My cat was showing signs of improvement within 12 hours of being seen at VCA and by a week later, was still improving in leaps and bounds (literally). Outstanding Care and Compassion…read more I can't say enough wonderful things about CARE Emergency Vet in Williamsburg. They were absolutely phenomenal from start to finish and took such incredible care of my sweet Lulu during a very scary time. The staff was kind, patient, and compassionate and not just with Lulu, but with me as well. They explained everything clearly, treated Lulu as if she were their own, and made sure she was comfortable and cared for every step of the way. Dr. Moin was truly a godsend and very thorough. I truly felt like she was in the best possible hands. Emergency visits are always stressful, but their professionalism and warmth made all the difference. I'm so thankful for their quick action, expertise, and genuine love for animals. Williamsburg is lucky to have a place like CARE. Highly recommend to anyone needing emergency veterinary care -- they are simply the best. Especially Dr. Moin!!

My sister's cat Tiggers had an aural hematoma and she asked for my help since she couldn't afford…read moreto pay to take him to the Vet. When asked where she normally went for vet care, she said Salty Paws near where she lives in Hampton. Since I live in VA Beach, I asked my son to drive the 45mins north to take Tiggers to the vet. Visit #1 on 6 Nov: $500, said needed some shots and flea treatment and to come back 10 Nov. Attempted Visit #2: Major wreck and fire on the 64. Took my son over an hour to drive from VA Beach For Tiggers scheduled appointment and turned away for being FOUR minutes late. FOUR! after an hour drive across town. Told to come back the next day. By the way, I am a Navy healthcare provider and it is preposterous to turn someone away prior to 15minutes past the scheduled appointment time as we take into consideration traffic and travel throughout the Hampton Roads area. Visit #3 11 Nov: another $500 for them to put a straw through his ear, give some more meds and scheduled follow up 2 weeks later. 1 week later and the poor cat is still miserable without any obvious decrease of swelling to his ear. Blood is matted into his fur down the side of his face. So we decide to take him to a local vet in VA Beach. We simply can't wait another week because we're really concerned for the misery of this cat. Being turned away for being 4mins late the last time really ticked me off and I was no longer feeling like I wanted to continue care with Salty Paws at this point. Local Vet takes one look at Tiggers and exclaims: What the HECK is that???!!! Do you mind if we take a picture so we can train our vets on what NOT to do??? The straw that was supposed 'drain' his ear, literally went straight through-- so how the heck was this providing any drainage?? The blood and pus seeped out from around the straw, not through it. And of course another $500 for that visit. Vet pulled out the tube, gave some more meds plus an antibiotic (since Salty Paws didn't give him one despite being at major risk for infection) fully drained the ear, kindly shaved the area where the fur had gotten filled with blood, and then had to stitch up the mangled mess that was done at Salty Paws. The Vet was also incredibly concerned that Salty Paws didn't have any detailed medical documentation about the treatment they provided Tiggers. For human healthcare this would be considered MALPRACTICE. This place felt like they were more concerned with a cash grab than actually improving the health of my cat in swift, compassionate way. Tiggers (now my family cat adopted from my sister) got his stitches out today and is feeling much better.

Pet Owners Read First!…read more (rewrite after owners response) I unfortunately must write about my personal experience with Dr. K. I am not sure of the other doctor's but, Dr. K was terrible for me and my dog and here is why. Here is a little background. I always wanted a giant dog and my friend gifted me a puppy Newfoundland in 2021. He was cherished and loved and has been very healthy his whole life! (Dr. Fink agreed he was in great health in June 2024) However, he swam in the James and I forgot to remove his collar and he ended up getting yeast from it. I waited to take him in when I noticed it since it was recommended that I try two home remedies for a month, during that time he didn't improve so I decided to take time to HAH. Where I had previously taken our other dogs for shots, etc. After spending 600.00 on the first visit with Dr. K, I took him back to HAH and during that visit Dr. K was very rude to me and suggested since I didn't bring him back sooner she as going to charged me another $600.00 but assured me this will resolve things. (I didn't realize the follow up she suggested was necessary unless he got worse and he was getting better so I didn't rush back in) however when I went to follow up from the 2nd visit she came up with a new treatment plan for upwards of $1200.00 which including a special 150.00 a month food diet for three months and suggested to put my dog on life long medicine all this without having tested my dog! Then to make things worse she added if it didn't work I would need to go a specialist! At that moment, I knew it was time to find another VET! (Dr. Fink acknowledges that no testing was completed) (Dr. Fink my suggested I neglected after spending 1200.00) I wish that was the end of this story...but it's not. After visit 3 after when I questioned Dr. K ability to care for my dog and declined her additional 1200.00 treatment plan she wrote very negative things about me & my dog in my dogs medical chart. Which I only recently learned about. However to make things even worse, during Visit #3 I did mentioned to Dr. K that I was rehoming my dog for various reasons and she decided to share her negative opinions to the rehoming families after I gave them permission to contact her. Obviously, I didn't think for one minute she would say anything negative and which I would have never found out about it if the friends who wanted to rehome my dog wouldn't have informed me. As I mentioned, the fact is I found two wonderful homes for my dog and allowed them to contact the VET for info along with providing copies of the invoices from his recent visits. However, I learned Dr. K made such negative comments about my dog that both didn't feel comfortable adopting him after talking to Dr. K I knew I was going to write this review. Again, I gave them (Dr. K) permission to talk when she knew my dog didn't have previous or chronic health condition. In my opinion, she should have said, "Yes I treated him and his skin issue is getting better and he has been a great dog who I first met in 2024!" The good news, despite what she said, my dog was rehomed and another vet cleared him of any chronic condition so this was just a money grab. Even Dr. Fink admitted that she called me once in 18 months to check on my dog...that speaks for itself. After everything, Dr. Fink didn't address her pretesting recommendation to put my dog on lifelong medicine and doesn't dispute the invoice amounts I paid. To be frank, the only testing I witnessed was the scotch tape test on every visit to see if there was yeast....on visits #2 and #3 thought is was unnecessary if it was obvious the yeast was still present? Those were about 90.00 each from what I remember. The facts of my experience are real. What happened to me and likely others is and remains unacceptable. As for pricing, shop around. I imagine being in Hilton many people will pay HAH without questioning things, but in my case...my experience was enough to take time to write this honest review. My advice remains... don't believe any VET that wants you to spend more for food, shots and medicine without proper testing and if they suggest a more expensive possible treatment program after spending 1200.00 on two visits, run! I have heard there are many fairly priced and caring vets in the area and my recommendation is you find one. I did and now my dog is happier for it! Dr. Fink although I appreciate the response, your lack of apology/accountability for the negative things I shared including you suggesting or sharing Dr. K opinion that I neglecting my dog calls into question your leadership. You never addressed my very factual and valid concerns about the statements made by one of your staff so instead you pushed blame and wanted to dispute my lack of exact pricing of the diet food, etc. I think anyone reading this will understand what to look out for in the future.

AEC was a 40 minute drive, but worth every minute of that drive. I called ahead to let them know I was coming and the present symptoms. When I arrived, Bear was acting totally normal, but out of precaution (and to save going home and coming right back around) I asked to still have some diagnostics run.
