While traveling through Spain and the south of France, we have had amazing Spanish tapas and French…read morecuisine. After nearly two weeks and a bout of stomach flu, my appetite returned and I craved Vietnamese food. We found this little restaurant in the middle of Béziers, France.
It seemed like they were highlighting the Bún Thang--a very Hanoi/Northern Vietnamese dish. So we got that and also the Bún Bò.
The Bún thang was wonderful. The broth light, sweet, savory yet hearty. The shrimp was cooked perfectly. The chả lụa fluffy and savory with the perfect texture. Even the chicken was great. One of the best Bún thang I've ever had. The only thing that would have made it perfect was some cà cuống (impossible to find).
The Bún bò Chả giò. The egg rolls were super flavorful with just the right amount of crispy, savory flavor. The beef was well seasoned perfectly with hints of lemon grass and fish sauce. The roasted peanuts added a crunchy texture. The nước mắm pha sẵn was light and acidic. Delicious and satisfying.
We also had Gỏi cuốn as a "dessert". The mint and Vietnamese coriander blended wonderfully with the shrimp and Chả lụa that was used in place of pork. Truly a treat.
It's great to know that Vietnamese restaurants like this exist. I am glad we came here and highly recommend you try it if ever you find yourself in the Occitanie region in one of the oldest, continuously occupied towns in France--Béziers.
