    More cute and kawaii goodies!
    Cristina G.

I stumbled on this store via Instagram this past New Years, and only a little later did I find out there was a brick-and-mortar store. And let me tell you after frequenting 4 or 5 times, I can tell you I'm OBSESSED with Colorful Cute. It's a relatively new spot run by a fabulous owner, Madeline, that focuses on stationary, cute plushies, and all sorts of cool manga/anime type goodies. She also sells some clothes, jewelry, packaged snacks, and drinks. If you're about that pastel kawaii life, this store is for you. She is absolutely fantastic. She greets every customer that walks through her doors with so much warmth. And she is ready to help you as best as she can. When you're ordering online, whether through IG or the online store, she also goes above and beyond to help you secure the products you want. I suggest following her IG (@ColorfulCuteGoods) for the days that she announces new products! For instance, via IG I found she was able to get a limited supply of limited edition Sanrio merchandise that dropped recently. She offers unique experiences too! She has Gashapon Punch Boxes and Ichiban Kujis! For the punch box, you pay for however many punches you want, you pick the theme of the prize (might be cats, of jellyfish wind chimes, etc.) then you punch and claim the mystery prize! For the Kujis, she'll announce what prizes could be won, then you buy a ticket to win a mystery prize from within the set. I haven't done it myself, but I love the concept. I've seen the prizes on IG and they're super cool! They range from posters to figures to bags. All sorts of cute stuff! The Kujis are usually based off a popular anime or manga. The thing I go back for are the pens, stickers, stationary sets, notebooks, and pins. If you loved the Hello Kitty store as a kid, this is very similar to that. The cutest Stationary and pens ever! Oh! And all sorts of washi tape! Why buy them on Etsy, when she has a bunch, both single rolls and combo rolls. The coolest product I got from here is a notebook specifically for putting your stickers, where the pages are laminated. I haven't seen that since I was young. Madeline has her finger on the pulse of all things kawaii. I'm always looking to see what cool new thing she's going to introduce to us. She loves bringing in local artists and featuring their stuff. I just bought some handmade earrings from SweetFlowerKiss today! My favorite thing to do after visiting is to get a little boba tea to enjoy as I sort my new stationary when I get home lol. I can tell you, all my friends that I send the stationary goodies to go bananas when they see her stuff. So if you haven't given this spot a visit, do it!!! You're sure to find something that will make your day a little brighter. It's great for anyone that loves pastels, stationary, kawaii goodies, anime, manga, Disney, and all things cute.

Amazing vibe and super kind employees! I recently got into blind boxes and their trading system makes it even more enjoyable.

Good, good selection. Just a bit expensive but it makes sense since most of their products are imported.

The Golden Triangle has been in the Gables for as long as I can remember, and the perfect place to pick up a unique gift. I usually go for crystals and incense but they have a lot of interesting things. If you want to pick up something unique and meaningful, this is your spot. Parking is ample on the street, but be mindful of times as during lunch and happy hour times its busy. There is a garage on aragon right by the store so it's a good option as well. The folks at the store are always helpful if you have questions about what may fit your needs best.

I visited here around 1 PM on a Monday in November. There was one person finishing up a big shop and chatting with the employee as we walked around and looked and interacted with all the little trinkets. It's so hard to even describe the store because there's any and everything here. In the back right, there were clothing. In the front right of the store, there were magnets and other things for your desk. In the front left of the store and along majority of the left wall, there was everything from essential oil of candles to incense. In the middle of the store, it was a mosh pit of everything else you can think of that is inspired by south and Southeast Asian culture. I go to the swap meet, flee market, and cultural stores a lot and this place was a bit cheaper than what I seen in other places. The only downside to this place is that it is overstimulating. I love colors but even this was a bit much for me. I was visually overstimulated. The smells were a bit overwhelming. I was just not prepared for that.

The Miami Fair Trade Market is located in the beautiful and historic Coral Gables United Church of Christ. The church was built in the 1920's by Coral Gables founder and designer George Merrick in honor of his father Solomon who was a minister. It is located across the street from the Biltmore Hotel. The idea for the shop came from senior pastor, Rev. Laurie Hafner, who wanted an alternative in Miami to all the shops that use child labor, sweat shops, and ither inhumane practices. The mission is to "support artisans in over 30 developing countries by purchasing their indigenous products made under safe working conditions. Whole village standards of living are raised with trade, not aid. Fair Trade is a trading partnership based on dialogue, transparency, and respect. This system of exchange seeks to create greater equity and partnership in the international trading system." You can rest assured that the mainly women artists are paid a fair wage and there is no child labor involved. I love the message of this shop, a hand up not a handout. It is small but carefully curated with beautiful and affordable things. I ended up purchasing a bracelet made of clay beads hand rolled in Haiti for my friends present. I was able to include a card in the organza bag my bracelet was placed in that explained the meaning of it. After looking through all of the beautiful jewelry I ended up purchasing a silver chain from Bali and paperclip link chain as an early birthday present for myself. The shop also sells award winning olive oil, notecards made by a local artist, tunics, gorgeous scarfs one of which was modeled by Ruth Bader Ginsburg in a picture, hand made toys, and accessories. They even have some Easter items in right now. You can read little signs about the items you are purchasing and the part of the world your purchase is benefitting. Donna helped me and I left feeling like I made a friend. I can't say enough good things about this precious shop. Follow their Facebook page and Instagram to see what is new. Next time you need a one of a kind gift or just a treat for yourself, head here and put some good out in the universe by supporting people in the developing parts of the world.

There are myriad unique gift items that you can't find anywhere else! The clerk Donna is friendly, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful. I purchased an item called The African Safari Tea Party with beautifully hand-carved little animals, each surrounded by teacups while sitting around an exquisitely carved, hand-painted table. ALL of these pieces were only $42.00. There is such a wide variety of items to choose from and stories to go with some. The items are very reasonably priced. The jewelry and clothing are breathtaking and completely unique. Shopping at Fair Trade is an eye-opener and a sheer delight. I recommend it highly - not to mention, your purchase is a step forward toward the eradication of poverty, while creating higher standards of living for the artisans and their families. I can't wait to go back! What's not to love...unique items at fair prices while giving back and promoting fairness to well-deserving, talented artisans from a variety of global communities? A resounding two thumbs up!!
