Many were negative and some of the positive ones almost seemed like they had their relatives write them. So, I took a chance on Fort Road Appliances and called them. I accurately described the problem with washer and the guy on the other end of the line was almost certain he knew what it was. (Another place I called had the guy telling me it could be the wiring, etc. He didn't have a clue!) I asked how much it would be and he said he could be here the next day. I got a two hour window and he was here 15 minutes into that time window. He got right to work, diagnosed the problem and fixed it. I think he was here less than an hour. I paid what I was quoted and I wasn't going to have to worry about dirty clothes any longer. I paid cash, but I could have also paid by cheque. He didn't have debit and I'm not sure if he could take a credit card, so keep that in mind. The washing machine has operated flawlessly since. I won't hesitate to give Fort Road Appliances a call again should I need another repair. For obvious reasons, I hope I don't have to call them again! Appliance repair tips: - Do some research online before you call an appliance repair company. It's almost guaranteed that someone out there has had the same problem you've had and they've written about it online. In doing this you'll have a rough idea what the problem is, so if the guys on the other end of the phone don't sound like they've got a clue based on your accurate description of the problem, maybe take a pass on their services. Obviously it could be something else, but there's a good chance you can narrow down the range of possibilities. - Make sure to note the make and model number of your appliance when you call, as well as a thorough description of the problem. You'll want to make sure the repairman knows the key details so he can bring the right parts with him.

He claimed he fixed my dryer. He didn't. After it broke again, they suddenly decided it needed replacing. Then came the complete lack of communication -- over a week went by with no update until I had to chase them down. Scheduling was a joke. They refused to work around normal 9-5 jobs, then promised a weekend delivery before noon. Shockingly, they didn't show up on time. I had to call them at 11:40am just to remind them, only to be told to reschedule. They then promised to call Monday. They didn't. I had to call again Tuesday. Three weeks later, still no working dryer and nothing but broken promises, rude service, and zero accountability. If you enjoy being talked down to, ignored, and chasing a company to do the bare minimum, this is the place for you. Otherwise, stay far away.

The technician arrived on time, was courteous, professional and seemed to be competent. After about 30-45 minutes he told us that we needed to replace the heat pump and that it could not be repaired. We paid the service fee of about $200 and asked that they send out someone who could give us a estimate to replace the heat pump. 2 days later another technician came out, and gave us an estimate. Again, he was on time, courteous, professional and friendly. I mentioned the need to replace the heat pump to a friend who lives in our building. He mentioned another company and so we called them to get an estimate on replace the heat pump. They came out, and looked at it, asked some questions, did some maintenance and the heat pump is working! No replacement needed! Getting this 2nd opinion saved us literally thousands of $. We are so grateful for the other company and will probably not call Acclaimed! again for a repair - since either their technicians are not competent, or they tried to sell us something we didn't need. After I posted this review, the owner of the company apologized for the misdiagnosis and offered to refund the initial service fee. He was very polite, listening and we had a good conversation. He handled this with grace and so much better than other owners. I'll raise my rating to a 2 from a 1 because of this call. It was appreciated.

He explained everything in detail to me. Not only did he fix the problem, but explained how I could save money in the future. There is know where else I would every go to for furnace issues. After drilling the concrete and installing the mounting bracket, we realized that the new unit was bigger and was blocking the side walk access to the back yard! I suggested that we look at mounting the air conditioner on the opposite side of the house. After looking at what was required to relocate the unit, Curtis and Nathan remounted the brackets to the wall and made the necessary changes to accomodate the install. The air conditioner was running by end of day and ready for the 30 degree temperatue that we had the following day. Job well done. I was very pleased with the way the install went even with changing the location of the unit!

My old Miele dishwasher broke down the other day,…read moreand after a nasty experience with another appliance repair business in Edmonton, we had the appliance repair division of Sherwood Appliance (now known as Mr Appliance in Sherwood Park) come out to look at the dishwasher. The repair technician, Zoltán, was extremely competent, experienced, and polite. Sadly, after his evaluation, we discovered the parts to repair the old dishwasher would almost total the same price as getting a new dishwasher! We originally considered buying another Miele at a Miele dealer like Trail Appliances, but after our old Miele broke down after only slightly more than four years of use, we began to consider giving another brand a try. Zoltán contacted his own company's sales manager, Rob, from Sherwood Appliance who then, assuming we wanted another Miele, referred us to the private number of his counterpart at Trail Appliances, assuring us that we would get the best possible service if we dealt with them after mentioning that Rob referred us. Rob also invited us to look at the wide inventory Sherwood Appliance had in stock if we ever wanted to buy something other than a Miele. This openness and attention to customer service impressed me so much I asked Rob what brands Sherwood Appliance had in stock, and it turns out that they have one of the best inventories in the greater Edmonton area of in-stock items! I was already tired of washing dishes by hand, and we wanted a new dishwasher as soon as possible. To make a long story short, we still wanted to stick with a European brand, so we ended up purchasing a new Blomberg dishwasher through Rob, and he pulled every string possible to get our delivery and installation done that same day. This is a company that really goes above and beyond for the customer, and I highly recommend them, both for appliance repair and the purchase of new appliances.
