The rooms were probably the most nicely decorated of anywhere I stayed in the UK on this trip. There is a small kitchen downstairs where you can pay for breakfast. The staff are very friendly. I think the best part was definitely the extremely convenient location. The gated entrance to the hotel basically drops right off at st nicholas market...an outdoor hallway basically with permanent food stands. We ate here all 3 days in Bristol and the food is super delicious and affordable.

A 10 pound deposit was required to confirm the booking. We arrived by train and discovered that the guesthouse is further away from the centre than we expected it to be. On arrival i was left waiting on the doorstep ringing the doorbell. It seemed the owner of this guesthouse was incapable of answering her mobile phone and even hung up on me at one point. 45 minutes later she appeared at the end of the drive without acknowledging us and went next door with a neighbour/ friend. 2 minutes later she came back and i asked her why she was late. She told us she had picked up her daughter from nursery and blamed us for not coming later. while entering the premesis i took the opportunity to ask her why she did not answer her mobile phone and she got offended by such a question, shouting in my face, calling me rude and telling me to f**k off. We headed to the tourist information desk in town for help finding emergency accomodation. I explained the situation and was told they are not even on the list of guesthouses in their database. We managed to book a lovely guesthouse closer to the city and, although i did not manage to stay at the glanville, i am now aware there are better located guesthouses and better guesthouse owners for the same amount of money.

However, if you are looking for a quiet and comfortable hotel in the countryside of Bristol, then the Coach House could be worth a stay. Upon arrival my girlfriend and I were met with a welcoming and accommodating service at reception. The lobby was clean and tidy, and was decorated in a contemporary and subtle style befitting a countryside location. Our chalet-style room was tucked away at the back of the hotel, with a small courtyard to the front and a field to the back. We were shown to our room, provided with a key (which made a pleasant change from the modern key-card contraptions) and were shown how to operate the electric heater if required. Very much like the lobby, was the rooms was clearly cleaned to a high standard and immediately felt comfortable. As the room had both an external and internal door, we felt this contributed to an overall suggestion of security. The room contained a dresser, clothes rail, large double bed with two side tables, a flat-screen television, and a chair. The tea and coffee making facilities were very generous and we both appreciated the provision of caramelised biscuits. I found the bed to be extremely comfortable, although my girlfriend felt as though the mattress was a little too firm for her liking and her sleep was not the best. We were provided with generous and good-quality towels for the small but perfectly adequate bathroom. Like the bedroom, the bathroom had obviously been cleaned to a very high standard. The inclusion of breakfast was very much appreciated. We were provided with a buffet-style breakfast of cereals, coffee and juice in the spacious dining room, and we had a choice of full-English breakfast options. Overall, the service was excellent and the quiet location beneficial to a couple looking for a peaceful weekend.
