Mexican food in downtown Bergen? Sure, sounds fun! We were sold on the restaurant after chatting…read morewith the bartender outside about the menu. I will say it was very slow to receive drinks and food. So if you're in a real hurry it might not be a great place for you. Decor is funky and amazing. We were seated next to a window filled with bones. The lighting was cool. It felt like you were in a bar in Mexico. The menu is a mix of various Latin dishes and drinks. I went with a Brazilian drink that was so good that I ordered another. Not sure the alcohol was high but the taste with the juice was so refreshing. My dining partner tried a couple of beers and enjoyed them. For food, I went with the Argentinian steak as they were out of the pork dish I wanted to try. It was so good. Seasoned great, huge with a ton of potatoes and creamy corn to go with it. The other dish was a veggie cheese pie. Hmm, just so so. The veggies were a bit bland and it didn't have much spice level until we pored on the available sauces at the table. Prices were great too - you get a lot of food and there is a lot of choice on the menu. It took awhile for them to give us the check, we finally went up to the bar to pay. As I said, it's a nice relaxing meal and not a fast food place so be prepared to have a bit of a wait and just enjoy your surroundings.
Fantastic spare ribs! It falls right off the bone and not greasy at all. Chilli is also very good.read more

My husband and I were super pleased with our meal. We decided to share the triple chicken skewers and ordered and extra pita and hummus. Wow! The portions were huge. We could've gotten away with sharing a double skewer without the extra pita. The meal started with a nice warm complimentary lentil soup. The pita was enormous and super light and fluffy. The chicken was super tender and juicy. I love that the skewers came out on the plate without the skewer so it made it easier to eat. Overall delicious and a great value for all the food!

The restaurant is styled like an American saloon with cowboy hats and western decor around the dining area and American country music playing in the background. They also have outdoor seating. We tried their tapas plate. I have to admit that my expectations were low, but I was pleasantly surprised. The aioli was quite tasty and sweet and sour and ranch sauces were fine. The onion rings, chicken wings, and fried shrimp were on par with the best I have had, and the other fried foods were decent as well. The grapes were particularly good, and the red ones had a flavor that I had never encountered before. Overall, I had a great experience at Vossevangen Grill & Steakhouse and would recommend their tapas plate.

Service was fairly good. They have a very strange check system where you go up to the cash register and tell them what you ordered (extra strange because it was our server at the cash register!!).

It is located in earshot of the Floibanen Funicular. We ordered a la carte (not tasting menu). The starters were all lovely, but the pasta was extremely salty. Maybe the chef had a too heavy hand. The langoustine (local specialty) was super yummy. The hummus was a crowd favorite. I got the chicken entree which was delicious. It's hard to cook chicken right. This one was slightly chewy/undercooked in my opinion, but didn't detract from the dish overall. We were too full for dessert! The restaurant itself is beautiful and the service was top-notch.
