Com Viet is a solid Vietnamese restaurant although not super expensive it isn't particularly cheap either. This is unfortunately one of the reasons it hasn't managed to achieve 4 stars from me. The decor, and generally shabby condition of everything including the dog eared and tatty menus give it the feel of a backstreet dive. My wife had a belly pork dish and I had a curry both of which were nice if not a little generic, presentation too matched the rest of the surroundings, not that I care much but it all felt a bit half hearted. Almost a case of "we're in tourist central, people will come whatever." They will, if I'm passing and I'm hungry I may well pop in again, but I don't think I'll be GOING there again. I'm aware I'm making it sound terrible and it really isn't, most of the food was lovely if not very inspired. The thing for me is Com Viet is a place to stop for lunch if you're out shopping, or maybe to have a quick dinner before the theatre (the service is very speedy). All in all not bad but equally you won't be raving about it to your friends. One last bit of advice if you like things spicy like I do you may want to ask them to throw a few extra chillies in the mix. The food does lack that punch you come to expect from south east Asian food. read more
