I asked if he wanted to hear the sound. He did not. I left him to it. 35 or so minutes later, he said that he cleaned debris from the pumps, showed me a shard of glass, and when I listened to it running for a few seconds, the sound seemed to be gone. Great. Then he said it would be $245, his minimum labor charge. That sounded rather steep to me. He lowered it to $220 (after pretending to text a boss, which I don't think he has), but that was still more than I felt was fair for the work he did. The next time I ran a load of dishes the sound was there again. I emailed him, attaching a short video of the noise happening, and he wrote that he would come by to check it out. I asked for times that would work for him, and at that point he stopped replying. After that, I asked for a partial refund. Again, no response. I feel a bit ripped off, paying $220 when the problem wasn't even resolved. So, no, I cannot recommend Davyd/PDX Repair. I suggest looking for a more honorable, experienced appliance repair person, as I will the next time I need one.

At no point did the company provide a clear written summary of what was actually wrong with the system. We were left to piece together the diagnosis from a short text message. The technician diagnosed the problem as a breaker issue, not the AC unit itself. I had two separate licensed electricians inspect the breaker afterward, and both independently ruled it out as the cause. When I contacted the company to ask about a follow-up visit, I was told they'd charge me again if they didn't find anything new, effectively putting the cost of their own misdiagnosis back on me. I hired a different HVAC company instead, who found two distinct underlying issues this company's technician missed entirely. To their credit, this company refunded the original diagnostic fee once I pushed back. But they doubled down, insisting the second company's findings were wrong rather than acknowledging the initial diagnosis was off-base, despite three independent professionals (two electricians and a second HVAC company) contradicting it. Bottom line: a wrong diagnosis, a policy that charges customers again to correct their own mistakes, and a company unwilling to reconsider even when multiple independent professionals disagreed with them. The refund doesn't offset the time lost chasing the wrong problem. Get a second opinion before acting on anything this company tells you.
