Highly recommend Sylvan Monroe for SAT prep!…read more The program was well-structured and self-paced for my son. Knowledgeable, attentive, and readily available staff and tutors made a big difference.

I purchased several math classes for my granddaughter over a 3-5 month period prior to COVID-19…read more Our experience with Sylvan at that time was great and the director scheduled a meeting every 3 weeks to discuss her progress with me. After she finished the Math courses and prior to COVID starting, I purchased a reading class. Although the Sylvan centers in this area were still offering masked classes, I did not feel comfortable with my granddaughter attending - so I deferred sending her even though I'd already paid the money. Over a year later, after vaccines started and COVID was better, I contacted Sylvan to have my granddaughter start her class. This session was as different as day and night from the previous Math sessions. Whereas the staff had been very open and engaging, I found that I had to call or email several times to even get answers to any questions I had. The day prior to my granddaughter's last class, I realized that she'd had no reviews. I emailed Sylvan and asked if they still provided those. They said yes and for me to make an appointment. Well that was totally useless as she only had one more day of instruction left. I hate to say it, but I think since the money I'd paid them had already been spent over a year ago, they somehow didn't feel that they needed to be as engaged as before. Needless to say, I probably wouldn't use Sylvan again.

Stay away! We were unhappy with the services (kid just put on a tablet with no real teacher…read moreinstruction). The policy is if you stop within 60 days you can get a refund. We put our notice in and did everything right. The refund is supposed to take up to 45 days. We are past day 60 now and have been lied to and given the run around. Told it was mailed. Didn't get anything in the mail. Tonight my husband called the center director and she said she had nothing to do with the refund a d gave him a 800 number to call to check on the status. He repeated it back to her and she confirmed. When he called the number, it was an adult hotline. Not a place you want to deal with. Sorry we ever stepped foot in the place.

I enrolled my daughter for only less than 2.5 months. Today I asked her teacher (Mary Ann) why each…read morechild had an "excellent" on their assignments except mine. Her teacher's exact response was "I can give whatever grade I want to." And then proceeded to walk into my personal space and was less than 1 inch away from me. I told the director (Carla) and her response was that my child was academically behind the other children and she understands why the teacher would be upset. This is not the first time I have been dismissed when I ask about my child. I wish I could give a negative score. The communication is terrible, no information is ever sent home. No emails. It's like pulling teeth to speak to someone. They need to reorganize and take a class on how to speak to parents.

Cynthia worked with my child on college application essays, and they turned out great. What I…read morereally appreciate about her approach is that she knows how to get kids talking about what they're interested in and good at. That means the final essay is authentic and doesn't read like an essay someone else wrote. And I think the writing process itself that they went through, from coming up with ideas to talking about what makes a good essay, is a great experience for students to have even independent of the final result. We really appreciated this help; thanks, Cynthia!

My grandson has been at the new Learning Experience in Fort Mill for only a few weeks and his…read morespeech has improved exponentially. We and more importantly he loves the staff, especially Ms. J his main teacher. They have STEM and phonics-based learning and do not hold back students from learning because they are not fully potty trained. They teach, not just watch the children. When I pick him up and ask him if he had a good day, he always response YES! They have full doors on each classroom so that other classes do not interrupt each other. They also do not charge extra for sport activities, everything is included. We highly recommend the Learning Experience in Fort Mill.
