Insult to injury: Despite my warning Colony Square Eye Care that my $400 treasured Kala eyeglass frames were tricky when it comes to replacing the lenses, they broke the frames while swapping in the new lenses. And then acted nonchalant about it. Their unacceptable solution was to offer me a 30% discount on new frames from their existing inventory. Upselling was their response. A call from the manager would have been nicer. Following that experience, I went to Le Stanne Opticiens near Buckhead, who - get this - directly contacted the designer to find out if there was any way they could hook me up with an old pair of my favorite frames. Unfortunately, they couldn't. 7 years ago when Eye Q Optometry in San Francisco broke the same model of frames when changing out the lenses, they replaced the frames, free of charge. I've worn eyeglasses since I was 3 and Le Stanne and Eye Q Optometry demonstrate the high caliber of customer service I've come to expect. Colony Square Eye Care has a lot to learn. read more

I returned to CSE/Dr. Levine upon returning to ATL after having moved away. I was previously a patient. Results: CONTACTS: fit well with good vision. GLASSES: =VERY expensive frames and lenses. When initially picking up glasses I complained that I couldn't see well. While I got "the latest" progressive lens, the area of the lens through which I can see well in one eye DOES NOT align with the area of the lens through which I can see well in the opposite eye. I mentioned this all ON THE DAY I PICKED UP my $1,000+ glasses (and that's AFTER insurance). I was told to leave and "get used to the new glasses" and come back after I got "used to them." I travel a lot for work, so getting back to them was a challenge. When I went back I was told that "time to return" had expired. BOTTOM LINE: 1. I do NOT wear the $1,000+ glasses received from CSE. I am unable to do so without seeing unclearly AND getting dizzy. A horrible experience. 2. I now wear two different pairs of glasses...one is "one prescription ago" and the other is "two prescriptions ago." Seriously...THIS AFTER HSVING SPENT $1K+ 3. Dr. Levine seems competent enough... 4. Maybe the problem is with the staff who seem to try and align your pupils to the lens. You know...the ones who (BY HAND) use a magic marker to put a "dot" on the lens" 5. The staff (including Dr. Levine) impress me as COMPLETELY UNCONCERNED that I spent this kind of money and can't see straight using their glasses. I use the phrase "impress me" to express opinion rather than state fact in order to avoid them suing me for this review). This review was from an appointment back in June. I called Colony Square on a whim because I needed a fast eye exam. They were able to get me in same day! I answered a few precautionary COVID-related questions and went for my appointment two hours later. Dr. LeVine was super thorough and has a great bedside manner. All the ladies in the office were pleasant as well. There are markers on the floor to remind of social distancing and everyone was wearing masks and always sanitizing. There was a bit of construction noise that the doctor was not pleased about, but it didn't bother me at all. I think it should be done or close to by now. I recently moved to Atlanta and needed an eye exam to get new contacts. I had been wearing daily contacts for a while but didn't like them and I wanted to switch back to the two week contacts that I had been wearing before. Dr Levine pressured me to buy a much more expensive brand of dailies. Before I had time to think about it, I was ushered to the front desk where the women there were already ringing up the sale (I wish I had told them I wanted to try them for a day or two first). I felt like I was dealing with a pushy salesperson rather than a doctor. I was also charged a $50 "contact fitting fee" (not covered by insurance) on top of the exam fee. I also had to make two different appointments for the eye exam, one for an exam and one for dilation. I've never been to a doctor that required a separate appointment for dilation, usually it is included as part of the exam. (I hope there's not a separate charge for it too) I just switched jobs and t's been difficult for me to get time off work for the second appointments (they're not open on weekends). It's been more than three weeks since I ordered the contacts, but they won't let me pick them up until I come in for the second appointment. read more

I had my annual eye exam today. The most thorough eye exam I've ever had. First started with 3 different tests - the blow air in your eyes one (I think this measures pressure), peripheral vision (never done that one before) and a third I can't recall. I also opted for the addtl photos of eye which was cool as the Dr. then showed me the blood vessels, condition of back of eye, etc. He took the time to really explain everything to me. The vision testing was fairly standard although Dr. LeVine was very patient. You know sometimes you really can't tell the difference between #1 and #2 or #9 and #10. Dr. LeVine was great. Calm, patient and recommended a new, daily (1 wear only) contact lense for me. He gave me a couple weeks worth to try before committing. read more

I would highly recommend Colony Square Eye Care! I had a perfect experience with this business for my eye exam (contacts) and purchase of new glasses. The location is SUPER convenient if you work or live downtown. They even validate parking which is a plus! I consented to having the Retinal Photography done which was very cool and tells you a lot about your eye health. It takes a pic of the back of your eye and you even get to keep the pic. There's a good selection of frames if you're buying glasses. The office staff is very nice, upbeat, and helpful. After switching optometrists last year due to proximity, I went back to Dr. LeVine. He recommended contacts better suited to my eyes and long wear times than my previous doc. The exam was thorough and he encourages a contact lens trial period, rather than attempt to just move boxes of product as fast as possible. I've had retinal surgery and went to a specialist for an annual checkup. They gave me a prescription that turned out to have been mis-transcribed, so I went here because it was close but I didn't have high expectations because it is in a retail setting/food court. I had problems with a new prescription and glasses from a different eye care business and decided to go fo Colony Square for a second opinion. The original business was stating that nothing was wrong with my prescription and it had been 6 months. At Colony Square Dr LeVine tweaked my prescription and Brittany explained that my lenses had a 1 year warranty and recommended that I go back to the other business and press the point. I followed her advice and lucked out that a regional training manager just happened to be on site at the other business when I went back and they are redoing my lenses at no charge as they should have. I can't complain about the quality of they medical care I get here. I've always felt satisfied. But the office vibe really bugs me. It feels more like the DMV than a doctor's office. The ladies behind the desk just seem so apathetic and disinterested in being there. The air-puff machine is never fun but the nurses have no bed-side manner, just "wam, bam, thank you mam." I also realize that the office can't survive without selling contacts, glasses, and additional services (like the eye photography) but it feels like they are trying to push that stuff a little too hard. I've had a great experience over the 3 years I've been a patient here. Dr. LeVine is very courteous and thorough, and never seems to push selling you things if it's not the best option for you. I'm a grad student, and he is always conscientious of cost for me, and has several times given me more than usual amounts of contact solution and little gimmes, which helps me save a few bucks. The staff is really stellar also...I went about 3 weeks ago for an eye exam to order contacts in time for my wedding and honeymoon. Unfortunately the contacts were on back order and I called them concerned that I wouldn't have any contacts for my own wedding! Carolyn at the front desk promptly ordered 2 pairs of trail contacts in my exact prescription (usually the trials available aren't in my exact prescription), and overnight shipped them to the business! I really appreciated the effort they made for me, especially considering it was a cost to the business since they can't sell me trial pairs. read more
