ended with us having the opportunity to return to the goats out front. I can't say enough nice things about Kerry and what she's doing and the animals that we fell in love with.

You get a private tour ( with about 15 people ) and walk around the entire place. Holy cow, the animals she has there are amazing! We got the story on each one, some fun facts, and a whole slew of other information about laws, and behavior and animal food and why these animals came to the zoo. So informative! So eye opening. Please be aware that the walk through could be a bit rough for the elderly or someone that does not walk well. Kids MUST be well behaved in order not to scare animals. There is a small gift shop as well. I think you should visit. The whole thing was about 1.5 hours. Very worth the time and price.
