I did a Google search for used bookstores in Duluth since I was planning a trip there for some groceries. The name of this place is what first grabbed my attention. I'm so glad it did! Not only did they have a copy in stock, it was half the price of Amazon! I didn't get the name of the person who helped me out over the phone, but she was awesome. She let me pay over the phone, was super-friendly, and when I did the curbside pick up, gladly left it outside the door when I arrived. For an antisocial person like me, that's aces! I hope to someday make an appointment to go in and look around because I am itching to spend money in a store that has already impressed me without me even having walked in the door.

They might not have as many books as a Barnes and nobles but they have staff that can help you order books you want. The display were very cute and in their selections I found j book I never heard of but definitely will be reading. Actually I started it then stopped because I am reading another book on my kindle and listening to another on my audibles. They also have several small trinkets. I could spend a long time in here . Got up to the register and the woman rang it up at $6.99. I exclaimed to my daughter, "NICE! It's cheaper than we thought." The woman took my card and then said, "wait that one is $9.99." I said oh that's fine that's what we were expecting. She went on to adjust the order and said "yeah the ones with sequence are 9.99 and the regular ones are 6.99... but you knew that." I was shocked! Was she accusing me of trying to get one over on her? I told her I "assumed we misread the price or there was a sale." I am not the one who told her the price, she's the worker she should know how to ring up merchandise correctly! She said "that's fine for you but doesn't work well at the end of the day." She treated me like I was trying to steal $3! Like I switched the tags or demanded a lower price. SHE rang up the order! I said it was cheaper than what I expected and was fine with her changing the price. She still was itchy. We won't be going back and hope you don't either.

Duluth Antique Marketplace just opened...all of the local antique stores said we should check them out and see what they're all about. No one we talked to had actually been there yet. I'd say that only one in 20 items in this store is actually an antique or something vintage. (But there seems to be more antiques in the basement.) DAM seems to mostly be a store with "up-cycled" merchandise, home-made crafts, reproduction antiques, and a few vintage items. I didn't see any hardcore high-end antiques. I saw a lot of things made out of painted wood, corrugated tin, pottery, and galvanized metal...you get the picture. Despite not really being a traditional antique store, I like what they're trying to do here. The store is large, bright, and everything is displayed nicely.
