September 9, 2026 To…read moreWhom It May Concern: I understand that many of the letters you receive may involve complaints or concerns. However, I am pleased to say that this letter is quite different. I am writing to express my sincere appreciation for the exceptional care I received from your emergency department, ICU team, physicians, nurses, and support staff during an unexpected medical emergency. I traveled from Augusta, Georgia, to York on business, arriving on June 25. I began my scheduled tour the following day, June 26. After several hours, I began feeling unwell and asked to be taken back to the conference room. First aid was requested, and emergency medical personnel were later called to assist me. Unfortunately, I did not get the name of the EMT who cared for me, but I would like to recognize her professionalism and compassion. She immediately made me feel comfortable, safe, and confident that I was in capable hands. Upon arriving at your emergency department, I continued to receive outstanding care. Every member of the team treated me with kindness, urgency, and respect. Dr. Mpinga was especially reassuring, attentive, and genuinely concerned about my condition. Her calm and compassionate manner provided tremendous comfort during what was an extremely frightening experience. It was determined that I had a bowel obstruction. Because of complications related to previous surgeries, I was unable to vomit, and my abdomen had become severely distended. The situation was serious enough that emergency surgery was initially considered, followed by the possibility of exploratory surgery the next day if surgery the day before didn't happen. Thankfully, after an NG tube was successfully placed in the X-ray department, my condition began to improve, and both surgical procedures were ultimately canceled. I am deeply grateful for the careful evaluation, sound medical judgment, and timely treatment that helped me avoid surgery. I cannot say enough about the exceptional nurses and staff who cared for me in the ICU. Jackie, the supervisor, leads an outstanding team whose professionalism, skill, compassion, and dedication were evident throughout my stay. Courtney, Jenn, Jackie, Mehgan, and Jack were all wonderful. Each of them contributed to making a difficult and frightening situation more manageable. They took the time to monitor me closely, explain what was happening, respond to my needs, and provide reassurance when I needed it most. I realize there may be other individuals whose names I did not obtain or may have unintentionally omitted. Please know that my gratitude extends to everyone who participated in my care, including the EMT, emergency department personnel, physicians, ICU staff, X-ray team, and all other support staff. Their teamwork and commitment to patient care made a lasting impression on me, including Dr. Ali Jawed. Being hospitalized unexpectedly while away from home can be an overwhelming and unsettling experience. However, your staff treated me with such compassion and professionalism that I felt support throughout the entire ordeal. The quality of care I received was truly exceptional, and I will always remember the kindness shown to me. Please share my heartfelt appreciation with Dr. Jawed, Dr. Mpinga, Jackie (2), Courtney, Jenn, Mehgan, Jack, the EMT who assisted me, and everyone else involved in my treatment and recovery. Your organization should be proud to have such capable and compassionate professionals representing it. With sincere gratitude, Robert Minnick

Avoid this place at all costs!!!! My mother lost 20lbs while she was there. None of the staff…read moreinformed me she was losing weight. Food was terrible and obviously they don't monitor nor care if they are eating or not. Had a large bruise on her arm that none of the nurses documented so nobody seemed to know what it came from. Director of nursing never addressed my voicemail or email with photo of it. Knowing she was confused she was left unattended in a room and fell out of her wheelchair. At the time she fell I was in speaking with admin about all my complaints about the facility and this large bruise. Can you believe the unit director had the nerve to ask me if I had thought about where I would place her if she ever needed long term care? My answer, well certainly not here! It's all about keeping beds filled there for profit. They didn't even want to send her out to get checked after falling until I said I want her checked! I guess they were afraid they would lose money for the day since it was still before one o'clock and they knew I wouldn't let her come back after all this. ED said she was malnourished, electrolytes were off, dehydrated, wbc was up and she had a uti. Funny the nurse practitioner had just told me earlier in the day her bloodwork looked pretty good. They lie. My mother suffered a concussion from the fall, severe back pain and a laceration to her arm. They blame everything on being short staffed. Well if you can't have enough staff for all the patients then stop taking more people in. Oh no you can't do that because it's all about the mighty dollar. They don't care about the patients/residents. Don't fall for their talk. They are good at "lip service". Actions speak louder than words. Horrible place. Ask around. Hospitals and a lot of the people in the community know how bad it is. Thankfully I was able to get her out of the hospital and found a caretaker for my mother for when I'm at work and not there to take care of her. She is home now and doing well. Maybe the fall was a blessing in disguise. I really feel if she had to stay at Manorcare any longer she surely would have died from their lack of care and neglect. If you have been through a similar experience with a loved one here or have any questions please feel free to contact me.

My father was placed here to recover after surgery…read more I am a medical professional, who has been in and out of many institutions throughout my life and can offer the following opinion, based on his and my experience here. The staff is courteous and professional, but they are a bit understaffed on the weekends. The facility is clean and tidy, so that's another positive. The food on the other hand is horrific. There are no fresh fruits or vegetables at all. Every meal is laiden with nothing but carbs: mostly white bread and instant mashed potatoes. The amount of salt in the diets here is atrocious and everything comes out of a box or a can. Their idea of nutrition is a fish stick in a hot dog bun. How anyone can heal in this place is beyond me.

The level of care did not match what was promised. There were multiple instances where my loved one was not properly supervised, which led to falls that could have been prevented with appropriate monitoring. We were told that staff would regularly check on residents, but in reality, that did not happen consistently. This lack of attention is especially dangerous for individuals with dementia who require closer care and supervision. What was most upsetting was the lack of communication. When my loved one was injured, when we got there no one came to talk to us about at all. We often had to ask questions ourselves, and even then, answers were unclear. Additionally, the overall attitude of some staff members came across as insensitive and lacking compassion, which is the last thing families want in a care setting. I would strongly recommend that families carefully consider other options and thoroughly research facilities before making a decision. One star because the makes you put one.

When my family and I were looking into assisted living communities for our sister, we were…read moreoverwhelmed by the choices and associated costs and amenities available. But when we toured Paramount Senior Living and met with Starla Press, Director of Admissions and Marketing, we were immediately impressed. Starla spent an enormous amount of time patiently answering our questions and asked many, many questions about our sister and her specific needs. Then she went to the hospital the very next day to meet with our sister and talk with her directly. It was so very clear that Starla was interested in making this work for us and our sister - more than any other community that we met with!! So what makes Paramount Assisted Living so special and superior over other similar communities? It's the people. From Starla - to Olivia Perry, LPN, Resident Care Manager - to Shiryl Stanley in accounting... everyone who works there puts the patient and their family first. When I call to ask a question or discuss my sister's care, they go above and beyond to help. They also know who I am and more importantly, who my sister is and how she is doing. This is a beautiful community and my sister raves about the food!!! She looks forward to all of her meals in the dining room and rates then 5-star. My sister went from a picky, non-eater to actually starting to gain a pound! Thank you, Paramount Senior Living, for taking such good care of my sister and caring about your patients and lovely community.

To be a part of Paramount is to watch the residents admit and excel in their daily living. A non medical look and feel, it is te most affordable community in the area and beyond and our residents are able to age in place. I am thrilled to be a part of a great work family and enjoy watching our community grow every day! This is a must see community if you're searching for your loved one
