The King's River Base camp Zephyr has is an all inclusive experience depending on what options you choose to purchase from them. The staff cam provided everything including tents if needed so that you can focus on having fun rafting. Not only are the guides excellent at navigating the river and tailoring the experience to all levels they are amazing camp cooks too! If you have never been white water rafting before this is the perfect place to get your feet wet, and if you are experienced you will enjoy the ease of rafting with these folks! We were warmly greeted by Kim, who guided us through everything we needed from the moment we arrived. The property has several cabins and yurts. The cabins are equipped with full kitchens and each one has its own unique charm. There's also a great common hangout area with a piano, fireplace, bar, disco lights, couches, and high tables; perfect for relaxing or spending time with the group. A shared kitchen is also available with full cooking capabilities. If you're staying in the yurts, restrooms and showers are conveniently located nearby. The grounds are spacious and peaceful, ideal for daily walks, relaxing in a hammock, or heading up a bit to enjoy the swings and take in the sunset. One weekend truly wasn't enough to explore and appreciate everything this place has to offer. Plus, it's only a short drive from the Sequoia Park entrance, which makes it even better. My only suggestion would be to provide a detailed list of what each cabin includes: kitchen tools, bathroom essentials, and bedroom items so guests can pack accordingly.

On Labor Day, the sisters plan a trip to Sequoia National Park and reserve the Boyden Cavern. We…read moreneeded to arrive by 9:50 a.m., so we had to get up early and find out how to get there. Without a cell phone connection, there is no GPS connection. Make sure you have a full tank of gas and download the offline map first. We planned to meet at the King Canyon visitor center, but learned we needed to go to the Boyden Cavern visitor center instead. From the King Canyon Visitor Center to Boyden Cavern, it is another 45-minute drive on a windy route. Luckily, we arrived on time and checked in. While waiting, the views are stunning, and the tour lasts approximately 30 to 40 minutes. It's really nice inside the cave, the temperature within the cave is around 50 degrees, which feels cool and pleasant. When visiting Sequoia National Park, Boyden Cavern is a must-see attraction.

The rooms are redecorated, the food Jackie serves is AMAZING and they are both so extremely hospitable! The location is really great because it is easy to get to the local shops and the park entrance. I stayed two nights, first breakfast was french toast and WOW.(best in my life no joke), second breakfast was a spinach frittata also Very good (I am going to try making it!). Most of the breakfasts come with a special jam or sirup that is home made. The home has a very hommy feel to it. The rooms are very nice and feel like a nice hotel room, but no TV (not that you need) Fresh baked brownies sat in the kitchen! Don't bring pets if going to the national parks they cant really do much! Hairdryer in the hall to share if you need! They have a deck on the second floor with a fridge and table/chairs for sharing with other guest (note a room does sit behind with a window) Did I mention FRESH baked brownies sat in the kitchen?

It…read morehas water you can drink, flush toilets with sinks as well, and even a sink for washing dishes. Each site has a bear box, a fire pit and a picnic table. We were lucky that our bear box was in the shade, to keep food cool while we were out. We stayed in campsite number 75. If I went again, I would try and be near the river or closer to the namesake Sheep Creek. The campground was only a short walk from the National Park Visitor's Center (Cedar Grove Location). The Visitor's Center had multiple interesting presentations throughout the weekend. (Memorial Weekend was the first weekend the campground was open). There was one daytime talk every day we were there and an evening presentation both Saturday and Sunday at 8:30pm (hours and days of these vary). Trevor, the ranger, was very helpful and his talks were insightful! We saw both "Written in Stone" (about mass extinctions) and a talk on animal defense mechanisms during the day. They were both great! The hiking near the site was impeccable. We drove to Road's End for the Mist Falls hike which was just shy of 10 miles round trip (with the incline mainly on the last 1.5 miles out). It was definitely worth the walk! The falls were beautiful. There was also plenty of hiking closer to the campsite. Roaring Falls and Zumalt Meadow were much easier hikes but still rewarding in the views of nature they provided. On the way out we visited Grant's Grove and some of the Sequoias. It is about 1 hour from the entrance to King's Canyon National Park to this campsite so I don't recommend using this campground for visiting the sequoias.

The Campsite has nice bathrooms, monitored and Maintained by the campsites rangers and has water spouts/sinks. Located next to the south fork of the Kings Canyon River, fishing is permitted and permit is required (check local and state regulations). The is lots of trails and areas to go hiking as well as day use areas further up the river. In case you forget anything there is a lodge which has a well stocked market as well as snack shop to get some food. Showers and Laundry facilities are very nice for camping standards and tokens are available at the market.
