I took my mom here for her 75th birthday in May of 2018 and had a delightful time. The location,…read morelooking south towards the Great Smoky Mountains National Park was peaceful, and even though it was a short downhill drive to Gatlinburg, it felt like it was miles away. We were greeted by one of the managers when we arrived who made us feel welcome. While there is not daily housekeeping, we had more than enough towels (and coffee pods!) for our three night stay. There was a fire through this area back in 2016. There is no sign of the fire in the remaining lodge building. Off to the side, up a hill, are the foundations of former their lodge buildings and restaurant. The view to the south includes some burned trees in the distance, but I found that it didn't take away from the ambiance. Due to the fire, the does lodge have a more remote feeling due to the lack of telephone, cable, or internet. We didn't miss any of these, and we had reasonable cell phone reception. I look forward to seeing the lodge thrive again and wish the owners the best in their continued renewal.

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for four days during the week after Christmas. Found this place…read morebecause I wanted a bed n breakfast & this was the closest I found. It's unfortunate what happened with the fires back in 2016 but the business keeps on pushing through. They still have a decent amount of amenities even without the other spaces they had offered before the fires. The rooms are a decent size, especially for two people. They offer a full sized kitchen which was nice so we didn't have to eat out every night. The balcony is cute & have great views of mt leconte. The bed was comfy & everything was clean. They had plush robes in the closet which were super comfy & great to put on after a hot bath in the spa tub in the bathroom. They also maintain hiking trails right by the lodge & they had a nice set up by the creek, there was a bathroom down there & a fire pit and lots of chairs set up. The lodge is only a mile up the road from downtown & the national park entrance so it's in close proximity to alot of great things. The only issue we ran into was not enough parking but we made it work. Overall had a great experience here & would definitely stay here again.

The Nantahala River Lodge is fantastic. This is the best place to stay in the area. The only reason…read moreI did not give it five stars is because there is no wifi in the lodge. I run a business, Wojdylo Social Media, and I need wifi even if it is not a strong signal. If I were getting away and taking clients to go fly fishing and golfing in the mountains it would be a challenge for me to run my business as I have email to check and social networks to update. I have AT&T which has absolutely zero service at the lodge. In fact, my service in the Nantahala River Gorge is very spotty. I will pick up service at NOC and as I get past Andrews but I will not have service anywhere in the Gorge. If internet and cell phone service do not matter to you this is definitely a five star location. The lodge is right along the Upper Nantahala River which is one of the best fly fishing rivers this side of the Mississippi. The river fishes much better in the fall and the spring compared to the summer. If you are going to take a trip to the Nantahala to go fly fishing I would strongly suggest going before June or after September 1st. This will give you optimal fly fishing conditions. Staying at the Nantahala River Lodge will allow you to fish, basically, from your back porch. It is also a great opportunity to bring a book and just get away. There are plenty of books and games in the house so even if you forget your entertainment you will still have something to read or play.

We just left this amazing vacation spot today. The lodge had everything that we needed and more. It…read moreis beautifully decorated and has a great fishing spot right in the back yard. We had 6 adults and 1 child and had plenty of space. The lodge is conveniently located close to the NOC and a lot of hiking trails, but you could stay at the lodge and have a great vacation. We can't wait to plan out next vacation.

We had a magical evening dining at snowbird after our lake elopement. It was the perfect ending to…read morea perfect day and we were blown away by our dining experience. Right from the start we were greeted by Rosa who immediately made us feel right at home with her warmth and humor. Chef Andrew is an incredible talent. Everything was just extraordinarily delicious! We started with a very yummy chili with cornbread followed by the best pork belly we have had with a yummy almond butter sauce (lord!!) and then finished it off with perfectly cooked flatiron steaks with yummy cowboy butter! Oh and Chef even brought us some crispy cilantro rice that was also just a masterpiece of flavors. I don't know how many times I stopped during our meal to exclaim "this is SO GOOD" ....but it was many. That was the food- the people and service were as if not more impressive. Taz, the innkeeper who served us was incredibly kind and friendly and even brought us a complimentary champagne toast, which was so nice and appreciated! Again Rosa was hilarious and so sweet to us and then we met Shannon who brought us our desserts at the end of our meal and also made us feel like old friends. It was so over the top good that I feel we will be forever spoiled! We definitely will be coming back to stay. Many thanks again

The front desk girls were so sweet, welcoming, and ready to take care of whatever we needed and the Innkeeper/GM, Taz, wow! She seems to do it all and does it with such grace and kindness and pays attention to every guest - no matter how busy. We enjoyed speaking with her and learning the history of this little tucked away find. And what a find! What a location! Magnificent views and so peaceful, yet so many things you can do - especially nothing at all! Exploring was so much fun! They have an age limit of 13 years so keep that in mind if you have kiddos but what an escape and needed respite for us. They make fresh baked cookies in the morning - so delicious. Service overall was impeccable and we felt well cared for. Even better than warming up by the gorgeous fire and having our cocktails hand delivered was the food. The Chef most definitely has talent and the quail was perfection - also such creative presentation of his dishes! Who knew 5-star quality dining was waiting for us in such a perfectly remote location. It is so gorgeous up here as the weather turns cooler but we will definitely have to come back in the summer to take advantage of the water activities. We met beautiful people during our stay and if the fact couples make it a point to keep coming back years later doesn't speak to you about how special this place is, maybe the fact that you will witness hospitality at its finest and truly hard-working human beings who not only serve up an amazing experience but true kindness. And in this world we're living in, this is a welcome refreshment. Many thanks to the entire team, Taz and Chef Andrew! We've come away with priceless memories and a more refined palette! Plans are already in the works to visit again soon!
