I've been to File's in years past and did not remember the place to be so dark and drab. Feel like this places days are numbered. Sure miss the Social Grill for the ones of you that are old enough to remember that place.

Then I ordered scrambled eggs and they put cheese on the inside of the eggs - never asked for that. They took over 15minutes to make fresh eggs and by then I had already completed my meal. It would be nice to see more descriptions on your menu if an item is not standard ingredients instead of a surprise or even to make regular grits too. The waitress Sherlyn was very nice and accommodating with getting those items removed and overall a good waitress with the other things being beyond her control.

I also had their chef's favorite, the Screamin Demon which is a fried chicken sandwich with seasoned fries with ranch. I started with the fries and immediately, the ranch was nice and savory along with the fries being crispy. The sandwich itself was savory but not too overpowering, the fried chicken was crunchy which went well with the rest of the sandwich. Overall, this is a gem for brunch!

Thankfully free parking was available. I walked in at the perfect time, just as the breakfast grill was shutting down and the lunch grill was heating up. I was 5 minutes pass breakfast, as told by the waitress. She was so kind and told me that she would ask, if they (he) could prepare a breakfast for me. The answer was yes, but no grits. Oh well, let's try the omelette and hash brows. I'm really not into hash browns but these were delicious! Crispy and perfectly round. The omelette was also good and fluffy. The coffee was a good robust cup of coffee. This is a real old school diner. Counter seats with a few booths to the side. No frills here. Decent diner food with great friendly service. By the time I finished my breakfast, the lunch crowd was starting to come in for a seat at the counter and booths. I heard someone say, this is the best Philly cheesesteak in the area. Anyways, this was a pleasant place to have a good simple meal with some awesome service. The only reason I'm not giving 5* is because of not being able to get the grits, which was my fault for not getting there a little sooner. I will definitely come back.

Hard to believe this was my first visit. I have heard about Bevelle's for years. They used to be…read morein a section of a gas station, but in 2019 they moved to a store-front that allows better parking and an eat-in area. Unfortunately, we weren't able to take advantage of the dining room, but we picked up lunch for three, taking advantage of both their curbside service and a cash-only special that was offered the week leading up to Easter. Their menu changes daily, but is traditional meat-and-two fare and is currently being shared as it changes on their facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/BEVELLES/ Regretfully, I was also so hungry and otherwise preoccupied to take pictures. (Sorry about that.) Our plates were meatloaf with mashed potatoes and green beans, meatloaf with mac-n-cheese and mashed potatoes (yes, this is the teenager's plate), and baked BBQ chicken with mac-n-cheese and green beans. We all chose the roll instead of the cornbread. Meatloaf is a pretty personal dish for Southerners, and we each have our own favorite way; Bevelle's is a pretty "traditional" meatloaf with a tomato-based sauce on top. Green beans are what I would call Italian green beans (aka Romano beans) that are wide and flat. Mashed potatoes can be with or without gravy, and they were a nice consistency. Mac-n-cheese was baked, and pretty flavorful. You can also choose between white and dark meat for their chicken; our white meat included a chicken breast and a wing. Nice BBQ sauce; sweet, not spicy at all, so like the "Kraft Original" of BBQ sauces. Nice portion, and filling enough for lunch. We ended up having a late dinner because this was so satisfying. Will look forward to returning and trying their well-known Hot Banana Pudding. Fair warning: They are open ONLY during the week, and ONLY for lunch hours.

I am greeted by Mr.Eddie (the owner) himself every time I go and have had nothing but friendly conversations/interactions with most if not all of the staff. Mr.Eddie runs a tight ship! It is a bit on the pricy side but i would much rather support a local business and friendly face, than corporate restaurant/fast food that comes from who knows where and doesn't care about your food or experience. The Ranch House has been around for many years, and the parking lot always seems to be full. I had heard it was excellent for breakfast, but I was curious about what other options they offered. The restaurant has changed ownership several times over the years, yet it has maintained a loyal following. My friends and I stopped in for lunch on Monday, and I was impressed by how large the menu is. The sweet spot here is the classic meat-and-vegetable combinations. The term "meat and three" is part of the Southern vocabulary -- especially in Alabama -- and The Ranch House does it well. The meat and vegetable selections rotate daily, and there's enough variety that you should easily find something you'll enjoy. The restaurant also includes "Markarios" in its name, and you'll notice Mediterranean influences sprinkled throughout the menu. For lunch, I ordered the chicken shawarma wrap along with a Markarios side salad. The chicken was nicely seasoned and full of flavor, and the salad was fresh and excellent. Overall, a solid local spot with something for everyone.
