I got there just before 9 am and it seemed like the volunteers had only been there a few minutes before me. When I bought my ticket I was their first customer of the day (they sold tickets online beforehand). The ticket had a bit of a map and the places that were open/part of the event, but that was all. There was no info on the ticket or any of the signs about WHEN things were happening. So I waited 10 minutes or so for a neighborhood tour to begin but it didn't start for another 50 minutes or so, at 10 am. I wish they'd indicated on the signs and/or ticket when the neighborhood and monument tours were happening. The lines for the train cars was long. I think it was about an hour and I was there by 9:15. That was in some part because they were limiting the number of people to about a dozen at a time. I appreciate they did this as a COVID precaution. But it was worth it; the cars were amazing. They had a 1950 Pullman streamliner, a 1914 car, and the last one I can't remember the year but I think it was the 20s. They were astounding--talk about luxury. Some of the rooms had their own sink in the corner, and were made up like a hotel bed. You can join AARPCO, the association for private rail owners, and participate in their events. It was so awesome that these folks agreed to bring their privately-owned rail cars here for the event. TIL that you can rent a car and take it wherever you want to go! I totally want to rent one now.... They did have a few volunteers go through before others. If they have similar precautions or limitations in future events I hope they consider setting aside time for the volunteers to do that before or after--not just to move people through a little more quickly, but they should get more time to wander through these amazing cars and take their time in each of them! After I finished the tour of the rail cars, I headed over to join a neighborhood tour. Really glad I got there just in the nick of time because was a great tour, and led by a neighborhood resident who's lived there over a decade. He was able to share a lot of really interesting information about the history of the neighborhood, some of the specific homes, and the architectural details that I wouldn't have known just by taking a self-guided tour through the neighborhood. I took a short tour through the Hotel Florence, which is usually not open but was for this event. It was quite a stately place in its day, and the bottom floor was open to the parlor, billiard room, dining room, and lobby. It was named after Pullman's (rumored to be) favorite daughter, Florence, and I do hope they can restore the building to something resembling its original grandeur. I ended up becoming a member of the Historic Pullman Foundation when I was down here because I certainly want to support their work and restoration. I'm really excited to learn more about the events that happen down here because I just got lucky finding out about Train Days because I knew that Pullman occasionally had neighborhood tours. I will return in future years. Definitely if you're a "foamer" (a term I learned today from a coworker when I suggested the event to her and her husband; apparently, there someone obsessed with trains) you'd love this. But I would encourage anyone with an interest in Chicago history, history in general, trains, or Chicago neighborhoods to go as well.

Our 10:00am pick up came at 9:25am, which may not seem like a big deal, but when you're still washing your face and making coffee, it's not ideal timing. We received multiple calls and texts to rush us, and upon making it to the van BEFORE our scheduled 10am time anyway, we were immediately greeted with "I have a 6:00pm tour to get back to Chicago for, so we're in a tight schedule." Excuse me? We paid for our time, and really shouldn't be rushed. We received no information about any of the wineries, wines, his knowledge or anything else. We were only asked once about the radio, and that was the end of our tour guide talking. There was no rhyme or reason to our stops, just haphazardly went wherever the guide thought was best. We actually stopped in Chesterton, Indiana instead of going to Michigan on our MICHIGAN WINE TOUR, only to get there and be told it was closed for an additional 45 minutes and drive off to another winery... 35 minutes away. At this point, we've been in the van for over two hours with no water, wine or food. We didn't have lunch at Journeyman Distillery as promised, and actually stopped at a pizza place that took over 50 minutes to get us our food. It was horrible, and definitely not "gourmet" as advertised on their website. Inside each of the three winery stops, our guide would RUN to make it in first so that he could tell the winery that we only had 30 minutes there, so make it quick. WHY?!?! This would irk me so much. At the last stop I only got THREE of my five tastings because we were in such a rush. As fate would have it, we were VERY late coming back for his 6:00pm tour thanks to traffic and weather, and our guide actually started reading his next itinerary while driving on the expressway!!!! Our complimentary wine bottles, as stated on the booking website, were not in the car, and when we asked about them he said "oh, I promised you those?" From start to finish, this was a mess. Enjoyable, because I was with my friends, but so incredibly ridiculous. I'm super disappointed that this is the experience we had when it appears others were treated much better. I don't give 1-stars often, but I think my review justifies itself.

The van itself definitely needs some renovations. The upholstery was stained and falling apart. My seat in the van had sharp metal rods digging into my back, as if the cushioning was completely gone. The door/ceiling leaked water onto our heads when it rained. We got to the first winery and it was closed for another half hour. I found it strange that our tour guide didn't know that hours of the wineries. The whole thing seemed so disorganized. ...So we had to get back in the van and drive another 45 minutes. Finally, the only promised destination of the trip is lunch at Journeyman Distillery. And we did not go there!!! Instead, because the driver took us somewhere more convenient for his schedule since he has overbooked himself and needed to get back to the city at a certain time. The place we went to was terrible, and the menu was so much smaller than journeyman's. We honestly chose this company for that stop specifically, and the promised "delicious 2 course gourmet meal". Overall it was a very disappointing and disorganized experience.

This tour was super informative, and our guide was engaging. We booked this tour online for about $30 and picked a desired time slot. Once we arrived at the field, we entered the gate as directed, scanned our ticket, and went through security. We cut it short and barely caught the start of the tour. It starts off with walking up the stairs and seeing the field. The field was like no other and felt smaller than other stadiums. During this tour, we also went to left field and took a picture with the Ivy, went into the visitors' locker room, and went to the announce box up top with an amazing view. If you are visiting Chicago, I 100% recommend this tour; the facts you learn aren't boring but unique. Some of them quite surprised me, like this was the first field to allow you to take a ball back home or even start the pledge of allegiance for all sports. I wish I remembered the tour guide, but you can tell he is very passionate about the Cubs and loves his job. Like what! Lastly, if you show your ticket to stores and bars nearby, you can get a discount! Enjoy!
