FWIW, I've had 20+ blowouts at this Dry Bar location and have only been disappointed with the…read moreblowout itself once. I'm used to waiting at salons. I wish it didn't happen, but it's the nature of a services business. If the wait is under 15m it's fine. Perhaps there could be a way to check in and view wait time through the app to provide more transparency. I bet other business owners at Pike and Rose would love to monetize that 15m wait time and you could earn through ad revenue :) I'm leaving this review for the owner of this location. You have an incredibly talented team who are clearly overworked and underpaid. I don't know what flexibility you have in the franchise model, but you probably have more pricing power than you think. I would happily pay more for my bar fly membership. I am not ok paying a $30 surcharge on top of a $69 blowout when my appointment takes an hour instead of 45m (it has for the years I've used DryBar), there is clear friction between mgmt and staff, and mgmt and customers. I realize it's incredibly tough to run a low margin service business, and empathize as a former retail store manager. But I sincerely hope you'll level up the experience for all stakeholders...FWIW I realize there are similar challenges everywhere but the Georgetown location has figured this out. Just my 2c. Thanks for hearing me out.

I debated posting about this for a while because I completely understand that issues happen, but…read moreafter thinking about it further, this has been a recurring issue at Drybar that leadership should really look into finding a solution for. This isn't the first time I've experienced this and reading other reviews, it seems several others have had similar experiences. I recently booked an appointment at Drybar two weeks in advance for first thing in the morning before an important work event that morning. I received an email asking for confirmation the evening before, which I confirmed. I arrived about 15 minutes before the salon opened for my 7 am appointment, and waited in my car directly in front of the salon until about a minute before to not bug them before officially opening. When I walked in, I was told by the person at reception that two stylists had called out that morning and that she already had someone in her chair, so she couldn't take me. Aside from them not handling it very kindly or with any remorse when I explained my situation, I'd really urge Drybar leadership to rethink their plan and policy for employees calling out for early morning appointments, which I completely understand happens. But I'm sure the people who called out did so more than a miute after I walked in at 7, so I would have really appreciated being notified as soon as they found out and before I spent time waiting around for an appointment they weren't going to honor. Had I known sooner, I could have figured out a plan B but instead had to show up with dirty hair in a ponytail to an event where I was speaking and being photographed. The times I've booked appointments and actually gotten my hair done at various Drybar locations have been great -- I've really enjoyed the stylists I've worked with and the final results -- which is why I wanted to use them ahead of this important event. But I can't see myself trusting that they'll be able to follow through moving forward.

I do not get my hair done more than once every 4 years, but I will certainly be back for a nail appointment before then, and will be recommending this salon to all of my friends. My appointment was at 8am and I was given a generously full cup of hot coffee while I waited for my stylist to settle in. I was given a little tour of the salon and impressed with how much space they have, how modern all the equipment is, and that they even have a kids room! I currently struggle to find time to get my nails done as a mom, and at Progressions I could bring my kid and get some self-love time too. They also have a vegan polish line which fits with my lifestyle. Molly was my stylist and we talked the whole appointment! She is so friendly and I loved getting to know her and sharing some of my life with her. She started by preparing my hair for a hair donation. I found Progressions Salon because they are one of the few businesses that accept hair donations. Molly was able to cut three braided donations off and then pamper me at the hair washing station. Progressions Salon has a chair that massages both your back and your butt during the hair wash and shampoo stage of the appointment. It was the best shampoo experience of my life. After the hair washing Molly gave me a very cute layered bob that complimented my curls. It is hard to find a stylist knowledgeable about cutting curly hair and she nailed it! After the cut she styled my hair and I was set to meet my friends for brunch. I felt so fashion forward and confident with my new cut, and invigorated after such a luxurious experience: Thank you Progressions Salon for my hair cut and I cannot wait for my next visit!

Instead she & her assistant over processed my hair by leaving me sitting and waiting for an hour. I called that evening to speak to Stephanie but no one answered so I left a voicemail. She didn't bother to return my call! Instead she texted me! How unprofessional! I called the next morning and the receptionist told me Stephanie was too busy that's why she didn't call me, which is ridiculous! Your receptionist never contacted me, I called the next morning myself after I saw your text. You have never called my phone nor has the receptionist. I had to call you all. I told the receptionist the assistant didn't follow the 20 mins off and 20 mins on for the haircap. She left me sitting there for about 20 mins before she turned the time on. Put the cap on and set the timer. Followed by taking the cap off and setting the timer again for 20 mins! She also failed to leave me with the toner for an additional 5 minutes like Stephanie told her. She over processed bleach and under processed toner. So my hair looks terrible on the top of my head! I can't even run my finger through my hair not to mention some of my hair strands are white and not blonde!!! Stephanie if your assistant doesn't understand how important processing time is maybe it's time to teach her! I will never return and I don't recommend your Salon! You are very unprofessional! Offering to give me a deep hair treatment will not fix over processed brassy hair! Next time have some sense and call your client back! By the way I paid $440 for my hair! FYI by the way years ago she bargained prices so that's how it use to work Stephanie. I see things have changed! But the quality of service has gone down. The picture you took of my hair was a small shot. You never even sent me the pics which I asked for. You wanted to me to leave. Let's not talk about the choppy haircut you gave me to hide the broken hair. Not taking accountability or even caring for your clients is a terrible way to run your business.

I recently moved to the DMV from NY for school and decided to go with her salon because I wanted to support a small business and the other reviews were great! Booking the appointment was seamless. Annum was able to accommodate an earlier appointment time for me since I had a scheduled meeting later that afternoon. I visited her almost a month ago on April 6th, 2021 so here is my comprehensive review. My balayage took a little under 1.5 hours to complete. She was very efficient while also ensuring that my hair retained its natural moisture and health. She made sure that she respected my time due to my meeting later that evening. When I returned home, I did notice that the toner didn't take on a small but noticeable section of my hair that was noticeably blonde. I immediately texted Annum to let her know and she squeezed me in the same day to reapply the toner for the area, which was a very quick fix. Not every hair stylist would show this level of dedication to ensure that I had the best experience. After a month, the color has held up beautifully and I've received endless compliments on her work. In terms of parking, there are public parking garages on the same street that are affordable and accessible (~$1.25/hr). Highly recommend booking her, she's very professional, honest, and genuinely takes care of her clients! Support your small businesses and book her!!

Long story short, I came to Annum after nearly 2 years of not letting anyone touch my hair because of a disaster that left me in tears with shoulder length hair when I was supposed to only get an inch off my super long hair (obvs, this wasn't her who did it). Now I literally only trust Annum to do my hair and recommend her to all my coworkers, friends, and family. Not only is she precise with all her cuts and color, she can also recommend what she thinks will be flattering for you which is especially nice for people who may not come in with inspo pictures. After she brought life back to my sad hair, I trusted her to finally go ahead and give me some color with a balayage. I haven't looked back since then and have only been going lighter with each visit! The best part is that even several months later, my balayage looks fresh and perfect despite my hair growing out. I personally give her creative freedom and trust her with whatever color she thinks is gonna look great on me but you can always bring/show her what you want and she'll recreate it to the best of her abilities! Remember folks, every artist is different and uses different techniques so an exact recreation isn't really possible. She's great at listening to what you want while also protecting your hair from any unnecessary damage and if you aren't happy with it (which I'm sure is rare) she'll fix it! Annum herself is a delight to come in and see. She's always so sweet and sociable - it's always fun to talk to her while she's working her magic on my locks! I appreciate that she has her own private suite in a salon with other artists which does make her hijabi friendly BUT bear in mind that there are men who will walk around as they probably work there too. I have hijabi friends who don't see this as a problem but to each their own. In terms of pricing, I think her rates are very fair especially considering what some other salons (super side-eye to yall) charge for balayages and color services that aren't even close to beauty that she creates. Again, bear in mind that while it isn't cheap - no hair stylist gives you a refund for services already done! Common sense right? Apparently not. Like I said before, if you aren't happy for whatever reason; let her know and she'll fix it. You'll be hard pressed to try and find ANY salon or stylist that'll refund you for any reason. Booking is easy but she does book super fast so make sure you make your appts well in advance! My thick desi hair won't let anyone else touch it so seriously, treat yoself and get your hair blessed by Annum and her magical hands!

As a lifelong brunette who has been coloring her hair for decades, I recently made the…read moreuncomfortable decision to go gray. With John K. at New Wave Salon in my corner, I felt confident that this was going to work. During our consultation in April he described the whole process and instructed me to let about 2" of the natural color grow in so he could match the tone. In August he spent a full day to implement the transition. Not only did he explain the process step-by-step, but he also made sure I understood the range of results I might see. I couldn't be happier. John was patient, thoughtful about what would work best, and made sure he did nothing to damage my hair. The results speak for themselves. Without reservation, I am recommending John for complex coloring work. I'd also like to share that I was mortified with the prospect of letting the gray show while I was growing it out. At first I tried to cover it up with coloring sprays and hats, but eventually nothing concealed the amount of gray that came in. I was pleasantly surprised by the encouragement I received from family, friends, acquaintances and strangers who freely and continually told me how much they liked my 2-tone look. This made each day leading up to my transformation with John so much easier. My advice for others who are contemplating going natural is, trust the process, and trust John. An encouraged reader asked me to provide info about the cost. I've never had my hair professionally colored so I don't know what the standard cost for coloring is, but this was likely well beyond that. One factor is that it took a full day of John's time with only short rest periods between applications, washing, and blow drying (which occurs between each step so the chemicals are absorbed by dry hair). Another factor is that it depends on variables including how your hair reacts to the chemicals, what chemicals can safely be used without damaging your hair, and how many processes are needed not only to strip the old color but potentially add low lights if quasi-darker tones remain. All this before the silver tint, potentially a glaze top coat, and a final blow out. It's likely that your colorist will provide a complimentary consultation before you start letting the gray grow out. You can ask questions about timing and expected cost range at that time.
