The health and safety of the people and the animals in the shelter are priorities. There is a wellness clinic and a law enforcement office at the shelter as well. If you visit, please don't open a dog's enclosure on your own. Some of our lovable pups are escape artists, and it just makes unnecessary risk of injury to someone if you open the door and the animal dashes off to the great outdoors (potentially knocking someone like me over) instead of greeting you. The dog doesn't know you, and he may just be more interested in distant sounds and scents at the moment than he is in you. Instead, get hold of an adoption counselor out in front and ask to see the animal you would like to meet. They're authorized to arrange for positive "first dates" between animals and prospective adopters. I love this shelter, and I can say that the people here seriously care about what's best for the animals in their care. It's also a great place to volunteer!

As luck would have it I found Dr. Trotter, the original founder of the Red Bank Veterinarian Hospital and a truly outstanding Dr. of Veterinarian medicine. As in all fields for the most art, the bulk of Professionals are reasonably good at what they do but every once in a while, like in human medicine, there are Vets that are on the "A" team, that is best descriptive I can honestly give of Dr Trotter. When ever my dogs had a problem I would get them over to Dr Trotter and unlike most other Vets, Dr Trotter was extremely thorough and got to the bottom of the problem very quickly and his diagnosis was always "spot on", so as I mentioned I was lucky to find Dr Trotter and my doggies were even luckier. When it came to my dogs and their well being, Dr Trotter was and continues to be, "The Great Defender" of all the pets he treats and I was great full for all his service to them.
