When I awoke on Sunday morning, Dr. Simon had already emailed me back, letting me know she would be happy to help us. She came that Sunday afternoon. It was one of the hardest things that our family had to do together, but she made Jack's passing so peaceful. She was so sympathetic to our family, both in her emails and when she came to put him to sleep. Our family will never forget her and are so thankful that she was able to help us so quickly. She even mailed us a sympathy card a few days later, which meant so much to us.

The process to secure an appointment is not particularly lengthy but we did have to make our date 3 months in advance. UGA VTH has an emergency department for urgent care cases. Our experience was very satisfying. Dr Timothy Vernier and his student assistant, Lexi, explained what we could expect from our day and after an initial evaluation we asked for a set of xrays so we could have a good starting point for regular annual evaluations to determine the progression of his condition. Our final meeting wrapped up a thorough and, we think, productive day. We found the fees reasonable and comparable to what we paid in the past for evaluations of this kind with other dogs. All in all, we recommend UGA VTH for your small animal's healthcare. P.S. While you're there read the book about the wonderful pets, large and small, furry and feathered, all loved and brought to UGA VTH for treatment.

When we arrived our records were out on the desk and already reviewed. The staff took her immediately for examination and within 10 minutes they shared their findings from the exam and bloodwork. Turns out our baby had suffered a perforated hernia and was septic with her white blood count "off the charts". Dr Hope recommended immediate surgery. 3 hours later she called with the results which thankfully all went well. She showed as much genuine care and concern for our fur baby as we felt. Dr. Leslie Hart is the finest Vet I have ever known. Not only is she a good Dr., but she has a wonderful warm manner. I have trained and shown dogs and I would not take my babies anywhere else. There are three Vets in the office and all of them are kind and caring to both their two and four legged friends. After a couple of days of our beloved senior pup vomiting at home, we reached out to Bates Animal Hospital with our concerns. They jumped right on getting him in that day. A detailed conversation and an X-ray strongly suggested that our pup had consumed something that was blocking his stomach. Dr. Bates calmly, but confidently recommended same day surgery to remove the foreign matter. And just in time because this urgent decision prevented the blockage from progressing to what I'm sure would have been fatal had it not been removed. And the post surgery care from the entire staff has been impeccable, with kindness (even with an episode of explosive post surgery diarrhea that could peel paint off the walls). Now we are home loving on our senior pup and thankful that we have more time with him, because time is precious with our pooch who loves us so unconditionally.
