I had some challenges with two batches however...Leslie went out of her way to make things right and I believe she was sincere!

I bought a Living Social deal to take my husband on a helicopter flight for his birthday this year…read more Before I say anything else, I have to say that he absolutely loved it, so it was well worth it regardless of anything else. The location is not the easiest to find, it's a little hidden on the airport grounds and there's not a huge sign or anything. The building it's in is kind of just a warehouse, not like it needs to be great since they're mainly teaching people how to fly and taking up photographers. We had a briefing in small conference room, and then got to try out the simulator before going out. I can tell you that I probably will not be taking up a career as a helicopter pilot any time soon. Going up in the helicopter was excellent though. Our pilots were very friendly and the view of downtown was fantastic. So much fun to fly around a skyline I'm so familiar with. Normally it's rather expensive to do, so I probably wouldn't do it again unless I got another deal (my deal was $150 for a 15 min ride, plus the extras before the flight).

The Rocky Mountain Regional Airport is very busy and my son was having a hard time feeling confident to speak to the air traffic controllers. I asked if a flight instructor could arrange for my son to go with him into the airport's control tower to see how hectic their job was in comparison to my son talking into the headset. They said they had no arrangement for that. Unfortunately, my son took a break from his training. I pulled my $1900 out of his account when they told me it would not secure his place he went from 6th on their list to a 150th.

Let's break it down Into sections: Airplane: almost brand new and always clean. Great avionics and easy to learn. Nick, our fantastic mechanic, was always there to fix or check any concerns you could have. Pilot accommodations: Once you get to the housing provided, you'll be in awe. I couldn't believe how well kept, well furnished and cleaned the place was. It's located in a beautiful, safe and quiet neighborhood. Old town is a few minutes walk away where they have coffee shops, good restaurants and a farmer's market every Thursday night. The accommodations are only three miles away from KEIK. Staff: Connor and Jake make the greatest team. They're only a phone call away and respond quickly to resolve your problem. In my case, I didn't have a car while there, but once a week they would take me to the grocery store and save me a trip on my bike! The coolest people. Nick was the icing on the cake by being so helpful! I loved that I felt like they truly cared about me and welcomed me into their aviation community. I took on a big risk deciding to leave New York and going to Colorado. And I'm so grateful I did.

The turbo prop can make it in 45min. Free snacks and sodas. Spacious cabins with plenty of room to stretch out. Friendly staff. ***On time flights!*** Highly recommend using Denver Air Connection regional carrier.

Because no staff was available to process us, we were forced to rebook a later flight. Stranded at Pre-Security: Due to the unstaffed desk, I was left trapped in the pre-security departures area for 2 hours with a toddler and two heavy bags. Following security, we were forced to wait another 2 hours before boarding. Poor Equipment Condition & Staff Conduct: The aircraft interior was noticeably worn, featuring torn seatback pockets and scratched walls. Upon deplaning at our destination, we waited until every other passenger had exited so my 3-year-old could politely ask to take a brief look at the cockpit--a standard, harmless request for young children. The flight attendant rudely dismissed the request without any explanation. Unattended Baggage & Lost Luggage: On our return flight, Denver Air left one of our bags sitting completely unattended in the middle of the baggage claim area, while our second piece of luggage was lost entirely. Zero Customer Support: By the time we discovered the bag was missing, all Denver Air airport staff had already abandoned the station. Phone support was entirely ineffective, offering no assistance other than telling us to send an email. Despite phone representatives assuring us we would receive a response that night or the following morning, more than 24 hours have passed with zero reply to our email, and call center staff state they have no further updates. When you pay an airline for transportation, you expect basic operational competence: staffed counters, safe handling of luggage, and responsive customer care when things go wrong. Denver Air Connection failed on all three. I strongly advise travelers to consider alternative regional transportation options until this carrier implements basic standards for customer service and baggage handling.

I could not have chosen a better flight school in this area to get my Private Pilots License. McAir…read moreprovides a very comprehensive part 141 training course that thoroughly prepares you for the written, oral and practical tests. McAir instructors that I flew with were very knowledgeable and had an obvious passion for flying. The instructors were also available from sun up to late at night. I once had a night lesson that went to midnight. They have a modern, well-maintained fleet of aircraft and an easy scheduling system. One aspect of McAirs flight training that really put me at ease and allowed me to focus on my skills as a pilot is there eye towards safety. Safety is emphasized above all else and the instructors are always making sure that when we go fly it is safe to do so. One word of advise though: don't come in thinking that you MUST get your license in under 50 hours like what most of the advertisement materials say. Certainly strive to do that but understand that it's pretty tough to do. I had an unrealistic idea of how many hours I would finish with so when I hit that 50 hour mark it put a lot of unnecessary pressure and doubt in mind. I had Cory Peterson as my primary flight instructor. He is a very professional, personable instructor. I never felt like I had to hide my worries or frustrations over the course of my training. He would always respond with a level head and words of encouragement. He showed complete confidence in my piloting abilities. I know I was able to get through the course in the time that I did (just under 3 months) because he allowed me to make decisions and encouraged me to truly act as pilot in command instead of doing too many things for me. I was lucky enough to also get to fly with Dylan Bergman and Nick Plomer who were both fantastic as well! The chief pilot, Patrick Blanckemeier, is a very approachable and dedicated guy. Pay attention and listen up when you get a chance to fly with him. Thanks for everything McAir! I'll see you soon.

Part 141 vs Part 61. The age old debate. here's where they get you: If you attend an approved…read morecollege and get a degree in professional aviation, you can gat your ATP at 1000 hours instead of 1500. However, I highly doubt if I'd stayed with McAir, I would have gotten all the required ratings in 1000 hours. I was at this flight school for the first 40 hours of my training. It was an absolute money and time suck. Show up 30 minutes before each flight to fill out a weight and balance sheet every...single...time. The rates were 270/hr with an instructor when I started, and 320/hr when I left. on top of that, they have a late cancellation policy in which, if you cancel within 24 hours of a flight, they charge you for an hour in the plane, regardless of what the situation is. Let me give you an example. I had a flight scheduled for an afternoon after work one day. I had to be at work by 4:30 AM, so I went to bed pretty early. When I woke up, I saw that someone had changed my flight to start at 7 AM. No notice, no confirmation, nothing. I called to cancel and try to get it rescheduled. No planes available. Later that day, I was charged $320 for a late cancelation. I got my money back, after I borderline yelled at them. Another thing I'll touch on, is the airspace. KBJC is the most disorganized Delta I've flown in. Their system has many kinks, and it's not uncommon for you to arrive at 5AM for a flight, and then wait to take off for 45 minutes. Oh by the way, that whole time you sit on the taxiway with the engine running, you're being charged 320/hr. If you're pursuing your pilots license, go to a part 61 flight school, where the instructors actually car, and the price is a fraction of 141. I pay 240/hr now, for a nicer plane, with an outstanding instructor. I paid nearly $15,000 for 40 hours of flight time at McAir before I switched. All that money, and I still hadn't even soloed. If you're looking for a good flight school, Flights Inc at KAPA has been an outstanding flight school.
