We had just finished a 4 hr train ride and were HUNGRY. The entrance is outside the station, but a quick walk. Once you are inside, it's overwhelmingly filled with food galore. Everywhere you look there's an option for desserts, coffee, alcohol, sandwiches, pasta, pizza, meats, American food, Japanese food, and many other Italian specialties. Some tough decisions to be made here. So depending on your appetite, have fun! The piadina wrap came with ham, cheese, greens, tomatoes, and truffle cream. Sounds basic but that truffle cream gave it an edge and the wrap was loaded. The meatballs were so so good! Like rich fatty goodness. The meatball itself was juicy and that tomato sauce was thick and beefy. The braised beef was tender and paired with the salted potatoes and salad it was a well balanced plate. This was our first food stop in Rome and it only got better in the days to come. Great welcome to Rome meal!

Their breakfast selection is incredible -- a wide variety of fresh, beautifully crafted pastries that taste just as good as they look. The cappuccinos are perfectly made, rich and balanced, exactly what you'd expect in Italy. What makes this place even more special is that it's not just for mornings. In the afternoon, it transforms into the perfect spot to enjoy a relaxed aperitivo in a lovely, cozy setting. The service truly stands out -- the staff is incredibly friendly, attentive, and always smiling, which makes the whole experience even more enjoyable. I was disappointed with the bread and cookies we purchased. It's difficult to do everything well. Perhaps narrowing on one specialty is best, but I'm old school. I miss the days of the fruit store, the formaggi shop, the wine merchant, etc. Everyone was lovely at Il Gianfornaio, and reminded me of how my American education was lacking. I can only speak English and a smattering of French. The merchants at Il Gianfornaio spoke English better than me. That was embarrassing.

I am afraid to share that it was pretty bad... We walk into the restaurant and a young man behind the counter asked us what we would like to eat. So we showed him the vouchers and he gave us somewhat a mad look. He asked us what we like to drink and what kind of baked goods we want... Having limited options we chose our baked goods ( 1 each ) and headed toward a table... After 5 mins, we got our drinks and a tray with variety of breakfast items as you can see in the picture that I posted.. It included yogurt, salami, mini buns, cheese, butter, jam and Orange juice... The salami tasted soooo bad... It tasted like it has been in vinegar getting pickled for ages... Just awful!!!! I have to be honest, but I felt like I am getting my daily share of food in a jail!!!!! Sorry Agora but you have disappointed me!

This meant that we had ample time to be introduced to several of the dishes by the owner of the restaurant, who was very gracious and enthusiastic. The layout and decoration is great, and the food even better. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone in the Termini area.
