With their assistance in optimizing my photos, profile, and message strategies, my dating experience has completely transformed. A huge thank you to the team for their guidance!

Elizabeth and Susie are friendly, bubbly, and make clients feel comfortable and cared for. They don't just pair up people, but offer a range of services related to coaching, wardrobe enhancement, professional photography (for setting up matchmaking profiles), and they even regularly sponsoring events for singles that don't necessarily want to pay for full matchmaking services. I recommend Dating Directions to all my single friends, because I know they will get treated well and be paired up with people who share their values and interests. While the price is up there, it will save singles the hassle of "dating around" only to end up with jerks and losers. However, matchmakers aren't "magic" and can't magically create a pool of eligible men and women who meet every standard (especially crazy ones) of every person, but nonetheless, Elizabeth and Susie (and their great staff) do a great job to find a match for everybody. Quite a few marriages and other long term arrangements have resulted from their services.

In order to save one other person the grief I went through with this company, I will swallow my pride and admit to being curious about the services here. I'm sure the services are very good. It seemed like the company has some good strategies to offer singles. That's not my beef. First of all, there is not very much information about this place online. Not on their website or anywhere else. I felt sort of tricked into giving them some contact information, stupidly thinking it would gain access to more, preliminary info. No. After being hounded to "set up an appointment" I found myself waiting in their Polaris offices. I'm still just wanting some basic info at this point, but no one seems to give me any answers. Soon, I'm lead into a tiny room, locked in, and forced to watch a 10-minute commercial about how great they are. This person keeps coming in, asking me personal questions, and then leaving to go talk to her "supervisor" about approval. I don't even really know what I'm signing up for yet, and what my financial responsibilities might be. At the end of the "interview" where they "offer" me a membership (members have to be screened, which in theory is good but I wasn't even ready to go that far). Then they ask for "a couple hundred dollars down payment today." What!?!?! What does "a couple hundred dollars" mean, anyway? I wish they would have been more upfront with the price range before they held me hostage for 1.5 hours, which is how long this process took. Nevermind that I had to go all the way out there to get it. (I know, I know, stupid me for letting it get that far.) I called the company to complain once I got home. The whole thing reeked of cheesy timeshare sales. Pushy sales tactics, too-cheerful employees with no direct answers to basic questions, and generally very shady. The woman I spoke with on the phone got kind of mouthy with me when I told her I didn't appreciate getting any financial information before I spent so much time and effort trying to learn more about the company. She snapped "well, would you look for more information about us if you knew the memberships cost $5,000?" Uh, no. And I wouldn't after 1.5 hours of pushy sales tactics, either. I can't speak to the services of GE once you are a member. Again, it seems like there are some good ideas there. But why all the smoke and screens? Rattling off statistics about "how much singles spend at bars and restaurants looking for a mate." What? People do that? If these memberships are so pricey and exclusive, it is just good business tactics to be upfront about it. Embrace it, even.

I wish that Yelp would have been around back around 23 or so years ago....maybe it was. Anyways,…read moreI would loved to had saved these ladies some grief dealing with this company. Back in the early 90's, I went in to check on this company's services. The bottom line is that I had signed up, but within the 3-day "cooling" off period I decided that I really did not want to spend this kind of money on their so-called services. When I asked them to credit my card, they just ignored me. It took me having to threaten them with reporting them to the Attorney General's office and the BBB in order for them to finally credit my card. Good thing I at least had the sense to had put it on my card or I'm sure I would have never gotten my money back I'm thinking. So, ladies please don't feel badly....others like me have had their bad experiences with this company. I don't know why they haven't been shut down. Fast forward to 2015; I input some info on the internet thinking that they are affiliated with another singles web site. Yes, I'm still single :( Well, they start calling me to come in. Thank God, I checked them out here on Yelp and found out shady they are. And most likely one and the same as Great Expectations it appears. I am NOT dealing with this company either. Learned my lesson from many years ago. I hope that this helps someone and prevents them from even contacting these companies (the other one is Columbus Singles).

Tamara had completely ignored my email request to her for this as did Tom Bridgman (my State of Ohio manager during my contract at the State of Ohio). I also never signed off on my final week of hours that I worked for Halcyon at the State of Ohio DPS & EMA which is something I was required to do on a weekly basis as a contractor for the State of Ohio through Halcyon but the hours were submitted by Tamara McCalla of Halcyon regardless. Halcyon has no documentation (paper or digital) of my approval for this week. Also, my access to DotStaff seems to have been revoked. Dot Staff is the web app I utilized to submit my hours so I have not even been able to go in and see what Tamara McCalla even submitted for me without my permission or approval of the hours. Here is a link to DotStaff - https://my.dotstaff.com/xdesktopdefault.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2f Also here is a link to the Halcyon management team - http://www.halcyonit.com/management-team/ The 2nd attachment is the screenshot of my CIVS (a 2nd time tracking tool of the State of Ohio) that as a contractor, I was required to enter my time into. This was used in conjunction with DotStaff between the State of Ohio and Halcyon for getting contractors paid. Please let me know if you have any issues with either of the attachments. I have had virtually no communication with Halcyon since I stopped working for them as a contractor, except for 1 phone conversation with Tamara McCalla and 1 phone conversation with Alan Day (which I had to initiate via a voicemail I left him several weeks ago) which is how i finally managed to get a screenshot of my CIVS although the hours shown are incorrect and I assume entered incorrectly by Tamara McCalla into DotStaff without my permission and approval of the hours worked as stated above. I will also include an attachment of an email reply from Tom Bridgman showing the hours shown in the CIVS screenshot are incorrect. Please let me know how else I can help. Sincerely, Brent Embrey
