We were seated and given a lovely bread board with so-so bread, butter patties and no bread plates. Where shall I put my bread? On the table that they just wiped with disinfectant, or on my service paper napkin, since there is no bread plate. A refill of bread was presented with no more butter. Our set menu was two types of soup (potato leek and Cullen sink. Main choices were chicken pie, roasted BEET, and venison sausage. The mini portion of soup was good, then the mains came out. First off the mains were served on dessert plates. Those who ordered chicken pie received what would be a $2 sausage roll with some sauce veloute and two tablespoons of chicken. I changed my order to sausage, and was told 15 minutes, please. The venison sausage served atop whipped potatoes were good. Then the dessert, the piece de resistance. Either sticky toffee pudding /cake or raspberries, whisky ice cream. The sticky was a cake mix from the shelf. There was no ice cream but a scoop of whipped cream with two When asked where's the whisky ice cream they said "oh golly" perhaps the cook forgot to put it on the plate. So they brought out mini bowls that wouldn't fill an ice cream cone, with standard vanilla ice cream. Service was fine for a tour type dinner. They are severely understaffed. At the end of every adventure, I ask myself "would I return". ? They could not pay me to eat there again, although I would happily employ the barman's services regularly

After our castle tour, we looked for a local place to have dinner before driving back to Dunkeld. Forgan's was such a wonderful surprise. Our party had the lemon and herb Chicken along with the Shepard's pie. My wife and I both agree it was excellent. The lamb based pie was one of the best I've ever had. We had the Haggis appetizer and topped it all off with a pint of Forgan's own brew. Dessert was toffee pudding and the chocolate mousse. All very good. The ambiance is sophisticated and beautifully decorated. Service was very nice but bit slow. However, should one be in a hurry when on vacation? Be careful, the restaurant is large but its front end is small so you could easily drive/walk by and not see it. Definitely would recommend Forgan's to anyone visiting the nearby castle, beach, or Dundee.

It even has outdoor seating where you can dine, have a drink and take in the view, weather permitting of course. I had lunch here with friends and was very pleased with my meal. The main menu has options of 2 or 3 courses with a la carte options as well. I opted for the lunch menu and went with the Chicken tikka open sandwich. I was thoroughly surprised that it was actually chicken tikka strips on an open sandwich. (I was surprised simply because most places that advertise a chicken tikka sandwich really mean that they have chicken chunks in an Indian-ish flavoured mayo.) The chicken was served on a bed of salad, mayo and an impressively thick slice of brown bread (no complaints about this lovely bread). The sandwich was great. I did, however, think that it had too much mayo, partially due to the fact that I didn't feel like it added anything to the taste of the sandwich... but this is an extremely minor complaint, if not simply a personal preference. It was served with a side of coleslaw and small portion of salted crisps. My friends got the impressive looking seafood platter for two, which I think I would recommend. The View is a nice little unexpected gem in a village that has a post office and one local shop. If you're in Wormit or Newport, check it out.

Not sure the use of the term 'Tapas' is useful as it implies ( to most people) that they are serving Spanish food when they really mean that the dishes on the Tasting Menu should be eaten 'in the same way as a tapas menu' with a selection of items shared amongst a group of customers. Although the concept is well advanced in major towns and cities and viewers of Masterchef will also understand the idea it is not perhaps widespread in a smaller location and could lead to misunderstandings and disappointment. Which would be a shame. Clearly the Chef has worked in luxury restaurants where Rosettes are the norm and the food appreciated. Very friendly, courteous staff. Excellent service and good value for money. We will definitely be back.

It is British food so I expected the typical hamburger, pasties, pastas, and pizza menu ,but for a Bar like british kinda restaurant 4.5 stars is high, so we went. High Yield: A Bar/pub restaurant that offers pretty sweet combo deals good for a family, with hearty burgers, pizzas, pastas, curries, soups, and other things on a large menu with a festive environment. Food: I give them a 3/5 We did the 2 for 10.99 deal. From that deal you can order anything that is marked as qualifying for this deal. You can choose from hamburgers, lasagne, Hunter's chicken, and even chicken masala or vegetable tikka! So we ordered the following: Vegetable tikka: I don't like peppers and this one had a lot of peppers. So if you're someone like me, ask them to remove ahead of time. This seemed to be about a 3/5 in flavoring as my sister didn't even finish 1/3 of her portion. Came with basamati rice and naan. The naan seemed alright and the basmati rice also seemed ok. Hunters Chicken: A chicken breast with bacon put in the middle with some sauce on top. Came with onion rings and wedge fries. Chicken was alright- a little dry for my liking, but the bacon probably helped in keeping it moist Classic Lasagne: This is a beef lasagne with a generous amount of cheese on top baked in its own small dish. The beef was enough for you to see. Lasagne was a little ovvercooked for my liking. And a generous helping of cheese. Very hearty and rich and warm for anyone wanting a good comfort food to keep them warm on a cold day. Soup of the day- Potato Leek- This soup was also pretty good. Add a dash of pepper on top and you're set to go. Not too creamy and not too watery, flavor was just right. 5 a Day Salad- Definitely recommend this if you're someone tired of the Caesar or typical house salad- this one is one of the most unique blends I've ever seen. It had avocado (unripe, you can taste the weird watery texture), green grapes, tomatoes, lettuce, and some red kinda veggie that I wasn't a fan of. But if you need greens, this is the way to go. Service: you order at the bar counter and then sit down. Our waiter was attentive enough. Friendly enough staff so they get a 4/5 for service. Bang for buck: 5/5 2 main courses for 10.99??? You can't beat that kinda deal if you're on a budget. Def recommend. and desserts are 2 for 6 pounds.

Ordered chips and poured salt on them and it turned out that it had been replaced with sand--explained this to the staff and there was barely an apology. Overall, this place is good for a pint and some football but absolutely nothing else.

We went there tonight for my wife's birthday and we were treated horribly from start to finish. I would never go here again and would highly recommend that anyone thinking of going here goes elsewhere. My wife's steak was hard. Yes, hard. It didn't come with the sides stated on the menu. For the price of £29, it sure tasted like last year's frozen beef and was cooked dry. The burger was "meh" at best. The food was cold and my guess is that the poor service is why the steak was hard and the burger soggy and cold. Let me add that the place was empty, so there was no excuse for the poor service We had to chase down the waitress, the older and blonde lady working there tonight on the 8th of June, to get pay our bill. We were completely ready to leave and when we got the bill she dropped it and walked away. I had my wallet in my hand and nothing left on the table. We yelled after her to come back and she never did. We had to get the younger chap in the place to come with a card reader to pay so we could leave. How unbelievably RUDE. JUST SAY NO! GO ELSEWHERE!
