Basic ice cream that is over priced. I found nothing special about this ice cream. Dairy Dan's and even Culver's has better ice cream than this place. This place has many toppings and their own pre-made recommendations like the founder's favorite. The worker who took our order seemed new based on the way she mixed the topping into the ice cream. Also, we had to wait 5 minutes to checkout because someone was being trained, which is inconvenient because we were on a short timer for parking. read more

I think it's understandable during Covid times but it's one of those things where you have someone who I assume is the manager that doesn't help their staff so things get really backed up. My boyfriend and I grabbed ice cream at Cold Stone after dinner the other night and were happy we did. We hadn't been there in quite some time and we nearly forgot how delicious it is. I chose a medium signature option with cake batter ice cream, cookie dough, chocolate chips, chocolate syrup, and caramel syrup. My boyfriend got a large strawberry ice cream with whipped cream, strawberries, and caramel in a waffle bowl. They loaded his up and it was overflowing his cup, but he wasn't complaining! He has a bit of a Reese's peanut butter cup addiction and couldn't resist getting their new ice cream Reese's cups to go. He thought they were good but he still has other favorite Reese's treats. When I was 16 I worked at Coldstone Creamery in Downtown East Lansing. The owner was/is a guy named Moe. Because I was a minor, they only legally had to pay me something like $5 an hour. I would usually make decent tips, maybe enough to amount to an additional $1.50 an hour. I was one of only a few workers there and quickly became the best, so good that I would train other people. The people I trained were older than me usually. That's when I realized, the people I was training were making 10 dollars an hour while I was still making 5. My boss would have me work until close with him, so I usually wouldn't get home til 2am (Illegal for minors). A few times, Moe would have me come to his apartment with him after a shift and he would roll a blunt and give me some story about how he was roofing for 18 hours a day when he was 10 years old back in Pakistan. I told him I can't keep working hours like this, I am in school, and he would tell me real men find a way to balance work and school etc. The floors of the ice cream shop were (and are) covered in black mold, and he and the owner Narmeen would have me scrub them every night (and underneath the ice cream machines etc.) Then I developed bronchitis, and walking pneumonia, and got mono on top of that. I'm sure the respiratory illnesses were due to the black mold. I was so sick that I couldn't get out of my bed (it was summer and I was 16 - imagine how sick you would have to be to not get out of bed) anyway suffice to say I quit that job. If it weren't for my coworkers who I liked, I would have filed a lawsuit. I still feel like I should have. But if anyone here is in the East Lansing area, do not go to Coldstone. Moe is abusive, manipulative, and there is black mold underneath all the machinery, he uses milk MONTHS past the expiration date, and makes most things with no gloves. read more

FYI this place is run by a former member of the Spartan Marching Band tuba section. Excellent ice cream, just what you would expect from Cold Stone. On warm days the line can get long, but the employees are generally pretty speedy. My only complaint is that it's a bit expensive, but totally worth it to treat yourself every once in awhile. Birthday Cake Remix is one of my all-time favorites. That cake batter ice cream is to DIE for! read more

As an ice cream lover, Cold Stone was always a treat when hungry enough after dinner. The ice cream is rich and filling and delicious! My friends and I would buy a pint of ice cream (I know how cliche) and it would save us money. Plus we had ice cream for a while and we could eat as much as we want at a time and not waste any of it. Cold Stone also has delicious ice cream cakes (because I'm not a fan of spongy cake, gasp) and delicious flavors of their homemade ice cream. Did I mention the service is great? The staff hand makes the ice cream right in front of you and you get in and out of the store (it's on the small side) without having to wait too long. Beware, like any other ice cream store, it can get busy during the weekends or when a baseball team is done with their game. Plenty of toppings and plenty of flavors! I like how this is located in the main shopping area of downtown and is across from campus. It's on the expensive side but it's worth it if you just want a cup or cone or even a smoothie. If you're in the mood to take some home try a pint. read more

Good, but it's not top notch. I like the ice cream, it's just friggin expensive and usually the service here is a little spotty. Frequently they are really nice but they don't seem to pay much attention to details. I'm not the biggest ice cream fan, but this place was pretty good! I love how there were so many delicious flavors that you could choose. You can choose to have one of their many combinations or make your own. They mix it all in with the ice cream to make sure you get a piece of chocolate or Oreo or whatever you choose in every bite! I love Coldstone but wow this location is terrible. They made me a watery milkshake. I showed the employee and kindly asked for it to be remade. Another employee (maybe the manager) interjected to interrogate him on whether there was something actually wrong with my milkshake. When it came time to pay, there was a big line by the cash register and the employees were cleaning utensils and countertops.
