They are genuine people who love making coffee to make people happy. How awesome is that! The staff are also really helpful when it comes to understanding how coffee works because Allpress are of course first and foremost roasters. This means you'll never get a bad coffee from them. They also have a few tables outdoors where you can sit and take in the sun and Ponsonby atmosphere. Dreamy.

There was one occasion where I came here with a friend of mine and spent over an hour on a little wooden bench outside the store window enjoying several long blacks. There isn't much space and the only other seating is small stools which line the other side of the footpath but who cares, it is Allpress, take it and go if need be it is still enjoyable out of a take out cup. There is a small range of biscuits inside but really the coffee takes center stage here. Allpress also hold after hours coffee appreciation classes for those who are wanting to work on their coffee making skills and also to educate coffee lovers more on their passion. It goes without saying of course that this is also a retail store and you can buy bags of Allpress to take home with you. Now I really want a coffee.

Located in a little commercial with other excellent places to stop, the roaster is small with indoor and outdoor seating and a counter to order. They had light food like pastries and things that go well with the coffee. Prices here were very reasonable for the quality - the tall black I ordered was rich and creamy, a hot treat on a cold morning. Ambience is pleasant with high ceilings, lots of green plants, books, and cozy lighting. I was struck by how many people were having casual meetings here. The staff was a mother daughter team I believe, excellent service and friendly to explain what they had. I'd recommend coming if you're looking for a high quality coffee shop.

A small coffee shop with great decor, with large roaster, which is in use 9am Monday to Friday if you want a fresh start to your morning. Came in on a Sunday morning so it was quiet, perfect for a catch up with friends. Coffee ordered there is served on a little tray. The barista was ultra friendly! Never fear, the baristas are really helpful and will happily provide explanations (minus the wanky coffee chat) of each blend so you can at least make a somewhat educated decision. To the left (to the left...sorry couldn't help myself - just went to Beyonce), there is also a cabinet full of sandwiches, slices and the like. The cabinet's doors are customer facing so you can help yourself, old school cafeteria style. I must admit, I haven't tried the food but it looks pretty delish.
