We made a…read morereservation as we heard it is hard to walk-in to dinner spots in Bergen (though this may not be true for solo travelers not with a large group). It is located in earshot of the Floibanen Funicular. We ordered a la carte (not tasting menu). The starters were all lovely, but the pasta was extremely salty. Maybe the chef had a too heavy hand. The langoustine (local specialty) was super yummy. The hummus was a crowd favorite. I got the chicken entree which was delicious. It's hard to cook chicken right. This one was slightly chewy/undercooked in my opinion, but didn't detract from the dish overall. We were too full for dessert! The restaurant itself is beautiful and the service was top-notch.

The service, presentation, quality and inventiveness of the ingredients choices, was second to none. One of the hardest things to do with a long meal of this calibre is the pacing of dishes and accompanying beverage pairing. Our experience was perfection. Their English was perfect as well. 100% recommend, if your in town for dinner.

The ingredients were quality as well as the service. Our server Naomi (sp?) was attentive, friendly, knowledgable on the menu, and made fantastic suggestions all with a gorgeous personality and smile. Our bartender and wine server, Sofie, made great suggestions and even better martinis and old fashions. She and our server made the already fabulous meal an incredible experience. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. The noise level is just right. The views enchanting. Everything about our evening was enjoyable. Hoping to return to Bergen, we will definitely be back to dine here.

Also, when the water jugs ran out of water, the server would quickly replenish the jugs without asking while leaving our water jugs empty when we had finished our water!! Now, onto the food ... we both ordered open-faced sandwiches (Skagen and Fjords). Both sandwiches have bread that takes a strong muscle to cut through and the seafood was swimming in mayo!!! Overall, the experience was not that great plus it is not easy to climb up several steep steps of stairway to get to a restaurant! We can tell that this is a popular restaurant around the locals as it was filling up after 20 minutes, but will we come back here again? Not really!!

The expectations ran high as the place was advertised as the opening of "THE café" in Bergen. The space is fantastic. The interior is very spacious and modern yet delicate & cosy. Staff and service friendly and professional. There are some things that disappoint big time: like plain awful teas... Twinnings? Seriously?! Folk og Røvere has a better selection... Smoothies were absolutely appalling - who on earth puts more sugar (syrup) in blended fruit? Grilled bread of my sandwich had terrible burn, rancid oil/butter taste to it... It's 2018 and the trends in food are natural, organic and simple. I would still recommend the place because of the urban atmosphere so scarce in Bergen.

When it comes to the main dish: the lamb you still feel like you're on a starter. There are very thin two slices of lamb with two quarters of a radish of some sort. On the side you got two(!) leaves of lettuce drowning in sth that looked like a diluted mayo (this you were to share between 3 people!). How about a potato or other veggies? Equally hilarious was the desert that consisted of a strawberry strategically cut in many pieces, a hard piece of raw rhubarb and a tiny dry piece of sponge cake. Two stars for the starters and the service. Would not recommend.

I will say it was very slow to receive drinks and food. So if you're in a real hurry it might not be a great place for you. Decor is funky and amazing. We were seated next to a window filled with bones. The lighting was cool. It felt like you were in a bar in Mexico. The menu is a mix of various Latin dishes and drinks. I went with a Brazilian drink that was so good that I ordered another. Not sure the alcohol was high but the taste with the juice was so refreshing. My dining partner tried a couple of beers and enjoyed them. For food, I went with the Argentinian steak as they were out of the pork dish I wanted to try. It was so good. Seasoned great, huge with a ton of potatoes and creamy corn to go with it. The other dish was a veggie cheese pie. Hmm, just so so. The veggies were a bit bland and it didn't have much spice level until we pored on the available sauces at the table. Prices were great too - you get a lot of food and there is a lot of choice on the menu. It took awhile for them to give us the check, we finally went up to the bar to pay. As I said, it's a nice relaxing meal and not a fast food place so be prepared to have a bit of a wait and just enjoy your surroundings.
