On Saturday Amazon notified me that my package had shipped, I was very happy until I saw that the carrier was Prestige Delivery Services. I have a history with this company in Michigan, Indiana and Ohio and I knew right away that if I received my package at all it would not be on time nor would it be undamaged. Prestige marked my package as "Out for delivery" at 8:24 am on Monday. I did not get any other information until 6:40 pm when my package was marked "Delay in delivery due to external factors". I called Amazon customer service immediately and told them firmly (and not for the first time) that I can not accept Prestige as a carrier due to their inability to deliver the items that are intrusted to them on time and undamaged. I received a refund for the shipping costs, but that is not the point. I do not mind paying for an item or for shipping, but I do expect that when a delivery date is promised that Amazon delivers on its promise. An Amazon customer is not responsible for the actions of a carrier, Amazon is. Amazon needs to realize that Prestige works for them and when an employee/contractor repeatedly fails to perform you fire them. I love Amazon. I am not a Prime member, but I am an avid Kindle user and Amazon is always my go-to online retailer. I am going to be deeply saddened if I have to end this relationship due to the incompetence of a third party company. Your guess is as good as mine as to whether or not Prestige will deliver my package on Tuesday. Prestige marked the shipment as "Out for delivery" for a second time at 8:21 am on Tuesday.
