This is a really calming cute shop with delicious lattes. We had the lavender latte which was a tinge sweet maybe but super pleasing. Wife is easily accessible and there is good seating though you will most likely be sharing a large table with others. The location of Coffee Rx is not too far from where the Bay Ridge Marathon is so it's a great spot before heading out for a walk or to relax after a walk outside. Prices are a little high for a small drink but it's unique and tasty! And ambience is good for studying. read more

I was not amazed by the matcha latte here. I bought some Matcha Latte powder from Amazon to make by myself and that's how it tasted like. it was like sweetened milk. The barista/cashier was super friendly, and recommended me the cold matcha, in the end, my taste buds did not agree with his recommendation. The space is nice. Very quiet, a lot of people just sitting and studying. The coffee was really good, but just as expensive as starbucks and they don't carry decaf which is disappointing, as I only drink decaf. I did try the macchiato which didn't make me too jittery. But prob will not be visiting here again because of it. The shop itself is really nice and they have an outdoor space as well. I believe the have wifi. I always get my coffee here. However, today I got a chocolate croissant that tasted stale and old. They clearly do not sell fresh bake goods everyday. Also, I got a iced double expresso which the barista served it in a paper cup. When I asked for a plastic cup, which is the regular way to serve it, he argued that's how they always serve it when it is not true. He was also very stingy with the amount of ice even after I asked for more. I will think it twice before coming back. read more

After a great brunch I was in the mood for coffee, and I had heard rave reviews about Coffee Rx. Having come in and doing a quick double take at the prices, I settled on the Nutella Monster - sight unseen. While slightly on the pricier side of things ($6), the overall size of the drink as well as the taste make the price well worth it. A coffee with 2 shots of espresso all blended together with Nutella set my hyperactivity skyrocketing, though it was so smooth and delicious I managed to get to the bottom in no time. As opposed to a frapuchino from Starbucks, the Nutella monster was perfectly blended, leaving no shards of ice to interrupt a sip. read more

I found Coffee Rx when I had over an hour to kill a weekday morning. It's larger, brighter and airier than the coffee places in my South Slope neighborhood. They post the wifi password in the board and there's ample seating both at tables and at several counters. The coffee was great and the breakfast items tempting, but I really appreciated the relaxed atmosphere, the friendly baristas and very clean bathroom. This is my go-to coffee shop in bay ridge. I've been coming here since they first opened and still prefer their coffee and food over cocoa grinder and cream. I'm in love with their Nutella latte/ Nutella monster (so generous with their Nutella ratio!!). On days when I prefer something less sweet, I go for their rose latte. I went on a Tuesday afternoon and it was very chill. I assume it is like that most of the time so if you are looking for a quiet place to get some work done, this place is great. Wifi was good for the most part with a couple freezes in my 3+ hours spent there. I sometimes feel bad if I order one thing in a coffee shop and stay there for hours on end because that could be bad for a business, but this place never got crowded. I ordered a rose iced tea which tasted good. It's served in jars which is a bit too hipster for me but who cares, it tastes the same in a glass. The backyard has plenty of seating as well, along with umbrellas for shade. This is definitely a place I will come to to get stuff done. read more

I have visited this place many times. They don't offer enough options for coffee lovers. One would believe after so many comments about how they don't have their own iced coffee, they would make a change regarding it, but no changes have been made. They now have frapps, but it's a LOT more expensive than those from Starbucks and not nearly as tasty. No decaf, no iced-coffee and although they have little containers with sweeteners and milk on the side for customers to put in themselves, it's not as sanitary because customers like licking their fingers after touching them. I prefer packaged sugars or have the baristas do that instead to avoid cross contaminations. Of course, it may just be that I'm a health freak, but cross contamination is a big problem especially when you don't know how often they clean their bottles. Also, if they call themselves coffee lab, they should stick with the theme. Labs are usually not bright and blinding. If you're in the store at sunset, you're asking for sunlight blinding you, on a Sunday afternoon, when you want to enjoy your coffee, the sun just screams at you. They leave the windows and doors opened so there's air ventilation and a lot of bugs fly in and fly around the place, it's hard to even just sit in there and enjoy yourself. All in all, they don't offer enough and their prices are way too expensive. I would avoid going there if I actually want decent coffee. read more

Stop by the busy Coffee Lab this morning. Ordered the house coffee, croissant and doughnut. House coffee is a medium to darker roast, no complaints. One annoying thing is that they don't use the brown sugar packets but offer the large dispenser. The croissants are from Balthazar Bakery and doughnuts from Dough Brooklyn. Smart idea to order wholesale from popular places. Side note, they are starting to serve lunch. Not sure if they are homemade or from the outside. read more

Hipster cafe in Bay Ridge - speaking my language. Prices are on par with other hipster third wave coffee joints, maybe a lil cheaper than what you'd find in manhattan or Williamsburg. I've only been here once so far but I really enjoyed my time here. The atmosphere is cozy and they have a cute little patio area in the back with wooden picnic benches. The place is a good average size but a nice place to go to get some work done or for studying or just meeting up with someone. I had their London fog latte with soy milk and it was great. Not insanely sweet at all and I could taste the earl grey tea. I was pretty happy with the fact that they had non-diary milk options. Tonight I came to Coffee Lab. All I wanted was a Nutella waffle after major jet lag. He said he couldn't make it for me because it was past 6. I looked at my phone, and it said 6:01. I am really not one to write reviews, but this experience is definitely worth sharing. I live a little over an hour away by car and I was compelled to come here because of the great reviews. Honestly, even if I lived in right next door, I wouldn't even stop in after my terrible experience. I ordered a regular mocha for my boyfriend and an iced mocha with almond milk with light ice for myself. I asked the barista several times for light ice while placing my order and she stilled filled the cup up all the way with ice. I then, kindly asked her to go dump some ice out (since I asked for little ice in the first place and since I don't like my coffee to be watered down). She gave me an evil stare and then she dumped, about 3 ice cubes out. I then kindly asked her to dump more out, and she finally did. Then she whips out vanilla almond milk, and I asked her if she had non-flavored almond milk (honestly, who orders a mocha with vanilla overpowering almond milk???) and she quickly pours the vanilla almond milk into the cup and says no, we only have vanilla. At this point I'm considering asking for my money back even before I drink my "vanilla almond milk mocha", but I talked myself into keeping an open mind because of the great reviews. So I get my drink from the barista, and its 3/4 of the way filled. I look up and the barista tells me its still hot and my drink is not filled completely because I didn't want a lot of ice. At this point, I'm irritated, but still willing to keep an open mind about the drink. So I go in for my first sip and not surprisingly, the drink is absolutely terrible. There was more chocolate in that drink than a person could dream of and I was shocked because the vanilla almond milk was overpowered by the chocolate. That's not all though. My boyfriend took the first sip of his mocha and his face looked like he just failed the cinnamon challenge. That alone says a lot because my boyfriend never complains about anything and he is not picky. I then take a sip of his mocha and it literally tasted like hot chocolate with extra chocolate with not even a hint of espresso. So, in sum this is the worst "coffee" (if you want to call it that) that I had in Brooklyn thus far. CONS: poor service, terrible "coffee" PROS: Clean restroom, well maintained space. read more

Absolutely excellent coffee! The roast is highly caffeinated so be prepared to get a buzz on or ask for half-caff. As everyone is saying, it's a delightful spot on a block that really needed some pizzazz. The French macarons are superb. The staff is very friendly. The shop is owned by a local pharmacist whose wife wanted to open a coffee shop. Lucky us. If you care about good coffee, please get down there now. They won't make it on that block if they don't develop a following and I've noticed some of the drop-in people order coffee and whine about the taste...they've never had a cup of coffee that tastes like coffee before. I like coming here for a change of scenery when studying. It's friendly and clean. A little pricey, but good coffee and tasty pastries. The big tables aren't very comfortable. There's a bar underneath so you can't cross your legs and someone tall probably wouldn't be comfortable at all. Several times when I was there the door was kept open but it wasn't exactly hot out. Today it was 54 and rainy. I asked to close the door but after a few minutes it was open again. I was freezing! I left before finishing my coffee. I'd give more stars but I won't be returning for a while. read more
