Our difficulty was going to be finding one slab that was 23" deep. We knew that was a tall ask. A friend of ours suggested we drive out to Johnstown and check out Almendinger Sawmill. We visited on a chilly Friday afternoon and we began by looking around their huge wood yard located in a large barn. We we impressed with the selection and the affordable prices. Everything seemed priced so fair, we almost could not believe it. Our initial plan was just to look. We wanted to get an idea of pricing, what it may cost for us to get what we wanted for our project. Then we met Clint. He is a young, gregarious man that seems to have a vast knowledge of wood and what they have in stock. He showed us many options even though the depth we were asking for was tough. Ultimately he took us to a finished slab of maple wood that was breath taking. I actually ooohhed when Clint revealed the piece. He laughed out loud because I believe he knew he had just made a sale. The price was beyond reasonable so we said we would take it. We have not regretted it since. In fact, we believe we made the best decision by stopping by and checking out Almendinger Sawmill. We are beyond thrilled with our slab of wood and we can not wait to begin our project. We feel so lucky to have met Clint. We are so glad he helped us out that day. We will absolutely ask for him in the future when looking for our next peice of wood. We will definitely be getting it at Almendinger Sawmill. We were doing a backyard project. We decided to dig the dirt out a space between our garage and…read moreour pad were we park. We wanted to fill it with rock. We searched on the internet and visited a couple of locations. Rock seemed to be pricey at the places we visited. Then my husband came across Darby Landscape Supply online. They seemed to offer rocks at a much lower price. They even had hours on Sunday, which was super helpful for us, seeing that our digging took us longer than planned. We hopped in our truck yesterday and drove down to Orient. When we pulled up we were greeted the only employee working as we were getting out of our truck. She showed me one type of rock that she thought would be perfect for our project. If I am honest, I did want some larger stone, but she said that they didn't have any larger stone available currently due to all the rain. It seems that they aren't able to get down and dig the stone when everything is so wet. Because of their incredible prices and us wanting to keep our project costs to a minimum, I went ahead and agreed to the rocks she suggested. She hopped in the huge backhoe, scooped up a literal ton of rocks and then carefully dumped that in the back of our truck. She was very careful with our truck with I appreciated. After she was done we went inside and paid her. For one ton of rock we owed her $35, I would saw we won. We were pleased with Darby Landscape Supply and would not hesitate to stop by in the future for either our rock or mulch needs.

THIS IS A TRUE STORY - My wife and I went into panel town to take a look at their showroom. We…read moreended up finding a floor we liked there but decided to go through with purchase and installation through another company. Panel Town took this as an insult and the owner called the company we decided to move forward with and strong-arm'd him into using them (panel town) as the supplier of the hardwood. THIS IS WHERE IT GETS SHADY AND CROOKED. After our guy agreed to go through panel town to by the boards, the day we were having our floors ripped out and prepped, Panel Town told us that the boards we had ordered and confirmed were in stock were NO LONGER AVAILABLE... Turns out they didn't even place the order and we confirmed this by calling the manufacturer of the hardwoods and they said that Panel Town hadn't placed an order of that particular boards for 3 months. SO THEY DIDN'T EVEN PLACE OUR ORDER OUT OF SPITE BECAUSE WE DID NOT GO WITH THEM TO BEGIN WITH. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. These people are shady and vindictive. However, if you do decide to go with them do not take their first price. They will always go down on price lower and lower to get your business but they may screw you in the end so NOT WORTH IT.
