Seems to be never ending hostility towards everyone this man encounters. What is going on!? After 7years it's still the same. Mark is the nice guy I hear about in the reviews. I think Gary is the rude one. Who answers the phone. And shows up to release the vehicles. If only Mark could be the one who answers and deals with everyone then everything would be great! It's not my first rodeo! I tried questioning my expensive bill and he told me they can charge what they want and it depends on if it was private or if cops towed it. But even with the cops towing it, it shouldn't have been $400 plus. From what the state says. Idk!? On the first day of pick up less than 12 hours later it's already $400. Holy cow! Each time I've gone I've had to sit and wait at the gate until Gary shows up. I didn't get any paperwork. No detailed receipt. Just the amount shown. I just don't understand how this guy can continue to work here. It's like he's the only employee lol. He's the only one always on call and showing up. Wish they'd get it together and get someone with understanding and compassion up in there. Maybe one day! read more

Seems to be an agreement that the guys doing the towing are pleasant, but the jerk who answers the phone at the office is rude and unprofessional. Do everything you can to avoid this place. read more

Owner/manager who answers the phone is extremely rude and abusive. We called to ask about extra charges that seem to be added and he just curses and says the bill we receive in the mail doesn't have to match. Then he sends an obviously doctored "more itemized" version. Filed a complaint with the DOL, hopefully they find a more professional company to work with for those of us already in a stressful situation. read more

Redneck pulled my car out of a ditch on River Road, as he doing it he pulled the right rear bumper loose and scratched my paint all along the right side. BTW the rescue that lasted less than 20 minutes cost $350. Never let Tia asshole touch you car read more

Comal Towing was called to pick up one of our cars at a collision site. the driver was extremely polite and professional. The man on the phone was very, very rude and condescending for no reason. 5 stars driver ***** 0 stars phone guy 00000 read more

I was hit by another driver. I was not in the roadway. They showed up 2 hours after being called by the police. Driver was polite, but Refused to tow anywhere besides their lot due to "protocol" I called to let them know someone was going to tow the vehicle to the body shop, whomever answered the phone was extremely rude and unprofessional, I've never had anyone every speak to me in such a disrespectful manner in my life, even though I was polite. The Comal police department will call these guys, CALL YOUR OWN TOW DRIVER before waiting for hours, just for them to refuse to tow where you want. read more

The original driver that showed up seemed nice, he informed me that I'll have to call in advance to get things out of my vehicle, and told me to write down the number on the side of the truck or take a picture. I called a while later that day, and requested to get my things out of my vehicle, the man on the other end of the line asked me what they were, I told him they were tools in the back of my car. He then requested again what they were, and I re-stated that I had stuff in my car I needed to get out, he asked again WHAT ARE THEY, and I told him again.. TOOLS.... He became aggressive and I then asked what was going on, I'm calling as I was instructed to do so by the driver to get my stuff out of my car, so I wasn't waiting an hour or so for someone to be there to open the gate, and I would like to get my stuff. I then heard him talking to another employee (with the phone away from his face I assume) saying "He wants to get some shit out of his car" aggressively... the other employee responds "He already got some stuff out" and I'm sitting there like *what is going on... I called like I was told to, and I want to get MY STUFF out of MY vehicle, why am I being hassled over this* The man comes back and tells me to call him again when I'm at the gate, so I said I'm heading up there... Thank you... I appreciate it.... and hung up. I got there and called again and told them I was at the gate. The man on the other end told me I would have to wait 30 minutes for them to open the gate, so I said thank you and waited. Nobody went in or out of the gated area for 30 minutes, and finally someone came to open the gate for me. I was greeted by the driver who picked my vehicle up earlier that morning after an accident and another man, the driver was again a pretty nice guy. I went to my car and got most of my stuff out and left. I called back later that day, and apologized for bothering them yet again and told them I had forgotten some important documents in my car and wanted to see if it was possible for me to come up there and get them. The person on the other end of the line, the same guy from earlier said "We're not sitting around doing nothing, we're not on the yard, we're out on calls, you'll have to call back tomorrow" and I just said I understand, thank you, I'll call back tomorrow. I called back the next day and told them I would be taking my vehicle out of their lot, the man didn't argue with me this time, he just gave me the total and told me I could pay by cash or credit at the time I picked it up. Another driver in a different truck was outside, he seemed pretty nice, but shook his head as he exited his truck after glancing over at me, since I didn't exit my vehicle to bother him, because for all I know he could have been busy with something else. I called, they were aware I was there, they can send someone out to meet me. I had another company meeting me out there to remove my vehicle and that was that. I would not recommend using Comal Towing for any reason. Both drivers seemed nice, but who ever is answering the phone for the highway 46 location, should be fired. They have no tact, no sense of empathy, and all you're doing is bothering them by calling. Remember, you work on their schedule, not the other way around. So just do yourself a favor and stay away from them all together. read more

From his disgusting mouthful of chew answering of the phone with just a grunted hello - to immediately lecturing me on how "nothing is free" when I never said anything about not paying, I was just confused with how insurance worked to cover the towing. Very bad business, ignorant driver. I taşked to the driver about the charge and he accused me by assaulting him. My car needed towing on a Sunday morning around 10:00. Waited 30 minutes for a response to know if they could make it. After they stated they were 'looking for someone to see if they were available.'. Another 30 minutes passed with no response. After I contacted them again they said it would be 'a while' before they could make it. What is 'a while' - 30 more minutes or 3 hours? I told them never mind I had someone else on the way. Had to pick a car up today that was towed on Saturday. I gave the owner of the car a ride to Comal Towing on 46. It was pouring rain today not what we had planned for and unfortunately we had no other option but to pick up the car today. We all work full time! The jerk that met us there was a total d head! When he got out of his truck I rolled my window down to speak to him ( remember I am the one giving the car owner a ride) the car owner was actively getting out of my car and he said in a very sarcastic rude demeanor " well someone get out and get wet in this rain and pick up a car " No we didn't want to be out in the rain but we work too! this was the ONLY opportunity we had to pick this vehicle up. I will never recommend this place. I'd rather leave my car on the side of the road than use this place. read more

Had an issue where I hit a deer last Thursday and totaled my car. Blanco County called Comal and the driver was there in just a few minutes. The driver loaded up my car and brought it and I to my home in Johnson City. The driver was professional and courteous, he handled my collector car like it was his own in both loading and unloading. Payment was handled over the phone and Garrison in the office sent me my receipt by email within 24 hours. Bad enough to crash an old car but being taken care of quickly and carefully, when you are still banged up from the air bags made the whole thing a little easier to take. If they take a while to call you back it is because the good one are busy. Thanks guys. read more

My car was unlawfully towed by Comal towing company!! They are scammers and need to be taken to court!! My car was at pier 21 in an area with no signs or any cables! We called the tow company and they said the call came from a park ranger and they will not release the vehicle. We got a hold of the park rangers who said there was no reason for the car to be towed! They said the call came from their manager Marcus, whom they could not give the number to. They only gave us the office number, it was Sunday and they were closed. The ranger tried to call the company to tell them they toweed the wrong car and the company said it would have to be their manager that tells them to release it, whose number we did not have and apparently the park rangers didn't have thier managers number either. They left us there in 106 degree weather with no options. This is absolute fraud!! My wallet and nurse badge was in the car!! This company needs to be taken out!! The park needs to qlso be held to higher standards! This is a public park and they should take care of their public! DO NoT GO HERE! read more

The guy who towed my car was rude and started being racist with me and my family would recommend it to anyone

This company doesn't deserve the 1 star I'm FORCED to give them to write this review. This company is the same in the New Braunfels areas as the San Marcos area. I dealt with BOTH locations on the phone. RUNAWAY if you have to deal with this company and bring the police to help you if you HAVE to deal with them. The San Marcos PD had our disabled car towed to this company around 11 pm the Tuesday night before Thanksgiving. I tried calling within the hour that I was notified by the SMPD with the company number I was given. The person answering the company phone (NOT a residential phone) was upset I woke him up. He became rude and started bullying me over the phone and then hung up. It was late and had together the money, so I started calling the next morning where they proceeded to hang up on me another 12 times, gave me 4 different totals, and cussed me out in less than a 16 hour period. I had to call the San Marcos PD to find out the exact location of my car since they REFUSED to talk to me and when I arrived I was forced to call the San Marcos PD again to help me retrieve my car since the worker/owner REFUSED to give me my car when I was there to pay in full for the JACKED UP holiday rate. The worker LIED and said he was the SM Police Dept impound and there was nothing I could do and kept walking inside his shop refusing to help me. Until I apologized, he was going to hold my car hostage and told me there was nothing I could do about it. I NEVER cussed at him once, but I did say "I'm here to pay for my car and I want it now". He informed me that I was NOT his mother. I informed him back that he wouldn't behave so rudely if he had been my son and would have learned some manners. I called the police for help and they arrived shortly after my call was made. They informed the worker he was NOT the SM PD impound, he was ONLY contracted with the San Marcos Police Dept. The worker changed his attitude when the police arrived and didn't support his lies to me. He was more cooperative, stopped cussing at me, and took my payment. I asked for a DETAILED/itemized bill since he kept changing the price. He told the police that was what he gave me and it was sent to my email. NOTHING in writing at that moment. It was ANOTHER lie, it's a flat fee with a date. NOTHING else. After the police left, we were allowed to have OUR tow company pick up and transport our vehicle. During the time it took for our tow company to load our car, the worker tried to bully and harass me more, but my car was paid in full and being removed. He no LONGER had me, hostage, since he couldn't keep my car any longer and I ignored him. I took this time to take pictures of their location since they have their towing sign hidden behind another company logo and location. I'm posting their location so that someone doesn't have to go to the level I had to go and can get their car out faster. The tow company never informed me that I needed proof of my ownership of the car, so the police had the tow worker accept my insurance information. They also didn't tell me if I brought cash It would have been cheaper than paying with a card. With COVID, I didn't consider the cash but would have to save almost a $40 difference in the charge. read more

On Friday, 22 July 2016, I was involved in a motor vehicle accident. The Police officer advised me that he had called the towing company on the rotation schedule. I was mortified, and I am embarrassed to say that I was so dumbfounded by the driver's rude and insensitive behavior that my husband had to tell him to back off. I find it hard to believe that Comal Towing Company would knowingly employ such a rude, abrasive, and unprofessional employee. He talked to my husband rudely, and told him "don't' bother fixing the vehicle; just give me the title". I'm appalled at such insensitive behavior, and have a good mind to take my business elsewhere. We called early the next day to have our vehicle towed to our home. They said the vehicle would be delivered in one hour and half (10:30am). They arrived with our vehicle at 4:pm. Poor communication and delivery of service. Its unfortunate a company known to our community employs individuals that influence consumers like myself to take my business elsewhere. read more
