It was a little bit of a drive but worth it. Those of you that just want the short version; overall I'm happy and I will go back. Dr Kaylor and his staff were very friendly, professional, and helpful. The experience went well and I am pleased with the level of detail provided in the pre op screening and post op report afterwards. Also, I arrived about 20 minutes early, got paperwork done, and the doctor was running early as well so that was a nice little side perk. I have not gone for my follow up yet but I am quite confident that the quality and professionalism will continue. I waited to the end to mention that the girl that checked me in the lobby was polite but I was not real impressed with her. I've been at Riverside Methodist for the last month after an emergency C-section and abdominal surgery. Dr. Prahbu completed an EGD on 3/27 with the goal of clamping the perforation in my esophagus. The defect was too large. The communication from the team was poor, my critical care surgeon being in the room while the procedure was performed and able to communicate to me what happened. Dr. Prahbu called my dad to explain after procedure so that was good. Dr. Melinda Rogers then performed an EGD yesterday (4/7) with the goal of inserting an endovac and NG tube to help the perforation heal. Again, failed attempt. I woke up from anesthesia at 5 pm with NO ONE there expect a Riverside nurse. No communication with me post-op, the surgeon just left at the end of the procedure. What a joke. My nurses advocated for me and I received a call from Dr. Rogers after 2 HOURS who said her team did not give her anyone to contact on my behalf. Despite Dr. Prahbu calling my dad as mentioned in my first paragraph. She could have called my nurse, my advanced care surgeon, my husband, or my parents who were waiting in my hospital room. The next plan of action suggested by Dr. Rogers was wait for a week before trying again. Originally, no one was going to speak with me until 04/08 AM post a 3 pm failed procedure. I spoke with my advanced care surgeon who gave me a referral to Ohio State's GI surgeons and agreed this was impermissible and apologized for the terrible care I received. This experience has been unacceptable in terms of communication, patient care, urgency, and compassion. I will be going elsewhere for my GI care as the doctors have been unsuccessful in each attempted intervention. I have had a positive experience with Dr. McCarthy at this practice in the past through office visits but I refuse to see Dr. Rogers at any junction. Absolute waste of time and money. Mad I will be getting billed for getting an area of inflammation cleaned out yesterday and nothing else. read more

I've been coming here for almost 5/6 years and 90% of my interactions are great- but almost every time I talk to the front desk receptionist about a concern she dismisses me and changes me to the wrong outlet. (I ask for nurses, she transfers me to scheduling). She then continued to dismiss me and my medication- one she's probably never taken in her life. Extremely disappointing for those of us who have conditions to deal with every day that these doctors have no personal experience with. My son had a colonoscopy scheduled and after a 2 hour drive to Columbus, we were greeted by the receptionist with a "your appointment is 2 hours from now, didn't you get a call?" No, there was no call, email or text. We stayed in the waiting room for 2 hours while the staff went to lunch. While the appointment time had been changed on the patient portal, we we're not notified otherwise. We did receive a reminder text while we were in the waiting room, however. Go to a provider who values their patients time, and can bill the correct insurance. read more

I mean they don't really do anything special to make you feel comfortable and I really was new to having a procedure in general and didn't feel like I was properly taken care of. Sure they explained some things they were looking for / how it worked but like it started even when they sent the prep prescription to get filled. Like put a rush on it???? It was going to be late and I had to call Meyer to fill it in time. From the very start to being woken up after my procedure prematurely I think they have a lot of areas to improve on. Facilities are below par as well and I hear they are placing doctors in satellite offices for follow ups because they no space. read more

I could not be more pleased with the level of courtesy, professionalism, and care that I received from the entire staff (receptionist, attending nurses, anesthesia nurse, and Dr. Rogers). Dr. Ward was the Rudest Doctor I have ever HAD! He literally dismissed everything I said. Well what i was trying to say when he wasn't dismissing everything I said. I have been in the care of Dr. Scott Young since Feb 2021. I initially went to see him to have my first colonoscopy. Fast-forward about a year and was diagnosed with moderate to severe ulcerative colitis. He has always been very kind, very knowledgeable, and exceptionally thorough. he was able to isolate a potential unrelated issue based on what he was seeing and got me to a specialist for a diagnosis. Without his thorough review of my health, I don't think I would've ever been diagnosed with the disease that he suspected. I also appreciate the exceptional care of his nurse practitioner, Kellie. she's very caring, very knowledgeable, and very supportive. Make sure you know how much they will charge you. No one tells you that you can only have ONE wellness screening every TEN years. But they do tell you to come back in TWO years, even though they found nothing. Make sure you ask all the questions because your doctors "orders" mean nothing. Their facility decides what you get billed for, I went in for a screening. What did I get billed for? Diagnostics. "Thats just how it is ma'am". This is why people don't do it! Health care like everything else is sucking money making machine. All these people being paid in the building and no one thought to mention it? I'm told you could have called for codes and then called your insurance and then... WHAT ARE YOU DOING MA'AM? What do they pay you for? I have been under Dr. Tripathi's care for the past three months and am grateful for him! I first saw him while in the hospital, then have seen him in office a few times, received a number of calls from him checking to see how I was doing and providing feedback on results. I cannot express how much I appreciate the time has spent with me in office at appointments, and our calls. It gives me a new respect when I have a long wait time at a Dr.'s appt because Dr. Tripathi never rushed our appointments, spent a 1/2 hour with me allowing me to ask ALL of my questions (I came with a list), reviewing weeks worth of bloodwork and test results. I have never had a Dr. spend that much time with me, let alone when I was an add on critical appointment. I am incredibly grateful for Ohio Gastro and specifically Dr. Tripathi. read more

This is one of those times that we need the option of leaving NEGATIVE stars. My primary care doc referred me to this practice after I'd been dealing with CDiff for several months. My only visit was with Dr Rogers. It lasted 15 mins, if that. I liked her tho. She made me feel like this was nothing...we'd get it taken care of. Unfortunately, everything that happened after that visit was extremely concerning. Getting in contact with anyone at this office is like pulling teeth. Voicemails were repeatedly ignored. Whenever I asked to speak directly to the Dr, I was called by Assistants and a Nurse, who all gave me conflicting answers and blatantly false medical information (was told by them that Dificid treats EColi, which is 100% incorrect). My EColi was reported to the Health Department but never discussed with me, even when I asked about it. I repeatedly told them how sick I was throughout this Dr/patient relationship. I won't go into detail here because....ew. But CDiff was literally wiping me out. Despite my actual crying while begging for help, there was no urgency on their end to do their part. Testing was ordered for me twice. I completed those tests immediately, and both times, my results were back for several days before I finally messaged to tell them someone needed to address my labwork. This last one (mid may) was available for well over a week before I messaged again, asking if anyone was going to call me about the results.(They weren't good). Their response was to have a staff member call me to schedule a procedure...like a full on, 'you're going under anesthesia' procedure. No discussion about my results. No discussion regarding any treatment options. No information at all. I asked if I could speak to the Dr about it. The girl actually said "Ummm. Why?" I had to explain that because no one in their office had talked to me about any of this, I wasn't comfortable scheduling a procedure. She openly huffed and puffed in my ear, making it clear how annoyed she was. Again, the Dr didn't call me. Someone else did. (The Nurse guy). His tone of voice was the kind you use when speaking to a child, and he couldn't even answer my specific questions. He said the Dr would answer them the day of the procedure. My biggest concern was the very real panic attacks that i have in any medical situation. I know from experience that it makes procedures more difficult for the provider when I'm hyperventilating and sobbing. I wanted to address this with the Dr to make it easier for everyone involved. He repeatedly told me they'd talk to me the day of...cool. so, when I'm in the midst of an irrational, panicked state? Seems smart (eye roll). I did my best to be proactive with my own medical care, only to be brushed off. I let them schedule me, even tho I was horribly uncomfortable still. After a couple of days, I messaged the Dr and told her to cancel it and refer me to OSU. I clearly explained that due to the complete lack of communication regarding my results and this procedure, I wasn't confident that this was the right treatment for me. I told her that I wanted a referral so I could start all over at OSU. She sent a referral...for the procedure that she wanted to do. I had already made it clear that I did not trust the care that was provided by this practice, and I would not be basing my future care on their recommendations. I had to message AGAIN for a corrected second referral, only confusing my start with a new provider and prolonging treatment for me. Even breaking up with this practice was made complicated. - Extremely poor communication - Very poor quality of service - Incorrect medication information given (and confirmed when I questioned it) - Conflicting answers/information given (not just once) - ZERO f*cks given about the actual patient. If you need a GI Doc, I would recommend that you go anywhere but here. read more

Had a procedure September 29 with Dr. Jon Walker. He was great; scheduling was great; recovery was great-- but the whole Billing Department is a NIGHTMARE. They overcharged me for services which we discovered on November 16. Now, it is January 30 and I still don't have my refund check of over $600. To top it off, I'm the one who had to keep following up with them to find out when I could count on receiving my refund check--even though it was their mistake. There is no Customer Service in that department. I wanted the refund to be issued back on the credit card I used to pay for the procedure but was told their system cannot give credit back on credit cards. So here I am stuck--waiting to see if they will actually come through with the refund check. read more

I have had four colonoscopies at Ohio Gastro over a period of twenty years. I always felt the doctors and staff were very professional and proficient. The last one I had at the Ohio Gastro Westerville facility was a disappointing exception and I will never go back there. The staff there seem to be infected with an unprofessional disregard for patient privacy and safety. They call patients from the waiting room by their full names. They routinely leave doors and privacy curtains open so other patients and their companions can see and hear patients in various states of undress and consciousness. On no less than six occasions in one hour and a half, I had to request respect for my privacy. I even had to leave the bed in only a loose medical gown and climb up on a chair to close the curtain. They also don't seem to realize this, but the blind on the window to the parking lot has large gaps on both sides so anyone in the parking lot can see inside. If you value your privacy, go somewhere else. I was never mistreated like that at their other facilities. read more

This institution is so disorganized that simple things like sending prescription to the pharmacy looks like a high order to them. Not to mention sending lab results to the patient. You as a patient literally have to chase them for days to get your results back. Consider yourself lucky if you get to talk to someone on the phone to ask a simple question. Voice mail is a story by itself. It says if you have an emergency press #2. When you press #2 takes you back to the same prompt. Feel sorry for people who have a real emergency. Looks like even If they would try to make things worse they would not be able to do it. It is that bad. Everything, except the doctor who performed procedure, is subpar. Once you are assigned a doctor you can only see him or her. I'm suffering from diverticulitus, cannot get in to see any one. My doc has openings 8 weeks away and I cannot see any other doctor. OGG has this as a monopoly. Try to find someone else, lots a luck with that. read more

In mid July I had a double scope done at these offices. I was told that I would be getting an EGD and a colonoscopy. I had previous EGDs done before at OSU and expressed that they typically do not work for dilating my throat. The Dr. insisted on trying a different type that should help. I just received my bill - she decided to do TWO different EGDs, and charge me for both! I was never told about the 3rd "procedure" and I'm now on the hook for another $977! The billing department could've cared less - and I've never heard from the Dr. or the offices since I had these done to check in or talk about ways to help my issues. This place is absurd! Never wanted to go in the first place, as I prefer OSU - but my PCP insisted. Never again. PS - The pre-colonoscopy kit they require is from the pharmacy and I had to pay $80! Most places require a $20 bottle of miralax. They also called it in 3 weeks before my procedure and never notified me. I went in 1 week before, as instructed, and it had been pitched. Had to return 3 days later to get it AND it didn't work! Didn't take to my body at all and ended up chugging down miralax which worked perfectly. Also, my insurance called their billing dept (with me on the phone) and requested a review of my bill - because I was somehow paying well over my deductible. Ohio Gastro billing then claimed no one ever called them and they weren't changing anything (god forbid someone on their team made a mistake and didn't do what they were supposed to do). read more

I have been provided superb support and diagnostic endoscopy on 3 occasions since June 2023. Each time, I have been impressed with the devotion to patient care provided by this fantastic group. Most recently I had the pleasure to work with Dr. Kiran Bidari, who had researched my medical file and was completely up to date before our first meeting. The EUS procedure went flawlessly and Dr. Bidari stopped by recovery to provide a full in-person report following. A few days later Dr. Bidari phoned me to go over biopsy results and insure I had a smooth transition to follow-up care and offering to supply the reports to the next provider. This group is knowledgeable, caring and there follow-up is phenomenal. Unfortunately for me, I will need scans in the future and plan to seek Ohio Gastro and Dr. Bidari for my care. read more

i only have an issue with their billing dept. i was very happy with the care I received from the doctor and nurses. However whatever you do don't overpay them! I received a bill for the balance due on Feb.21, 2024 and sent a check for the full amount on 2/21/24. I then received a late notice in March, so I called and was told they did not receive my check. I paid it using a credit card on 3/19/24. On April 26th, they cashed my check. Called on 4/29 and it was acknowledged by Jessica that they did get a double payment. She will tell Mary Kay who will check into this and someone will call me back. No call back. Called again on May 2nd and was told by Linda that a doctor has to approve the refund and that will happen next Tuesday May 7th. It is now May 24th and still no refund. I have sent 3 messages this week about it and no response there either. So there you go....$247.00! read more

I was having severe problems with my bowels of course they immediately set me up for colonoscopy. Colonoscopy came out normal and so I wanted to continue with him to discuss the problems I was having and they told me they couldn't get me in for almost 2 months. I consider myself an established patient because Id just had the colonoscopy. I went to a specialist at Mount Carmel and he said they definitely should've done a physical on me which they didn't do and they definitely should've asked me a lot of questions and they should've offered three different kinds of test to be done one rear end. He was so upset that he told me I needed to file a complaint. I'm now going to a Doctor who cares and is running the test that needed to be run and doesn't treat me like I'm cattle on a conveyor belt. All in all I have big problems that needed real test done. I was in the office last month and spoke with someone that had the paperwork in her hand, yet was still never turned in to my job. Overall OK. Waiting room very crowded. The problem was that I received three different bills for one procedure. Two came in 2021 just after the procedure. Another JUST arrived yesterday on 2/27/2023 for a procedure that was done on 10/12/2021! Almost 1.5 years later another bill for over $700 shows up. This bill has no itemization about the many hundreds that was already paid in 2021, just a new charge for (apparently) the actual procedure. I was told that the other bills already paid were for the facility and the doctor's assistant. I called my insurance and the bill I just received was processed by them on 10/21/2021! Ohio Gastro is just sending it to me now! Of course, I was told it was the fault of the insurance company for the delay and not theirs! read more

My dad had dr. Lena at olentangy river ohio Gastro. He had the worst experience. Dr. Lena didn't explain much she very hard to understand due to her heavy Indian accent. And we found out she always. Always refers you to do uneccessary surgery. Isn't that unethical and the medical board should be notified or report tom its a very serious problem to pressure people for uneccessary surgery by her friend dr. Robert toscano. I can't rate a zero for Ohio Gastro Olentangy River Road thus, this review. I experience extremely low blood pressure when fentanyl anesthesia is used during ANY medical procedure. This fact is based upon multiple previous surgical procedures and was listed in previous medical records sent to this facility in 2 months prior to my scheduled procedure. 1) I shared my blood pressure issue with the intake nurses, a nursing supervisor named Kathy, DR. KIRAN BIDARI, and the anesthesia Dr. all PRIOR to the actual procedure. 2) I had the procedure. DR. KIRAN BIDARI USED FENTANYL against better judgement after being told of the history. 3) My blood pressure at the lowest was 96 over 36 (normal range is 120/80) and in the recovery area the nurses were trying to rush me out of the facility stating if I had an "issue to go to the ER". I fought the nurses and SUPERVISOR NURSE KATHY from discharge for 2 hours. 4) These nurses are rude to recovering patients with unexpected problems, unable to handle patients advocating from being forced out of the facility in SERIOUS CONDITION. NOTE: DO NOT ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN TO YOU!! This facility resembles the meat market attitude... don't let the bed get cold before the next victim is laying there. Picture a conveyor belt, your butt in the air, and the next patient assuming the position next in line, and after them, after them, and after them, etc.... Please, read all reviews and DO NOT schedule ANY PROCEDURES with this company. read more

This is the most disorganized office that I've ever encountered. I have sent faxes that were never received, told to go to labs for tests that they have never heard of, given fax numbers that don't work, The list goes on and on. I am going to a different doctor now and I'm so glad that I'm not working with these people anymore. Everyone that works here is very nice but they just don't seem to have their act together. Also office staff has terrible communication. Scheduled a colonoscopy up in Dublin that they somehow turned into a routine visit - after I had taken time off from work. Worst office ever. They want to quickly get money but follow up is horrible. Apparently if you're healthy overall they don't care about next steps. Had a colonscopy in march, called to schedule a follow up, was told we will call you. Fast forward 2 months i call back. They cant see me for another 3 months. I call and leave voice mails for the office manager with no call back. My appt was canceled because apparently i had a convo with someone and i told her to cancel. Not how i remember that call going. I said i wanted to keep the appt even though i was going elsewhere. It shouldn't have been up to them to decide to cancel. I spoke to some team leader whose "i apologize for this" sounded so insincere. This practice deserves to be shut down. I wouldn't recommend my worse enemy here. read more

Just took my mom to see Dr. Edison and everything went so smoothly. It's always a challenge because my mom has MS--getting in and out of places can be a challenge. Dear Dr. Ransbottom, I'm mailing my Ohio Gastro payment directly to you with this letter as I want to let you know what a terrible experience I had with your Westerville staff and with, specifically, Dr. Castor. I've talked with Sierra from your Westerville office and Diane Brown, your billing manager, to no avail of crediting my account. They are aware of my experience yet I'm concerned this experience will never be communicated to the leadership of Ohio Gastro. Thus, the letter and my payment directly to you. March 7, 2022 * 2:40 PM - I arrived early for my 3:20 PM appointment with Dr. Castor. I stayed in my car until about 3 PM so that I could respond to Ohio Gastro's text messaging about updating my health status and medications. * 3:00 PM - I went inside and was greeted by a person behind the desk. She started asking me the same questions to which I'd just responded in the text. She said, "The texts don't work for us" and that she had to ask the questions again. I kindly obliged and took a seat. * 3:40 PM - Another office staff person came into the reception area before calling my name and celebrated with the person behind the desk that she had made it through her day and that I was the last patient of the day. She walked me back to the waiting room and updated my medications as I thought I'd done in the text message. * 4:10 PM - Dr. Castor entered the waiting room. He never looked at me. I stood up out of the chair to introduce myself and to shake his hand. He didn't greet me. He immediately sat down on his stool, looked at his iPad and asked, "Why are you here?" I responded that I have diverticulosis and he interrupted and responded, "Well, everyone has diverticulosis." I further explained that I'd had three bouts of diverticulitis in the past twelve months and my primary care referred me to him to consult and review recent CAT scan results. He asked why I didn't have the CAT scan sooner. I explained that I am "self-pay" and my primary care was trying to treat without me having to spend the money on a CAT scan. Dr. Castor interrupted me many times during my visit; he corrected me; he spoke down to me; and...he never examined me. I never got out of the chair the entire visit. * 4:20 PM - Dr. Castor said he would need to consult with a radiologist about the cyst on my diaphragm and would get back with me. When I asked who I should contact if I have another bout of diverticulitis, he responded that he didn't care and said that I would get a faster response from my primary care. When I left the office, the entire staff was gone. All lights were out. I had to follow the lighted exit signs to find my way down the hallway to the reception area. So, I had been alone with Dr. Castor and the office staff had left for the day. Dr. Castor went a different direction after leaving me. * Following Week: Dr. Castor called me after consulting a radiologist and said I didn't have cancer. What? Cancer? Cancer was never was discussed during my visit. He suggested that I return in six months for another CAT scan. The following week, I spoke to Sierra and gave her specific feedback. When I received the bill on April 25, 2022, I called and spoke to Diane Brown. Today, May 27th, Diane called me back and said that I was still responsible for paying the balance of $135 because Dr. Castor examined me and called me back. I told her that he did not examine me. I sat in the chair by the door the entire time. Dr. Castor is an uncaring and arrogant professional who needs a dose of human relations skills. I'm sure your staff people have been reprimanded because it's easier to do than to approach a possible owner/partner and arrogant physician and tell him to "grow up and act like an adult and a caring professional." I will never return to Ohio Gastro and I will "chirp" forever about my bad experience with Ohio Gastro, the Westerville office staff and Dr. Castor. Take heed to people having choices in their medical care and taking the time to give frank and honest feedback. You, Ohio Gastro, now have my money and can sleep at night knowing that your write-offs are less. So, you are receiving my payment begrudgingly. $135 is a lot of money for getting nothing of value from a medical professional and staff members who really don't care about their patients. read more
