As Yelp is all about food, it's time to add another star here. The new bar/cafe is a winner and good enough for a detour if you don't happen to work at Westbourne Studios. They have a daily menu including a hot main, a soup as well as a tart served with or without salad. You have to be quick for the salads (currently a selection of two, here's hoping they'll add more soon). There's also a good choice of sandwiches, all reasonably priced. There's plenty of seating and free wifi (not the best connection, mind). read more

Underneath the Westway is literally underneath the westway (the A40). Tucked away inside Westbourne Studios, on the same road as the old Subterania (yeah!), during the daytime this bar / restaurant serves the creative folks who dwell in Westbourne Studios. The studios operate as as a collective of offices, predominantly filled with fashion designers, film companies and PR types. During the daytime and at breakfast, the restaurant serves quite a simple, but tasty menu of english breakfasts, salads, burgers, accompanied by fries and coleslaw. A cafe / bar type place with massive leather sofas and part of the roofing being a cut away section of the Westway Flyover... Perhaps I've been reading too much J.G. Ballard recently, but I found it quite spectacular.... It's like an off-scale concreted underside of a penis you can have a coffee or drink under, what more could you possibly want?? read more

Underneath at the Westway is well worth a visit, although plan on getting lost the first time you try to find it. The venue itself is a mixture of office space, bar, and dancefloor, but it works surprisingly well, helped in no small part to some great architecture. Food and drink prices are pretty reasonable, considering the location, and there is plenty of seating and space to chill out. They also have probably the largest projector screen I've ever seen inside a bar in London, so its a great place to watch the footy!! read more

apparently this place is a multi-purpose type venue, i went on Saturday and it was a bar/club more or less. the space was HUGE, so huge it actually looked too empty. we arrived past midnight and the cover was £10, no issues getting in or anything. there were a decent amount of tables/seats that were open and you didnt have to reserve/pay. decor was funky, looked like a warehouse decked out with fake palm trees? we closed the club around 3am, so not the best afterparty place to go if you want to stay out later. had a decent time, but not likely to return.. there are just too many new venues to try in London! read more

Westbourne Studios is a little hotbed of creativity located in an out-of-the-way under-and-above-the-Westway building. I discovered it only by virtue of once taking pilates classes here and was amazed that the space is comprised of dozens of design/production-oriented businesses, many enclosed in glass walls, a huge auditorium (for screenings, performances etc), and a cafe/bar/restaurant adjacent to a large central courtyard, complete with leather sofas and a pool table (technically part of members club "Under the Westway" but basically only for special events and according to a guestlist). The space is constantly alive - I've seen bands and DJs, art workshops, theatre rehearsals, photoshoots, clothes sales, film festivals, you name it. read more

I love Underneath the Westaway, once I find it. Don't bother going during the day, night time is when it all happens. Try to get there before 12 as well or else you will have real difficulty getting in (they can be a bit tight on the door). That said, once in there is a very fun vibe and the dance floor is always packed by the end of the night. read more

The west way is no longer what it was the owners of the bar owed money on the rent and did a runner the bar closed and now it's a foodie place run by Eastern European types not a dj or pint in sight as far as I know the club is closed for the foreseeable future read more

I went there a few weeks before for a friend's bday. Personnaly, I really enjoyed it. I had heard about the venue and its space (ceiling=the Westway) but had never experienced it as I'm more used to go out in East London. When the place packed up, it turned into an amazing party, people dancing everywhere around sofas, at the bar, on the dancefloor. We were a group for a bday. Under the arches! In the old days this would have been a dark and dank Victorian hole under a steam railway. Fast forward and you have a huge modern space built right under the A40 as it arcs its way across London. Look up from the inside and there, way up above is the concrete underside of the motorway forming the new ceiling. . A cavernouse space lit with psychedelic effects, two fifteen foot speaker banks, probably two DJs, there are enough throbbing decibels to wake the ancient ones, turning your chest cavity into a resonating kettle drum excellent. . Jolly and efficient bar staff and nice crowd; no ruffians here, insulated from the sleazy booze driven chav nightmare found along many local High Streets. . Watch out for long queues for the only 2 toilets though. . All good natured and friendly, great fun. . (And, a great tip getting there, turn right from Westbourne Tube Station, right again by the Metropolitan Pub and again, keeping right as far as possible down the footpath and further down there is a footbridge across the railway tracks almost directly to Westbourne Studios saves wandering off into no mans land going the the other way round Elkstone Road, as Google maps would direct you.) . I have been a member at the Westbourne Studios for a few years now, but have recently enjoyed more than ever their Saturday night parties. I went to Bacanal a few weeks ago and Unleash in October with Robert James. It was an amazing night.
