Cuban with fries
Michelle W.

We stopped at Coldwater recently, interested in trying some of their brews. We were very disappointed that there has been some kind of issue with their brewing system and none of their home brews were available. They did have some American beers on draft and a few others in cans. Inside, the place feels antiquated in a good way as it is housed in an old train station. Their merch was very cool. Service was fairly good. We ordered the smash burger with green beans (veggie of the day) and a Cuban sandwich with fries. Our food was excellent, and the real highlight of our visit. There was a shocking number of flies inside the restaurant and we kept having to wave them off of our food, which was pretty gross and a distraction from enjoying our meal. To be fair, though, it's August in Alabama so flies are everywhere.

Comfortable, casual atmosphere

The building is the old train station. Restored to great condition which set a great vibe to dine in. My server Paisley couldn't be any nicer. Numerous local draft beers brewed on premises. I had the Rougaroux which is a Cajun pasta dish. Delicious. Two local draft IPAs, tasty Caesar salad and the entree made for the perfect dining experience.

Derelict buildings around the property.

Business event, large table. Server was great considering the amount of people she had to serve. Nachos were good. Truffle fries extremely salty. Fish and chips were good. Fries very salty. Cat fish was ok. Burgers looked good. Wings were big and tasty. Renovated Train Station now a sports bar. Great barn doors.

Swiss mushroom burger w/fries

This was a nice place. When you first walk in you come into the bar area. They had live music going on the evening we came. It was later in the evening the night we came and we had children with us so they sat us in the back room. I believe I saw a sign that said no children after 8, which is when the kitchen closes. For appetizers we ordered a sample plate and Brussels Sprouts. Both were very good. The sample plate came with smoked bologna. That was our first experience with it. I don't eat bologna as a general rule but this tasted more like a summer sausage with a nice crust and bbq sauce. The cheese dip that came with the plate was ok. It wasn't bad but for a beer and cheddar sauce I expected more flavor. The Brussels sprouts were excellent. They had great color. They are topped with bacon, dried cranberries, blue cheese, and a balsamic reduction. For our entrees I ordered the Swiss mushroom burger, which was a special that night. The burgers are hand made it appears. It was nice and juicy. The veggies on it were also very fresh. The fries were nice and crispy seasoned fries. My husband ordered the brisket bbq plate. It was ok. The brisket looked great but was lacking in flavor. Also for the price you pay it wasn't worth what you got. There were 5 of us though and he was the only one disappointed. My oldest got the shrimp and grits. I thought it had a ton of grits vs the small amount of shrimp but she was never going to be able to finish it all anyway. My other daughter got the Cajun pasta. The sauce on the two dishes seemed very similar only the pasta had more creole seasoning. They both tasted good though. They offered a nice selection of beers. We ordered a Pineapple pop tart sour which was really good. If you like sweet and aren't a big fan of beer I highly recommend it. I tried a peach cider that was too sour for my liking. My daughter got the peach ring mixed drink that was good but very sweet. It has fruit in the bottom. Overall it was a good experience. The service was great, very attentive, but the prices are a bit steep. We will go back but this will definitely be an occasional spot. For 5 of us, after tip, with 3 of us getting one drink we averaged around $40 per person.

Great for groups! We had a private dining room.

We enjoyed a wonderful lunch last Saturday at Coldwater Mountain Brewpub. I wasn't super hungry, so I ordered a cup of soup (the soup of the day was Tomato Basil) and a side order of fried whole okra. Both were delicious! Our server was very attentive and friendly. CMBP is a cool, laid-back place with a nice selection of beers and cocktails, and the food is always outstanding.

Lots of room for activities in this spot. The service was 5/5 - but the food was short of that. Compared to the rest of Anniston, it's superior, however. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and offered up some fantastic suggestions (the peach cider was unbelievably good). Even though this spot seems to be tucked away a bit off the main road, it's worth trying out.

From out of town and stopped by bc reviews were good. I ordered off the lunch menu and got charged for the dinner price. $21 vs $12. Big difference. Caesar salad was dry and it was like they were shaking the last of the powdered Parmesan on it. The fish was okay. The fries were too overfried. I wouldn't get any of this again. I wish I had gone somewhere else bc I'm still hungry. Server was nice but I do wish she would've clarified lunch vs dinner since it was 2 pm and they gave me a lunch menu.

Another great visit to Coldwater! Thanks for amazing service and delicious food and beverages! We brought our kids this time and they loved it as well!

Overall consistently have been happy with everything I have eaten, but I will say that while still pretty good the burgers are not as good as they were early on. One of the big draws for me has always been the outdoor patio area that is shared with the other businesses that are part of the Trussville Entertainment District (TED). The covering over the area keeps you out of the direct sun but still has a very open air feel. On my most recent visit I got the Feral Smash Burger with Cheddar instead of American Cheese. I ordered the tots for my side because I swore that I had gotten them many times in the past. Looking back at all my photos, clearly I was mistaken. Since I am not a big fan of sweet potato the bartender brought me fries instead to go with my side of Beer Cheese which is well worth the added cost. Depending on when you go, you may have to go inside to order at the bar for the outdoor seating (such as I did today). Other days when the TED is busier and peak times you can order at the outdoor bar. For solo lunch dining I prefer other options in the TED but Ferus is great for groups and outdoor dining. I am sure I will be back especially when my daughter comes to town since she likes to refill her growler with the seasonal sours.

Love Back Forty, along with the rest of Birmingham. There's always so much going on here,…read moreespecially when the weather is good. Tons of kids and dogs outside. People often host their own little parties and events at the picnic tables here. I came on a Sunday afternoon, and it seemed like a lot of families came for lunch and to hang out after church. The food here is certainly impressive food for a bar to me. I love the wood fired pizzas. I will say, I think the size is a bit awkward. They're a little too big to be a single serving, and a little too small to be for two people. The beer is all good. Service at the bar always friendly. The fries here are some of my favorite in town. Shoestring.

Located right next to Sloss Furnaces, this is a fantastic place to grab a beer, catch the big game,…read moreand enjoy a solid meal with friends. They've got a huge selection of beers and a full dinner menu, so there's something for just about everyone. Whether you're coming for drinks or planning to eat, you won't feel limited. Parking is plentiful, which is always a win in Birmingham, and there's plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. It works well for small groups or larger parties. One thing to know going in: this isn't really a full-service setup. You order and pick up your own food, and aside from someone occasionally clearing empty pint glasses, there's not much table service. We actually didn't receive utensils with our food and had to go back up to the counter to grab some. Not a huge deal, just something to be aware of. I ordered the catfish sandwich with fries. The sandwich itself was delicious -- crispy, flavorful, and satisfying. My only small gripe was that it came in a to-go box. I understand it probably makes cleanup easier for them, but it does take away a bit from the dine-in experience. The fries were shoestring style, which just aren't my personal favorite. They're fine, but I always feel like I need about three handfuls to feel satisfied. We went on a Saturday night and the brewery was packed -- and I mean packed. It was very loud and definitely more of a party atmosphere than a relaxing dinner vibe. If you're looking for a quiet night out, this probably isn't it. But if you want energy, beer, sports on TV, and a fun crowd, this place delivers. Overall, it's a great hangout spot to catch a game, grab a drink, and enjoy good food -- just expect a lively, high-energy scene.

We have loved their Blood Orange Berliner Weisse for years and have always said we needed to make it to the brewery. Today was the perfect chance. It was a Sunday afternoon, and luckily, they were open. There were just a few people, but as they day progressed, more trickled in. Michelle, the beertender, at the time was great. She suggested all sorts of beers based on my taste and let me sample them all. One suggestion she had was to mix the Mango with the Blood Orange. It was really good. The two that I ended up drinking were the Duck River Dunkel and the ISB English Ale. I also liked that they had pretzels and popcorn as bar snacks. We met some really nice people and talked for a while. It reminded me of the old summer days when everyone would just sit and talk and enjoy life. It sure beat the fast-paced and scheduled life that goes on today.
