The new building dates to the 1870s and was originally a saloon and dance hall. It is also twice the size of the Indian Hills Trading Post. This gallery has a solid library of contemporary artists, not just from Colorado, but from across the U.S. and internationally. About 40 artists are regularly exhibited, showing mainly paintings and sculpture. All of the work is of very high quality. The historic building provides an excellent background with an expansive main floor and an intimate basement with original stone walls. This is also a fine event venue. Steve Sonnen, the owner, is an art consultant with extensive experience in the design of art-centric spaces using work from the gallery or custom commissions. Mirada Fine Art is one of the highlights of the Denver art scene.

Long's unusual ceramic pieces, featuring fractures, chains, bent rods, and collapsing forms, highlight the pressures of modern life, but show that we are still standing. Wilson has spent the past five years passionately documenting the BLM's war on Colorado's wild horses. His extraordinary photographs bring the chaos and pain of this situation up close. This show is shocking, upsetting, and deeply moving. It should be a must see for everyone.

For that moment in my personal history, I always take the opportunity to swing through whenever I find myself down that direction for any reason. The gallery that was has long since changed hands a couple of times, yet always attracts some good shows. Over the last several months, I have found myself back at this place twice now as a destination. I haven't done that once for this gallery space in over a decade. Artist-owned and operated as a co-op in this iteration, it seems someone was taking notes. The main showroom is still in the front, with the full windows facing the intersection. There are still private, working studio spaces in the back, but the layout has been shuffled a bit. From the outside, the changes are subtle. They have fixed, open hours from Thursday through Sunday, which is a standout in comparison to other galleries in the area. What was the backdoor entrance and an empty corridor is now utilized as functional space for a satellite gallery. The main gallery and this secondary gallery have representation from co-op members. The range of work offers a wide variety of media and artistic voices. There's a smaller "featured" type gallery off the main gallery, which rotates solo shows. All in all, they've really gotten all they can out of the space, tastefully. So, if you're looking for a place that's not the cramped and crazy of First Friday, get on their mailing list or check their calendar when you're planning a night out. After all, this is the place D'ART.

My partner and I stumbled upon this area while going for an evening stroll. The bridge structures were even more beautiful with the lights, and it's clearly a great place to bring kids to play. See: playground and non-vehicle roads. There's a public library, tons of murals, and loads of restaurants & bars within walking distance. Parking didn't seem too bad due to low traffic, but I can imagine it gets crazy during the day on weekends. The grassy fields are perfect for playing fetch with dogs or having a picnic. The beach chairs are ideal for lounging. When we were there, several groups of people were biking, roller blading, and skateboarding. Just don't get run over!

Luckily I was able to tap into the River North Arts District while visiting Denver. This unique and vibrant neighborhood is full of urban life and totally walkable as I always love to walk a city. I was mesmerized by how many murals there were, small businesses, and eateries. It was fun checking out all the art and creator galleries, along with the craft beer and food scene. People were friendly and approachable. I enjoyed interacting with them and hearing about their process. If you love funky and unique, I highly recommend stopping here for a while and exploring.
