His office fit me in so quickly for a non life threatening situation. They actually could've fit me in the same day as my doctors referral which is amazing. Docs just don't do that unless you're dying. His staff was truly pleasant. Actually nice, not just fake nice. They smiled and had personalities. The wait time in the waiting room was extremely minimal as well as in the exam room. The Dr himself was very pleasant. Easy to talk to and able to answer every question I had for him. He was open and honest about the procedure he was recommending. I felt like he was knowledgeable of the condition I had and confident that surgery (with him) was the best course of treatment. After the exam was over, I met with his scheduling coordinator who was extremely efficient, pleasant and easy to work with. I'm glad I was referred to Dr Costin. While having surgery in the near future is scary, he's definitely put my mind at ease.

A year and two rounds of physical therapy later, she officially gave up on me. Yep, sent me on my way. Told me to try getting a massage. And then no less than a dozen doctors gave up on me. Through the years, I've seen chiropractors, a Chinese medicine DO, three gastroenterologists, a physical manipulation specialist, and a handful of Western medicine docs. I've been needled, herbed, cracked, and popped... I'm pretty sure I even went on a spiritual witch hunt for a while to exorcise a demon. I spent no less than $10,000 on scans, pills, and massages and countless hours in doctors' offices. And then I met Dr. Richard Costin. He had been referred by one of my caring doctors who just didn't know what to do with me anymore. He said Dr. Costin is the surgeon he'd choose for surgery on himself. Sounded good enough for me! If you've ever seen a surgeon, you probably know they're... well... not the nicest. You pray for one who's just a pompous, self-righteous ass and not one who's completely cold-hearted and unrelatable to people. Well, Dr. Costin was neither! Don't get me wrong... he wasn't shitting out rainbows and butterflies, but was truly great. He was kind, really listened to my concerns, and spent enough time with me at every visit. Dr. Costin told me he believed my problems stemmed from my gallbladder, even though all my tests came back saying otherwise. He said he had seen a few patients with symptoms like mine and that he thought removing my gallbladder would be the right thing. But he wouldn't go in blindly and remove it--he had many hoops for me to jump through before he would remove this pesky organ. A year after my first visit--and many tests and diet changes later--I went back to see Dr. Costin. He spent quite a bit of time discussing my case, and then he told me it was time to say goodbye to my gallbladder. His office helped schedule my surgery, and just a few days ago, I had my gallbladder removed. While it's too soon to claim complete victory, I can confidently say that things are looking good so far. I had such an amazing experience with Dr. Costin, and I am incredibly thankful to him for not giving up on me like everybody else did. He saved my life.

I know that she is not a wholistic doc but really, she should, at the very least, talked to me about my weight gain when I was obese I should add when I told her I had blood in my stool, she referred me to a hematologist and after like 1k worth of testing, I was told that all the tests were fine. She did not tell me that I most likely had an esophageal tear, which another doctor in Florida told me and she prescribed medication to treat this.

Initially, I was told they could not provide a referral because I had not been seen within the past year. After I left a review expressing my concerns, they changed their position and said they would send a referral--but only for an office visit, not for the colonoscopy that had been recommended. The inconsistency is what makes this so frustrating. Ohio Gastro Group stated they could not refer me for a colonoscopy because I had not been seen recently enough, yet they were more than willing to schedule that same colonoscopy at their own facility without requiring an office visit first. If I am medically appropriate for the procedure in Ohio, why am I suddenly not appropriate for a referral to have the exact same procedure performed near my new home? My grandfather died from colon cancer, so timely screening is important to me. By refusing to provide a proper referral, I am now facing a 3-6 month wait to establish care with a new gastroenterologist in Colorado before I can even schedule the procedure. Meanwhile, I could have had the colonoscopy completed within days if I traveled back to Ohio and paid their office. After I posted multiple negative reviews, the office appeared to try to make things right by saying they would send a referral for a colonoscopy. Unfortunately, that is not what happened. Instead of sending an actual referral, they simply forwarded the report from my previous colonoscopy. My new provider could not use those records as a referral, leaving me right back where I started. This only added more delays and frustration to an already unnecessarily difficult process. The entire experience gave the impression of a disorganized and uncoordinated office. Poor communication, inconsistent policies, and sending the wrong documentation instead of the requested referral created additional work for both me and my new healthcare providers. I expected much better continuity of care from a medical practice when relocating out of state, especially for a procedure they themselves recommended.

I am 50-now and it is time for me to get bootie probed every five year--especially since colon cancer runs in my family. **public service announcement** Cue the bright colored TV peacock and chimes--dune, dooo, dune-- if your older than 45 please get your butt probe every five years; colon cancer is easily treatable if you nail it early. Everyone here from the receptionist, to the pre-op nurses, to the anesthesiologist, to the surgeon, to the post op team, to the people who called to check up on me days later were super friendly, kind, had a professional gravitas that made any anxiety about the procedure evaporate. Before hand they reiterated the purpose of the scan, thoroughly reviewed every the RXs I was on, and described what was about to happened. Afterwards, they contact my driver ( you have to have one) to relay what they found and what action to take and not take. This was a great relief; it was my first colonoscopy so I didn't know what to expect. (Naively, I didn't realize I would be in a surgical grown. Good thing, for I realized to late I was in a Pink Floyd shirt and imaged the surgical team joking "Now we are about to explore the dark side of the moon!") I love this place. Highly recommended. My experience with Francie from Leaves Of Life was not a good one. I spent over $700 to get testing…read moredone when I first got there, I had numerous questions about my test that I emailed Francie, over the year that I was there I probably emailed her over a handful of times, not once did she respond to any of my questions in regards to bloodwork follow up appointments etc. I eventually had to call the office and ask... Does Francie get these emails? The office staff seemed too brushed me aside and say she'll get back to you when she can she's on vacation ( this was the second time I was told this in a matter of five months) she responded...never... She never once responded to an email in regards to questions and even over text message I had to remind her to please look at my bloodwork and give me feedback, I had to constantly hound her to respond. If I did this in my work I would be fired and I would have zero clients. Being a Health practitioner and handling peoples health and especially people with health anxiety and not at all responding to an email or even tests , in other words not doing your job, why is this tolerated at Leaves Of Life? Francie herself is a kind person but when I go there all she does is hook me up to the biofeedback machine and Leaves for a hour , when I ask her about different issues that I'm going through, with my health, she has not given me any protocols, nothing to really help with anything that came back from the $700 worth of test that I did, If I show her bloodwork from my primary care she doesn't even know what the tests mean admittedly and doesn't seem to want to take the time to respond to all my health concerns . I still have the same issues, I did not get any better from spending a year with Francie, I did not feel heard or seen given The fact that zero emails were responded to, when I told her some sad news in regards to my life and why I would not be coming back to Leaves Of Life to see her moving forward, once again I was met with a very loud and disrespectful silence. She could not even bother to thank me for being her patient and the experience we had that was not good even though I thanked her. Leaves Of Life why do you keep somebody like this around there's a very huge disrespect and lack of empathy for clients here. If Francie can't even communicate with her patients why is she even working here? Even the phlebotomist said "oh yes she's known to not respond to emails " why is this accepted in any place of work especially healthcare? Seems like people there care more about themselves than their actual clients, even the front desk did not apologize for all of the missed emails from Francie. I would not recommend Leaves Of Life and certainly not Francie to anybody if they care about their health and being respected by a Health practitioner they're paying very good money to See!
