Staff and vet were very nice and sweet to our dog. They looked at his mouth and confirmed the need for surgery. They gave us an estimate of the charges and we moved forward. After several calls to other businesses who exclusively offer at home euthanasia specifically, but were not willing to come out on such short notice we were given Dr. Wong's contact information. She also came recommended by a member of our normal veterinarian. She was kind and willing to come out on a Sunday with little notice, and she allowed us to wait until 7:00 pm so that my brother could be there. She had excellent bed side manners and was very kind. We were able to have our other dogs come in and say goodbye to Angel before she passed. She sedated our large dog, Angel, enough so that she was completely relaxed and at peace. She even allowed us to take a family picture with Angel. Dr. Wong gave us the gift of our beautiful Angel dying with dignity surrounded by family and I can not thank her enough for that.

They are completely thorough with your pet exams and explain everything in detail - I never feel like I'm unsure of what's going on or feel like they didn't do enough (which I have other places). They have wonderful bedside manner with my dogs... and me. Their staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, they are also willing to work with long term clients as far as payments, should you be in a bind - which I have been. They also will suggest a decent home/over the counter remedy if possible, before I run my dog in and they've always been on point and saved me some money. Plus their prices are considerably more affordable than any vet in Athens. Even their prescription meds are considerably cheaper than online pet med carriers. My eldest dog who is 15 has been suffering from some chronic allergies that have plagued him for years. Other vets had me spinning my wheels and spending money on special tests and exams that were unnecessary. I brought my pup in there and they came up with a complete game plan to help him. Dr. Mosher even called me at 7 pm one night to make sure that I understood the plan and came up with something cost effective for me. It has worked wonders. He's bright, healthy, and happy now. Years ago, I was dog sitting for a friend who was out of the country and her dog came down with a horrible ear infection. Dr. Nemitz sent my friend a detailed email with information about what was going on with her dog (as she had limited access to a phone) and gave her his personal cell phone should she have questions. They really care and it shows. I can't tell you how grateful I am to have such a wonderful team of experts helping my little dogs - who are my everything.

The second place we took her was after she hurt her leg and they claimed she needed a splint and all this other stuff and we believed them. However, their front desk lady was always rude and the vet and his staff were immature and I didn't feel that they listened to our concerns....sooooo, we went to yet ANOTHER vet.... Finally, on the recommendation to Pawtropolis, I took Frankie to Shoal Creek....they explained that she never really injured her leg that bad and that the previous vet should have taken x-rays of both legs and they would have noticed that. Also, both vets (Dr. Elder and Dr. Askren) are sooo nice and they explain everything. I feel that the doctors and all the staff truly care about your concerns and your little furry family member's well being. Even though we are getting ready to move to Watkinsville, I will still take my dog and kitties there.

We had evacuated to Athens from Charleston for Hurricane Matthew and three days into our stay discovered our sweet girl was swelling really bad in her face. When our initial attempts to self medicate with children's Benadryl failed and she started throwing up, I took her in to this emergency vet. The tech and doctor working that day were extremely caring and thoughtful. They approached the examinations and subsequent care plans with reason. After two visits in one day, we eventually settled back into our hotel room and watched our baby like hawks. Connie, the tech who had helped us, called before she wrapped up her shift to check on things. We felt very confident in the care we received. The facility was clean and had everything needed to run diagnostics on our girl. If you find yourself in the unfortunate situation of needing emergency vet care, this hospital is a great option.

As hard as it was, I had to let him go, as even with a pain injection he was in extreme pain and there was no hope. Dr Hopkins and Tammy (I think) let me hold my cat in my arms like a baby while they put him to sleep, then afterwards let me and my wife spend as much time with him as we needed before leaving. I could not ask for more humane, professional, compassionate care. Truly this was some of the best veterinary care I've seen in 40+ years of bringing my pets to vets.
