Late night treats! A little less variety than the ones we have at home.
    Patrise S.

I was out of town, yet still able to use my rewards to treat a friend to some ice cream. It was late, yet we made it in. He was happy to get a treat, while I was surprised about the lack of variety. Now I have a great story about having 7 flavors to choose from and getting one, only one peanut butter cup broken as my mix-in. Well mine was the free one I guess. It was nice to get back home.

First off the ice cream is amazing, I love cold stone. What I will say is that this pariticular location leaves a lot to be desired. There is not a lot of seating. There are only three tables with 3 chairs each. However there is plenty of space for them to add more seating. The other downside to this location is that they are frequently out of a lot of products. They had two freezers that should be filled with cakes and cupcakes but they were empty. In addition they had no cones left only waffle bowls. Other than that the place is good. There was a long line but the two employees did an amazing job of moving through the line quickly.

Strawberry Blonde in a waffle bowl

I came here on Sunday afternoon for icecream. There was a decent line up but service was fast. I got Strawberry Blonde in a waffle bowl. It was my first time having a waffle bowl. It tasted good when I got to dip pieces of waffle into the icecream. As well I didn't have to be wary of the icecream melting too fast in a cone. With the waffle bowl it is a bit expensive but it is a sweet treat regardless. Recommend!

She was very friendly and I felt a women living her dream. Nestled in the heart of Germantown, my GPS took me right there! Once inside we were greeted by employees that let us know the items for sale were in the back of the store. I found that to be a bit different, that all the baking is done upfront, so you can see things being made from scratch. I wanted to try everything, but the waistline nor the pocketbook would allow that. Between me and my daughter, we decided on the Bread pudding (delicious), Peach cobbler (my favorite), taste like homemade! Turkey Bacon cupcake ,they candied the bacon on top. The cupcake was moist and delicious, but could of been a little bigger. I didn't taste the banana pudding, but my daughter said it was also delicious. They make cakes for special occasions, like wedding, baby showers etc. They also have a few special events there (check their website). Where has this place been since I have been living in Philadelphia? When you walk in, there's an older gentleman who has his wet and dry ingredients in bowls and ready to be mixed and concocted for whatever is on the menu that day. Now how often do you enter a bakery and see all of the ingredients on the table and made right in front of you? I went to the back where all of the precious desserts were being shelved and stored and my eyes grew large. I had asked the young lady if their chocolate cookies were soft and she told me they were pretty popular. Needless to say, I bought a dozen alongside the three cupcakes at the bottom. There was even a woman who entered and said she had just bought some of their oatmeal raisin cookies and had to come back and get more. Those cookies were hands down the best I've had and they trump 4th street cookies by a few miles. Soft, buttery, and full of fresh ingredients I couldn't help but to eat a few on the way home. I'm just a bit sad... how did I miss this place since I've been in Philly? Well, good thing I know now.

tl;dr the fish po' boys at this Mount Airy sandwich shop are fantastically delicious and hearty,…read moreovershadowing even the terrible service Gilben's is a family-owned soul foodery best known for its signature po' boys. The 3 interconnected shops -- the Bakery, the Creation, and the Smokehouse -- collectively sport a brown-and-pink storefront, immediately popping out from a dull and industrial block. The stores are all slightly tacky and run down, but each is otherwise uniquely decorated. The takeout-only Bakery (home to sandwiches and baked desserts) has lime-green walls decked with large, sentimental paintings. Wall-mounted flat screen flash pictures of menu items with Microsoft WordArt text. The bakery display is relatively barren, and Christmas decorations have yet to be taken down. Old-school R&B playing up front clashes with modern rap blasting from the open kitchen. GIlben's seafood hoagies called to me as the perfect Lenten eats, and a buddy and I recently journeyed to Mount Airy for late Friday lunch. We had no trouble finding free street parking just across the street. We split 2 sandwiches: the Fried Shrimp Po' Boy and the Fried Fish Po' Boy, both upgraded with melted cheese and sauteed onions. While you can't go wrong with either protein option, we agreed that the shrimp was more flavorful, while the fish was more texturally aesthetic. The monster sandwiches -- each at least twice the size of an ordinary po' boy -- were half-wrapped in aluminum foil and then squeezed into the largest Styrofoam takeout boxes I've ever seen. The seafood was lightly battered and heavily seasoned, then stuffed alongside shredded lettuce and sliced tomatoes into extra-large, toasted French rolls (accurately described as "garlic bread"). They were then hosed with a house rémoulade that had a vibrantly rich, tangy flavor to match its neon-orange color. The end product was as delicious as it is messy -- but, notably, no napkins are to be found without a dedicated search. Why one star off? The painfully inefficient service. I had placed my order 30 minutes in advance. Not only was it not ready at my scheduled pick-up time, but the staff hadn't even done anything beyond printing out the ticket. The cashier shrugged and quoted us another 15 minutes. Other patrons placed their orders in person (so at least 30 minutes after we had ordered) and received their food at the same time as us. And, after we did have our meal, most of the few two-seater bartops were taken by employees taking personal phone calls, and trying to wave down a staff member for a napkin felt like searching for water in the desert. Lastly, the queue at the Smokehouse was shockingly long even during the off hour: some folks stood in line during the entire duration of my visit. The sandwiches start at about $15, raising in price with upgrades (such as additional toppings or premium protein options), and each can fill you up for an entire day. Although GIlben's is a takeout-centric operation, I can't imagine the po' boys holding up against even a short trip home -- the sandwiches began descending into a soggy mess before I had even taken a bite. Regardless, Gilben's po' boys are unbeatable when fresh, even compared to New Orleans.

I called to cancel the order 34 minutes later she did not answer , her name is Crystal Brown. I proceeded to call the next morning. She still did not answer the phone. It's now 13 hours later i had to have my elderly father go into the restaurant and put me on speakerphone so I can tell her to cancel the order. I was in Maryland at a funeral home planning my mother's funeral. I expressed that to Crystal and explain that we were paying out of pocket and that I needed the refund so I can get food from the church, she refused to give me a refund. I her offered to pay a cancellation fee. It was only 13 hours after I given her the money but she refused to return it. She said I had to take the food or I get nothing but the food wasn't prepared yet. She tried to lie and say she did, but if she did do so it be spoiled because the food was ordered to be cooked for the 20th. The food serve save safety laws. State that prepped macaroni and cheese should not be refrigerated no more than three days or it will spoil and has to be in a airtight container. I was a cook for 18 years so I am quite aware of the food safety regulations Miss Crystal was very ignorant and disrespectful because when I expressed we were paying for the funeral out of pocket, her response was I don't care if your mother died. That's not my problem. It's yours so you either come Wednesday and get this food or you get nothing ! I have never in my life experience, such a thing very unprofessional. I recommend that no one patronize her. i was already going through a tough time grieving and paying for funeral expenses out-of-pocket she was so inconsiderate and cruel not a good business person! plan to take her to court That's not the right way to do business so everybody out there think twice before you patronize this unfair and professional restaurant, Tina Money.

My other typical option to use them is to get engaged to be ready for marriage. Any potential interested party? lol The amount of food and the quality of food I got for the TooGoodToGo price is very reasonable. The cakes themselves were fine but they didn't stand out for me. I took a look at their website and I saw some fancy visual creations and I would probably feel different it they felt comfortable giving those kind of slices outs. Maybe they do but it is all random. This isn't a place you get to walk into. You ring the bell, maybe several times, then pick up what you ordered in bag(s) and away you go. The frosting added to the cake gives it the flavor. No flavoring inside the cake that I noticed either. Good product and excellent offering for 5 stars on TooGoodToGo but the normalcy of the random offering makes me go with 4 stars for Yelp today. Also, I just noticed the owner name is Meg. So the company was probably aptly named NutMeg because of her name! I wonder if one could change their name to something like "N. Meg C. D." We hired Nutmeg to design our wedding cake and we are so happy we did. The cakery offers a few cake tastings per year and they are worth every penny. Come hungry, though! The slices are large and in charge and packed with flavor and moist as can be. While many flavor pairings are offered, you have the option to choose whatever combo you'd like. The process itself was very easy and Meg was very accommodating and helpful along the way. The cake shops even give the option to prepackage an anniversary cake which we loved for the convenience. It's no shock that everyone raved about our cake(s). We chose the chocolate cake with cherry buttercream and chocolate chunk and bourbon cherries. If you've ever tried a chocolate covered cherry, you will LOVE this combo. For our backstage cake we chose a more classic combo: vanilla chocolate chunk with chocolate ganache. Equally as delicious and perfect for those guests who have a simpler palette. Thank you so much, Nutmeg, for helping make our wedding day perfect!! We can't wait to return for more cakes in the future.
