The owners are some of the kindest people we've met in NC, super accommodating, ensured we liked our spot, and set up a picnic table and fire pit for us to use at the site. Truly the best Campground we've ever stayed at. I highly recommend staying here, whether for a night, a week, or for a long term!!!

Views of beautiful tall trees…read more The sites are very spacious on large gravel surrounded by green grass that run all along the creek where you can dip your feet in, throw in a line, observe the Ducks and Blue Heron or just listen to the serene sound of the water. It also is a short drive to many activities should you choose. A short drive to the quaint town of Murphy for vintage shopping, wine tasting, brewery and plenty of places to grab a bite. We highly recommend the fried pickles at Chevelle's! Owners, Jon and Eileen are so welcoming and always available if needed. New bathroom/showers will be finished by Spring 2024. She has a wheelchair and I was happy to see the paths around us were all paved, so we were able to push her along them easily. We didn't venture onto any paths with elevation; the main path we chose followed the river and there were lots of areas to walk down to get a close up view or even wade if inclined. The path was shady also which was nice. I loved seeing the waterfall by the river right by the parking lot. This was a great time and I'd definitely return to explore some more paths or take a longer trek.

We stayed the maximum time allowed of two weeks and really enjoyed Gibson Cove. We had a beautiful…read moresite on the water and were able to fish, swim and tie our boat up right in front of our campsite. Every site has a picnic bench, fire pit, water hookups, 30 or 50 amp hookups and pretty level gravel parking areas. WiFi is spotty and towards the end of the campground (second loop) it's pretty much non existent. We have a repeater and tethered off our phones which worked well for us. For campers with trailers or RV's there is one dump site for all, none available at individual sites so if you stay for awhile be aware of this. Some folks called a guy who came in and pumped their black water tank for $25. The camp hosts will have information for you if interested. Public restrooms are old, need some TLC but otherwise they're clean. There is a shower with a curtain. Fun hikes/walks just a quick drive away at Jackrabbit Mountain. Beautiful walk from your campsite across the Chatuge Dam. Mornings when the world is waking up and evenings at sunset are my favorite times to wander over. Beautiful place to relax and regroup. We will be back!
