I've stayed here about 8 times in 12 years. It was recommended to me by a few different friends (including some musicians-it is THE London rock and roll hotel, don't you know) and wasn't expecting something luxurious. It's not, but it's clean, the staff are really nice and friendly, and the same ladies have been serving breakfast in the past 12 years!
It's located across from Hyde Park and close to the Lancaster Gate Tube stop and Paddington Station. We've always been given a room that faces the park, which can be a bit loud due to traffic noise, but you also get a view of the park, horses (there is a stables nearby) and art shows on the fence around the park on the weekend.
The rooms range from singles to huge family rooms. I've only stayed in double rooms, so can't comment about any other size, though I've peeked into some rooms when they are being cleaned and some are much nicer than others). The decor is a bit dowdy, but the basics are there.
The bar is open late for hotel guests and there is a large lounge to relax in.
The last time we stayed was when the Tour de France started in London and the location was perfect, and there were loads of other cycling fans about to add to the excitement. Sure, it's not the best hotel in London (and quite far from the worst) but if you want a decent place to stay for a fairly reasonable price, this is a good choice. read more
