I had a wonderful experience with Collingdale Performance. Paul is very knowledgeable and has the passion and love on working on vehicles. He was able to quickly diagnose the problems on my 71 Chevy Nova He called me before doing any additional work and gave me an estimate and discussed all of my options. I found Paul to be trustworthy and I would reccomend Collingdale Performance to everyone. It's very rare to find someone with the level of passion and that will take care of your car and have a clean shop as well.

Paul is the best hands down.

I took my truck to Paul at Collingdale Performance for new exhaust, intake, and a custom tune up next.

In fairness to some other posts the place wasn't the easiest to find however we aren't talking about finding the nearest corner Wawa here. We are talking about a salvage cycle shop and its actual location is exactly what you'd expect--in the back of a bunch of warehouses. I would recommend once getting close out the name of the location in instead of the address and it will drop you off right at their doorstep. It's kind of an old school shop with a relative small "reception" area with a couple seats, glass display case with items, and a few other motorcycle items in the area. They have a strict no cellphone policy in that area and I can totally get on board with that. It is a small room and if you have business to attend to, take it outside (though when one guy was on the phone and they asked him to stop they said it was because it messes with their reception with their communication in the back). Whatever--simple rule and one that I appreciated. As far as customer service--they guys were awesome. Every single person I interacted was polite, consultative, and seemed to value me as a customer. This isn't an Apple store with check in on iPads and crap like that. These guys were just real straight to the point kinda guys. No kissing a$$ but treated me fairly. In the end, I got what I needed. Mission accomplished. As far as the price--it's fair. Had they not had it who knows how long it would have taken for me to get it. For that I would have paid a premium. I asked the guy at the front how long they've been in business and he said 20 years and I guess there was a similar business for a few years before that. I'm hoping I don't need any parts there again anytime soon but if I do I won't hesitate to go back.

Recently, one Saturday, this SUV does not start. I call AAA for a jump start. The mechanic-driver arrives 1.5 hours later and analyzes the situation: "It isn't your battery, but your fuel pump. It's failing." I learn that a fuel pump replacement for this vehicle costs between $1,000 and $1,500, including everything. On Monday I take the SUV to Tom Mayberry, owner of Mac & Sam, who further analyzes the problem. His conclusion: "The AAA mechanic-driver is crazy, and our fuel pump fine." He eventually determines the issue to be a corroded wire that needs to be replaced to deliver "full" electrical power to the fuel pump. Tom says he spent 1.5 total hours on the issue, but that includes a couple of trial runs and time for the engine to cool down after one experiment. And it is a slow day. I ask what I owe, expecting (rightfully) a bill of a few hundred dollars. His response: "Don't worry about it." That's Tom Mayberry and that's Mac & Sam; and that attitude and expert skill combo is why I keep coming back.
